hi!! um whenever i try to run the game a window shows up saying "The file system2c cannot be opened." is there any way to fix this?
You need to install the RPG Maker 2003 RTP.
Do a google search for that and you should find it right away. Ok, so apparantly a working download for that is rare.
There are 2 possible solutions without installing the RTP.
1- The easiest method is to open up the RPG_RT.ini file in notepad or wordpad, and add the following line:
FullPackageFlag=0
Save it and try to run the game. As long as the creator included all game files in the download, this should work.
However, sometimes they don't, and you will continue to get the same error message. Without undoing the change to the .ini file, try this next method.
2- Add a file with the same name as what is reported in the error message.
The message is saying that a file is missing, so if you put it back the game will work.
This might be hard to do if you are unfamiliar with how the engine works, because they need to go in the right folder. I'm referring to the folders called; Backdrop, Battle, Battle2... Some are obvious, like system2c for example. It goes in the folder called
system. You might ask "is it system or system2", and the answer is "put it in both. one of them will be right". There nothing wrong with putting a file in the wrong folder. So if you are unsure, put the file in every folder and it will work.
As for the file to put in, technically I think it doesn't matter, as long it's an image with that name. But you can find many files online that match the "type"
http://www.rpgrevolution.com/forums/index.php?autocom=gallery&req=sc&cat=6. If you were to put in an image of a cat you pulled of the internet, it would either not display properly or show bits of the cat in place of a game graphic. So at least try to find an appropriate image.
If you do that, and it works, but gives another error message for a different file. Do a google search "rpg maker 2003 nameoffileinerror" and you should see what the file looks like. I did a search for "rpg maker 2003 system2c" and found it.
I've never actually done that, never needed to, but in theory it should work. Unless it looks for the files in the usual RTP location which is C:/Program Files/rpg2003/RTP. But as long as you have the FullPackageFlag line in there, it should only look within it's own folder.
Anyways, I know that sounds complicated but it will work and if you have troubles post again or even message me directly.
