Once every few centuries, a special night arrives: the Dead Moon.
Without fail, creatures from the Netherworld will attempt to travel to the world of the living
to carry out their nefarious plans under the moon's sinister glow.

Morten is one of such dark creatures.
However, the spell teleporting him is tampered with, and his body is torn to pieces, leaving only his head.
Luckily this does not kill him, since he’s a Lich (and basically a talking skeleton).

With only his head and a few tricks, he enlists the help of the tragically naïve nun who finds him and a newly raised zombie warrior to find the lost pieces of his body and his Grimoire, the source of his power, which was, tragically, also lost.

Meet spooky, interesting characters typical of Halloween season, each with their totally different combat style, and fight your way through the four dungeons in this quick, fun romp through haunted settings.

Morten is a lich and a necromancer who came from the Netherworld, but due to a casting accident has become body-less and unable to use the majority of his powers.

Mariah is a gentle, naïve, and rather dense nun. She finds Morten's head and offers her help, carrying Morten's head around.

Robin is an undead warrior risen by Morten in the graveyard to serve as a minion.

Other characters also help and join Morten on his search.

The game is an entry for the Halloween Contest here at RMN. It's meant to be a short, 4-dungeon game with quirky characters and a lighthearted, comedy mood.

Dead Moon Night takes places in the world of Arum.

Game completed!

So, after a couple of weeks of frenzied, crazied, deadline-looming omg-how-is-it-so-late-already developing stint, the game is finished and tested.

So, please play and leave us your comments! Really, really, please leave us something, even one liners like “I liked it”. We sank an unhealthy amount of time and tension on it.

With the feedback begging out of the way, that’s it! Enjoy the game!

You just need to do a large amount of damage in one turn, so setup Robin for his best move and get Fenrir to max his DMG+ and she should go down.

I thank you for the reply, and hope for the best. In defeating the ghost, that is.
With a little luck, and ability, I'll eventually experience the ending I've read throughout these posts.

There, I beat her. Nice choice of dialogue, I have to say. I take it laughs(or is it laughter?) were intended. Now, onto the next challenge!

How exactly does one go about defeating the ghost in the town ruins? The one you have to lure out, that is. Simply hurting it seems to do squat, since I've been doing it for quite some time. I haven't really played this game for some time, but I seem to remember it using a regen spell, which is entirely unfair, unless the one(s) you play as use such a spell. Maybe I simply have to try a( even more) strategic approach... Or I could just give up entirely. That's an option.
Oh wow, that ending, i can only hope i make something as great as that.
When I do get some time to fix the last few bugs I'll tone down the number of battles. But really pleased you enjoyed it.
Sorry for the mistake on review/commenting.

I just finished beating the game. I loved the breaking of stereotypes throughout the entire game. I admit, that ending sure was unexpected. I was practically in shock and staring at my screen with a o-O?! face at THAT moment (can't spoil) but then I started laughing at the absurdity of it. It had an interesting equipment system and battle structure(?). Though, I have to admit, I was sometimes annoyed by the amount of battles there were but I understand(?) the importance(?) of it.
Overall, it is a really great game and I would recommend people to play it.
Short or not, it is an interesting experience.

definitely something i'll check out.

Just downloaded it, it looks simple(just how I like the games) and entertaining.
The story looks funny, I'll still playing it. >)
Awesome game, the ending is epic xD.
I really, really enjoyed this game. Hilarious dialogue and interaction between the characters. In the beginning, I ended up rereading all the tombstones at least 5 times LOL (it was THAT funny). One of the great things about the battle system was that it was generally short and easy (and unique with the mod chips), and the wonderful full heal afterwards. It eliminated all those needless backtracking to a bed/inn that's so prominent in other rpgs. And the save anywhere option was a GODSEND. I absolutely can't *stand* running back and forth to heal/save. It's a waste of time. So thank you so, so much for all those wonderful features. You made my gaming experience that much more enjoyable.

Oh, and that ending was freakin' hilariously awesome. :)

I really liked the upgrade system (works so nicely for a short game like this) and particularly the unique mechanics that each character had--that's probably the reason I decided to fire up this comment box a few hours past midnight, those character mechanics were awesome. The problem I had was that after the first quarter of the game, I mostly ignored Robin's mechanics since I killed everything too quickly before his stuff came into play. The only thing he did for me was "lol dark sword spam". Other than that, everyone else was of great use.

Good job. :)

Thanks for the feedback and glad you enjoyed it. I used confident starter and blade of confidence to prevent poor Robin from becoming irrelevant in the later parts.

Nice twist ending, I was expecting something else, but I'm more happy with how the story ended. And it took me 'only one night' (or hour?) to finish the game!

Let's see. Except for the fact I died three times on the first enemy before realizing that I was supposed to start looking at skills first, I don't really have any complaints. Actually, I pretty much bulldozed everything after the getting the second teammate. I think the review I see does a good job summing up my thoughts about enemies, difficulties, builds, and such.
