Great for What it Was

This review will be short simply because there hasn't been much traffic in regards to this game in quite a long while, and there doesn't seem to be a need to rally for or against this game as when it first appeared on the site.

To begin, I'd like to say this is a pretty impressive game. It reminds me of a few other decent RM2K/3 games that I have played, and as such, is also incomplete like those other decent games. It must be the RM curse that whenever a game comes along that is better than most, it will sadly go unfinished. In any case, the game has a lot to offer for any rpg fan. Its story is a mix of fantasy and sci-fi, the visuals and mapping, while not top notch, are fairly good, there's a lot of treasure to find, dungeons to crawl through, enemies to battle, and the world map has a sort of Sims vibe in that you must restore "deleted" areas.

Overall, I am definitely impressed.

However, there are certain flaws that I think should be overcome if this game were ever to be revisited. To begin, the story tends to drag in a few areas, and I found myself getting bored a few times. Secondly, there is a bit of lack in direction, especially in finding Hawk in the woods. Because of this, it took me forever to find the World Map Data I needed to recreate the cliffs leading to Topple's lab. Finally, the battles were a bit too one-sided, and by this I mean enemies tend to hit hard and offer little in terms of rewards, and my characters felt weak, even at higher levels. The hero, being rumored to be the Lux, should have been much stronger than he was. None of the skills offered much advantage, and there was a high need for a few attacks that hit all enemies at once.

Quite a list of things that should be updated, if the game ever gets remade or revisited, but don't let that stop you. If you are looking for a story that's fresh and unique from what you typically see, then you should give this one a try.
