This game is no longer being updated due to data loss caused by a computer wipe.

An alternate title was considered (Sweet Tooth: Sugar Crush) but then subsequently rejected as it was too similar to a certain mobile game.

ETA: End of December & a few notes

I'm not one to abandon games that I've publicly revealed ;)

That said, this game will definitely receive its conclusion. For now, take a few gameplay tips (no story spoilers, but spoilers for gameplay, I guess):

Events happen based on number of times you've done an activity, as well as based on whose route you're on + the #of days left.

There are two definite situations per route- one where your shop is in debt, the other where it is not. Shop income is calculated per day and increases as your quality of food and service increase. Food quality points increases the revenue more than service points do, and hype points are multipliers that can double/triple/quadruple/raise sales through the roof.

Hype points are gained whenever you max either service or cooking (or do an activity that you have already maxed) and are usually reset at the end of each day (Permanent hype points gained through media exposure last pretty much forever). Each additional hype point multiplies that day's earnings by 150%, and this multiplier stacks.

I hope that can help with those who have trouble getting out of debt. It's definitely possible, especially if you're on William's route. Just keep going to the kitchen every day, and you'll soon be rolling in dough. Figuratively, literally, and money-wise.

Did you have fun drawing food?

I only drew one thing, the pudding. It was okay I guess. I could do a lot better now, I think ^^

This reply is long, so I'll spoiler it.

Any hints on how to get the other endings? I'm
guessing it's just choosing the different dialogue options for William to get his 2 other endings? Not so sure.

Currently, there are only 4 endings (though the ending screen has the "full list"), with some other bonus content for Kyle (but no endings other than that one). The endings are decided by the points you accumulate (so avoid the person whose route you're on to get his "bad" ending). It's not so much of dialogue options rather than simply having less points. Some of the "bad" endings are only accessible if you go into debt.

* My name is Benjamin, and they prompted me to enter my name, even though I didn‘t know my gender, so I'm Benjamin the girl, and my pastry
shop is named Pastry Shop.

xD Yeah, maybe I should've made it more clear, but then it wouldn't allow for situations like this.

* The backgrounds are what I think are real pictures but put through some kind of paint filter.
* The little characters are cutely drawn.

You're absolutely right, and thanks ^_^

* You replay the same section again a few times. It would've been nice to have a "skip text you've already read" button. I haven‘t played many
VNs, but I remember seeing it in April Was a Fool and it was really useful and cut down wasted time rehashing old routes.

Maybe I should've made this clear as well, but there are certain controls that are universal on Ren'Py games:
Hold CTRL to skip already read text
Press pageup (or scroll mouse wheel up) to "roll back" dialogue and choices (you can even change your choices this way)
Right click or ESC to access the menu
Press S to take a screenshot
V (or ctrl+v?) to enable voice assisted mode for blind/near-blind people
... and I think there's more but those are the main ones that I'm aware of.
Oh, and you can navigate the entire game through the arrow keys and your keyboard, as well.

* It would've been nice if they told you how to save. I'm not that accustomed to VNs so I didn't think I could just press Esc during text (you can't in
RPG Maker) but now I can see why it's a little bit obvious.

If you look really closely at the bottom-right corner, it says "Right click to access the menu" and on the menu screen, it says "Right click to dismiss". Maybe I should make the font bigger xD

* It's not very apparent what each of your actions do, and even when you have the chance to purchase something. like food from other shops.
the game doesn't show you your balance, which I would assume is a rote design decision.

If you don't have enough money to buy something, the choice to buy it will not appear on the screen. And if you have enough money to buy something on the later days, your profit is probably greater than your expenditures per day anyway.

* There's Hype, Intel, Quality and Service, and I‘m not sure yet how each activity affects. I know you gain money from serving at the store front. I
wonder how you get hype?

Money gained on a given day is calculated by a formula that is (simplified):
(a*quality + b*service)*hype
where a and b are constants and where a > b. Intel does not increase profits. Hype is pretty much temporary (reset to 1 at the end of each day), and can be gained by maximizing either quality, service, or on the journalist route (which doesn't currently exist).

Played this. It was interesting! I haven't finished it, though. I've only got endings #1 and #6. Any hints on how to get the other endings? I'm guessing it's just choosing the different dialogue options for William to get his 2 other endings? Not so sure.

My unfiltered notes so far:
* You're prompted to enter your name.
* Apparently I'm the sole heir to a pastry shop.
* My name is Benjamin, and they prompted me to enter my name, even though I didn't know my gender, so I'm Benjamin the girl, and my pastry shop is named Pastry Shop.
* A rival sweets shop has opened not far away.
* Your parents go to steal techniques from other shops in hopes of becoming the best shop on this street.

* The backgrounds are what I think are real pictures but put through some kind of paint filter.
* The little characters are cutely drawn.

* The game has an interesting "flag" system that tells you which path you're currently going down.

* I finished one of the endings, and it ended badly. Apparently I let a spy know of the existence of my recipes. I guess I'll be more careful next time.

* You replay the same section again a few times. It would've been nice to have a "skip text you've already read" button. I haven't played many VNs, but I remember seeing it in April Was a Fool and it was really useful and cut down wasted time rehashing old routes.

William is the sous chef.

* There is an interesting system where you can choose where to go.
* It would've been nice if they told you how to save. I'm not that accustomed to VNs so I didn't think I could just press Esc during text (you can't in RPG Maker) but now I can see why it's a little bit obvious.

* You have 15 days to do activities, and each activity takes a day, because your parents come back at the end of that duration.
* It's not very apparent what each of your actions do, and even when you have the chance to purchase something, like food from other shops, the game doesn't show you your balance, which I would assume is a rote design decision.
* Events happen on fixed days.
* There's Hype, Intel, Quality and Service, and I'm not sure yet how each activity affects. I know you gain money from serving at the store front. I wonder how you get hype?
* Serving customers increases service, obviously. I think checking out the competition increases hype and intel. It'd be nice if there was a bit less confusion.

* So I managed to hit no flags.

* The portraits are cute and bouncy.

* William's route involves a lot of romantic cooking and tutorship.

* As for endings, I achieved ending #1 first, which quite hilarious. Next was ending #6

Shoot, 11 downloads and nobody reported this error. I'll try to rebuild a distribution for and upload soon-ish. Thanks for the report!
The characters look really cute 8D
I tried to load it up, but for some reason, I got this error :
Is it an error on my end?

I'm sorry, but an uncaught exception occurred.

Haha, thanks xD There is, sadly, a lack of sugar-related puns ingame, but that mostly stems from lack of time. Thinking up ways to create double meaning is too much work for a 2-3 day left rush to the finish line xD

That said, I might not finish in time after all... I can probably completely finish one more route, but that's it ;_;

The 524 is for 524 Stone Crabs

This looks pretty sweet!

@psy_wombats: Thanks :3 Just don't get too hungry and end up trying to eat this game's title image, haha
@Addit: Oh, wow xD No pressure, eh? I'll try my best to polish it to a shine.
Hmmmm…I actually might give this a try and a review for it when it’s completed. Besides, I need to review something for the non-RM event, anyway, and I’ve seen some of your past work before and always wanted to try one of your games out. So consider this, for now, a friendly subscribe. :)
This looks pretty nifty.

(also I want flan now)
