A punk in the pink park!

Welcome back!
After reviewing horror sci-fi adventures and dark fantasy quests, here we are with a lighthearted and heartwarming adventure: this is a sweet little game with simple custom graphics and music. You play as Ivy, a girl that lives in a very pink town and receives a letter from a dear old friend. She then has to meet her friend, however without difficulties and tasks to complete there would be no adventure, so expect to look for particular items and visit various locations solving some "riddles" and meeting ghosts in order to see her again. The main problem is the punk in the pink park we have to access, and this obstacle will force Ivy to complete several errands.

As you can see not everything is pink! And there are also some very difficult enigmas to solve!

A Very Pink Game is a 30 minutes adventure that is pretty lighthearted since the only fantasy creatures that Ivy will met are some friendly ghosts and a cute witch, there is also no combat or risk of death (at least for what I know), but that's what I'd expect when the game is very pink! Ok to tell the truth the palette uses four colors: pink (obviously!), black, white, crimson and red. That's all and that's enough to create a lively original world. Maps are simple but sufficiently varied as Ivy will explore a series of locations during her adventure: the town (including a convenience store), the seaside, a haunted wood and a park.

The game uses custom graphics, the style is pretty stylized but coherent and cute. Some characters have silly animations that add to the overall cuteness of the setting, while the music is ok, maybe a bit repetitive and unnerving after a while once you are inside a building (the music for the outdoor areas is a bit better!), but this is my opinion, as I saw some people actually liking it! Simple pixel art and 8-bit music for a simple little game.

The gameplay is pretty simple and not too different from some games I reviewed in the past: just perform some easy task for simple minded npcs in order to be able to access the park and meet the old friend... all is done only to reach that zone where a really short and almost abrupt ending will take place, but there is not much else to say about that. I mean the "mission" is successful, the game is completed, the friends are reunited, that's all you need to know!

Yay, awesome! No, this is not the real ending of the game, play to see what happens next! In the meantime this is the end of the review...

Final Verdict
I will avoid saying too much about this game, since it's so short. You can waste more time like I did, speaking to everyone just to see every dialogue, even those who do not matter. Collecting items and solving (really easy) riddles is all you need to know besides walking around so... I guess that's all. Anyway I found the game pretty relaxing (provided that you do not spend too much time indoors, where music is pretty annoying!).

The game is short but sweet, simple but cute. I found no errors, and I also think that the citizens' little animations were really well done. While not a memorable game (some parts feels a bit repetitive, like the music) it still is above average, and that's a 3,5!
