Extraordinarily Hilarious and Fun

I came across Ninja Clause when I saw it mentioned in a YouTube video, after searching for "Fun RPG Maker Games," because that is the kind of in-depth searching I do as an aspiring YouTube let's player whenever I want a new game to make videos of. I immediately thought "I gotta get on this before everybody else does," much like when you see a really, really attractive person. So, I clicked on the link and downloaded the game without really reading anything on the page. So I had no idea I was playing a demo until the "Thanks for playing our demo!" message came across the screen. I honestly had no clue. THAT'S how polished and well-done this demo is.

The thing that stood out to me the most about this game is how funny and absurd it is. You play as a ninja who talks to shrubbery and wants to find out why he was put on Santa's Naughty List. It pokes fun at some video game staples, such as NPCs handing you items from across the room and how movable items are magically back in their initial spots if you exit and re-enter a room. The voice-acting (yes, voice acting in an RPG Maker game) is a terrific touch as well, and significantly adds to it.

My second favorite thing about the game would have to be the art style. It looks beautiful, similar to Okami, except 2D and it doesn't give you a headache if you move around really fast. The backgrounds look like a Japanese painting, and the character art is well-done too.

The Gameplay, while sometimes frustrating and difficult, works really well with the game. Because I'm sure it's supposed to be frustrating and difficult. The controls will have you fumbling with the arrows, Shift, and Space keys as you try to swivel, hop, and long jump your way across platforms. It's not the most user-friendly control system (especially the long jump, which led to me dying many, many times), but it's a lot of fun.

The only thing that bothered me about the game was the soundtrack. Aside from the dialogue scenes, there was one song on an endless loop, and it got a little annoying. However, it wasn't a massive deal, and I'm sure it will change in future versions.

Anyway, what I'm getting at with this is: download the freaking game. It's definitely the second greatest video game demo I've ever played. The first is Just Cause 2. Mainly because it gave you 30 minutes to f*ck sh*t up to your heart's desire. But still. It's definitely a fun demo, and well worth your time to mess around with the game.

Thanks for the great review, nickaboo!
I honestly didn't think many people were interested in this one. This definitely gives incentive to continue on with it and hopefully not disappoint.
The feedback is also much appreciated as it will definitely help us improve.
