These bunnies are going to ̶k̶i̶l̶l̶ ̶ traumatize me!

Oh no!
Bunnies. AGAIN! (see my last review for more about this!).

There bunnies are a real nightmare, and not only for me! Nightmares (duh!) of Jumping Bunnies is a game made by calunio using RPG Maker 2003, an entry for his Secret Santa 2012 to Marimo.
The simple premise of the game is that demons have nightmares about bunnies (well, now I will too have these nightmares, I guess I am a demon too then!). Considered this, the protagonist and our alter-ego in this game is... a bunny? No, it's an unnamed demon... uhm for simplicity I will call my alter-ego Astolfo. Astolfo has to escape each of the ten nightmares finding a bed in a labyrinthine colorful setting (how terrible this place must be for a demon!).
But then there are the bunnies: these cute pink giant furry creatures aren't ging to harm Astolfo, but they are chasing him to hug and trap him, so he is forced to stay forever in their dreamlike world.

ASTOLFO CAN SLEEP COMFORTABLY EVEN WITH ALL THESE GUYS AROUND HIM!

Ugh! yeah, there is no game over in this game, only a fate worse than death!
Pressing Shift you can reset the game but this means that yu have to restart from the first level! (well yes, using Shift or the good old F12 has few difference since in this game YOU CANNOT SAVE ever!).

As Astolfo progress the game levels become bigger and the number of bunnies grows up. They often appears from nowhere and even if they are harmless, you will soon fear their sweet voices. Later you will also find some stationary bunnies that will just pirouette standing on the spot, and will act as simple obstacles.

This game has little variety, but like the recently made (and reviewed) GOK - grab/open/kill, this is a little present made in a very short time so there is no variation of setting and oppositions, but the graphics (that are custom! Mind that!) including the cute charsets (both the bunnies and our Astolfo, whose expression is really funny!) are a really pleasant view.

What about the music? The Secret of Mana background music is very appropriate and you will heard it a lot even if the "I love you!" uttered by the maniac rabbits will be even more memorable. I am sure!

What else? I guess nothing more, so let's wake up and read the...

LET ME GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Final Verdict!
Nightmares of Jumping Bunnies will be a real nightmare for any player. The first time I played it I reached the final level and I told to myself "Hey that's pretty easy!". Wrong! I failed and restarted the game.
Again.
Again..
Again...
And again. Yes, because it's an addicting game, each run is pretty short (even if you play all ten levels, and I did), and for the first time I must admit I did not finish this game (but at least I reached the final part!). But I will, it's a promise, even if this will take me forty years of tries.

Yeah, this is a sort of "joke" game, and unlike GOK I cannot take it seriosly. But did I have fun? Oh sure I did! I mean, it's a bit a game of luck since I did not understand how the game mechanically works, and there are no explanations, just "run towards the bed before you are surrounded and blocked by a crowd of silly bunnies". Yeah. I guess you need some strategy and lots of luck to win.

Anyway I like the idea, it's a clever concept packaged with a cool simple story and setting. Astolfo won't stop trying to win that tenth level, that is sure!

This was Nightmare of Jumping Bunnies. A game that gets a 3.5!
I hope next game won't have bunnies with hideous voices AGAIN!

This is RpgMakerAddict, over and out.

Thank you for the review! And I'm glad you are traumatized by like it!

It's funny that you see this is a joke game and not GOK, cause I feel like they have pretty similar concepts. Maybe it's just hard to take a bunch of bunnies saying they love you seriously!

Ahahah no, there is another reason: while it is true that they have a pretty similar concept, GOK starts with a detailed explanation and tutorial. Seems a simple but articulated game.
Here instead NoJB just starts with "run from the bunnyez!" and that's all. No explanation of mechanics or other info... probably because it is not necessary!
