I first called my project Lufia Black because it's gonna be a darker tale. For a long time after that, the title of the game was Lufia Rebirth. Now after losing almost 3 years worth of data and progress, things have changed. The important things are the Engine of the game and the story itself. The sprites and tilesets will be customized. I'll try to keep everything within the scope of Lufia ROS and FOD. I plan to include as many things as possible.
Oh! By the way, don't expect this game to measure up to the others, it might not be so much to look at :/

Looks pretty neat. How do you think the battle system will play out? I'd go the Lufia 2 route if possible. There are quite a few Lufia fangames already that mimic the style of Lufia 1. I like the graphical style of Lufia 1 but 2's are more mature in a sense. I'm not saying ditch the graphical style at all. Just find a way for this game to be separated from the rest of em'. Good work, hope to see more screens and info if possible.
Believe me, I will find a way :). I'm not sure about the battle system yet. I'm trying to figure out which one of 'em I like the best
One of the best ways to decide the battle system is to decide which styles you like. In Lufia FOD, It was a really traditional RPG with simple attacking, healing magic, and simple spells. It featured a Turned-Based battle system as well.

Lufia II however, had a unique battle system that made you use a HUGE variety of IP attacks and spells in order to take down your foes, strengthen your party, and stay alive. Lufia II was also Round-Based instead of Turn-Based.

Here is the full list of Lufia II IP and spells
Complete List of Lufia II IP and Spells

Lufia II arguably had the better play style compared to Lufia I, but the decision is yours.
Thanks for the list. Trust me, I had taken all of that into consideration. The magic will still have the same names. Well some of it anyways
Lol I hate to be the one to necropost but this looks good, I'm glad it wasn't COMPLETELY cancelled, and it seems to have a lot of potential! Good luck!

By the way, if anyone ever finds out how to emulate the battle system from Lufia FOD, PM me and give me details, lol!

The Battle System in Lufia FOD was very similar to Final Fantasy IV, except enemies couldn't attack while you made your decisions. So, its like Final Fantasy's ATB on wait mode instead of active.
.Necropost? I like that . I'm glad that you think that my game looks good. The only reason why it's on hiatus is because of my full-time work schedule. I can only work on my game for a few hours a week. This pushes my release date waaay back and I didn't want to make any promises.
My game is very much active. :)

Oh! If I find a way to emulate FOD I'll share it.

Actually, I was referring to the graphical setup where the character turns to face you and "attacks in place". Lol but thanks for the reply ^_^

Touché!

I'm looking forward to playing most of the Lufia fangames on this site. I can't wait for the demo to this one.
Good to see the game is back on production! What ideas do you have for the future of the project?
Well for starters, I think its time that I changed the engine.
As for everything else, I'll see what I can use in the game before I post stuff.
While I love the "vintage" engines, I have to agree that an engine upgrade is the better option. You will be keeping the graphics and such, won't you?

Also, I look forward to the completed product, whenever that may be.
Yes, they will just be a little better and more detailed. Im glad that you're looking forward to this game.
I absolutely adore the Lufia series, and I can't wait to play this one :D

This isn't dead? :o Nice!

Of course not, these 10-12hr shifts keeps this game in a coma. Lol
I'm too stubborn to put together a team, but these hours are making me think twice :(
Looks good, hope a download becomes available soon.
I am so gonna play the shit out of this game when a download comes available.
