Brief Hiatus

Hi, guys.

So right now, there are four projects I am actively working on:

A Tale of Valera
Porcupine Princess
Radiant Chain
The Last King of Hyrule

Kolmesarta is about 75 percent complete, but it's on hiatus until at least one or two of those is complete (or my contributions to Radiant Chain are done). I also want to get a second demo of Valera out within the next few weeks.

Progress Report

Game is almost done, but for now...a demo.

I posted a demo of the first 60-70 percent of the game. The full game won't be -too- far behind, but any feedback I receive from the demo will be applied to the final release, so anything is appreciated. I just need to find a free day where I can just plow through the rest of this game - free time is hard to come by these days!

I tried to throw a twist into the gameplay, in which magic uses TP and physical skills use MP. I didn't have a real design blueprint in mind when I made the switch...I just figured it would be a fun change and went from there. It does prevent players from abusing elemental weaknesses early in a battle. The major flaw in this choice is that healing spells are useless outside of battle...if I have the skill space, I may add duplicate healing spells that can be used outside of battle with MP. I dunno.

Some of the workarounds I used for Kolmesarta were the same ones I used back on my canceled Ace Trial game, Deltapower. I use special tiles for treasure; if you step on them, you'll obtain loot. Regions and conditional branches are the keys of success, and you have to be willing to put in some tedious work to turn your Lite project into a game of realistic scope.

It's not hard; you just have to make the most out of the events you have. I am pretty convinced that it's possible to make a good 10 or 15-hour game with Lite, but it will take far more work than the full version: and it will be significantly limited due to need for workarounds and the lack of custom scripts.

Still, as many of us can recall from the 2k3 days, working around limitations is half the fun!
