One day, Mario and Luigi received a letter inviting them to a hip-happening party going down in the mysterious World 9. After a long journey filled with trials and tribulations, they began to notice the imposing veneer of a towering stronghold...in World 7.

This was the legendary Fortress of Solitude. No one who has gone in has ever come out again. Will you be the first to do so?



Castles - Masterpiece Set is a compilation of castle levels in SMBX by the RMN community. It isn't so much a game as it is a gallery of levels. The focus of this event was Level Design: To make castles that are more engaging via the obstacles and layout of each level rather than through atmosphere or graphics. It's pretty tough!


~TO INSTALL~
1. If you don't have it, download SMBX (it's free!).
2. Download the gamefile and extract the .zip to the SMBX "worlds" folder.
3. Start up SMBX, click "Start Game" on the splash screen, and you're ready to go!

Yep, seems like the same difficulty as the other RMN compilations. As in I die in the first stages.

Seems legit.

just finished. it will be a while before i post the review because i need to clean it up and take screens and make a few things.

overall, i had fun and the levels were well done. a few disappointments but it didn't hurt the overall score very much.

nin8halos, lets do a NES themed game or event or something. those levels were the best. i feel like doing a blaster master level now :D

I've thought about doing something like that. Each world would be styled after a different game, but there would be some overlapping elements. This would probably be better as a collaboration rather than an event. If enough people are willing to pitch in, I'd be up for it.

Thought about doing that too, but haven't been motivated enough to make it myself. I'm surprised someone hasn't done it already. I'd contribute something to it if anyone wanted to start the project.

I was going to make a Blaster Master level for Talking Time Bros. but I ran out of time.
i have a zelda 2 game started, actually. my interest in it waned one time and never waxed. if anyone wants to see a demo, or make it with me, or take what i made so far and make one themselves, just PM me. i will be finishing one eventually but there's no telling when that could happen heh probably sooner with a group effort.

same with an NES game. i want to make one eventually, i have graphics made for random games already :3

same with my mario paint game.

same with my mario kart game.

same with the other 10 ideas that will catch my eye before i finish anything. oh yeah, the ghostbusters one. (i have youtube vids for most of these ideas, btw xD)

Link can you tell me how you got through the boss of King Koopa's Kult Klassic?
from my experience, none of the projectiles will hit you if you stand at the edge of the lava. it's just a matter of not hitting fireballs when you jump.
A bit of Advice:
When you design an world map in SMBX, to avoid potential music glitches while navigating the overworld, it is best to seperate the map into different regions by warp pipes. Place music numbers on each warp pipe that mario emerges from.
Numbers scattered on a continous map can lead to a another type of music glitch.

Are you pitching ideas to Super RMN World? This game uses a hub system, not a world map. Could you please clarify?
I thought it'd be at least another couple of weeks before this was released. Mind if I do a Let's Play series?
