Hey all just thought I let you know I got my pc fixed, but I been pondering the story progression in the game...

IDK what to do, I want to rebuild Lands of Lunori story, but starting over is a long step. I could keep all the maps and tie them into a new story using Lands of Lunori build and A journeys End, but should I?

Man I dont feel like a great designer right now, cant even get a game out so hard, always unhappy with certain things...

I personally want to start the story over and build on a mix up, it would lengthen the game and I might be happier with it...Maybe...

What do you guys think?

You have to finish a game. Can't keep on starting over or rethinking your ideas too much. I personally thought Journey's End was a great Demo. It had great mapping and used the XAS battle system (I think) very well. When you release the game you can always add updates and fixes later if your not happy with the product.

You have great programming knowledge and can do things I can only wish I could do in my games, but the first step has to be to finish the game.
Kory's right. You're better off finishing this game and starting a new one than starting all over without completing a game.
Jenna, you almost sound a lot like me, never truly being completely satisfied with anything I do and always wanting to go back and change things or expand upon it to make the overall game even better and larger in scope. Sure, that may sound all great and stuff, going back and wanting to change things for the better – but like Kory said: you just need to finish a damn game. It doesn’t have to be the fanciest or the most well-polished game in the world – but as long as it gets done and plays alright that’s all what really matters here. Just put Lands Of Lunori on hold until you can complete this game and then go back and work on it. If you’re having trouble finishing this game, why not try and shorten some things up / cutting some of the more unnecessary things in order to make the game more manageable for yourself.

Either way, work smart and just believe. And one of these days, you’ll be the one laughing at us. ^^
I know, after being blown by something as devastating as that... But still, be consistent. Finish what you've started first, Jenn. There's always time to remake, but not to finish it!
I would say finish the game but I know your feeling all too well. And I'll be not with the majority here but I'll say since you're still early in the game, do what you want and stick with it. And this time make backups in dropbox :p
You want to enjoy making your game. So make sure you like the story and characters. If you feel the story needs changes or rewriting, go for it!

Keep it manageable: downsize the project if needed. Split it in chapters so you can release them one after the other. You'll be proud of it, get feedbacks and encouragements.

Take some time to plan. And do write a plan! Cross your achievements on the plan to make your progress visible. It'll strengthen your motivation towards your goal: finish your game!
