Introduction:
Calunio drops another masterpiece, but it won't leave you smiling. I'm afraid the title is misleading. You've been tricked into reading a review that will leave a deep sinking feeling your heart. Yes, you can feel it now.

Story - 4/4
This is definitely not Calunio's sexiest game, but it does start with conception.
The game involves slowing walking across the same turf again and again in an attempt to gain power through slowly grinding in battles. You eventually can beat the boss, but in your moment of conquest you are struck down with a curse. Now you'll slowly rot away. You then reach a tower and gather allies to conquer the tower. Can you make it to the top? Does it even matter? You can't be the best. The game is set against you. The fortune teller only mocks your attempts at finding happiness. You are depressed.

Gameplay - 4/4
It is a typical RPG. There isn't much variety in weapons or armor. There is little to explore. Yet, it all works. It constrains you, in way that hits uncomfortably close to home. At the same time, it is fairly well balanced. The numerous monsters reflect the numerous challenges of life.

Graphics & Mapping - 4/4
This game includes custom black & white graphics that shine in a strange beauty. At times it seems surreal. There is also a lot of repetition of certain backgrounds, but it isn't any worse than weight slowly being added to your chest until your ribs break. Repetition like the endless routine of life. The graphics are memorable and good looking

Sound & Music - 3/4
It isn't so exciting. It's like the hum that you sing to yourself as you cry yourself to sleep. So sweet... So smooth... So sad...

Atmosphere - 4/4
The atmosphere is as depressing as new baby shoes being sold used. In other words, brilliant. This is perhaps the one of the only indie game that actually achieves this mellow kind of mood.

Conclusion - 19/20 or 5/5
10/10 would become depressed again.

Thanks for this review! You summed it up great!
Just curious... how did you end the game?
I got up the tower to a point in which there was a boss who kept kicking me right to the title screen. Max level and couldn't beat it. I did miss the dog until maybe attempt 12 or so and I didn't manage to be able to get the dog up before the exp drain really began to become way to burdensome.
