STORY:
Death has always been her enemy.

After the death of their parents, she was left with only her sister as family. However, she is young and has a weak body. Her sister, though previously very healthy, somehow got something worse than her. She couldn't understand what the doctors said, but she understood that she must do everything she can to help her sister.

When Death comes to claim the only one she has left, she wasn't just going to sit quietly and let it happen.

Play as a young girl attempting to rescue her sister from Death.

This game is team NeriAl's entry for the RPG Maker VX Ace Lite Cook Off. It was made in about two weeks using RPG Maker VX Ace Lite, the limited version of the engine.

Thanks for playing our game and for commenting! We'll be fixing the problems with this game in a remake. That one might take a while, but we will definitely make it. ^^

Reviewing contest games is fine, you're not a judge (and some judges will occasionally review a contest game anyway). Despite being submitted for the contest outside of that they're regular game profiles with regular rules- this applies for media and review submissions.
Cute and melancholy, just the way I like it. :3 I just finished this as one of the contest entries and despite a few problems it's one of the most charming offerings. I really liked your artwork

I ended up dying a lot to confusion though. The chase scene in the middle was good once I figured out I should actually run away, but that was after reloading many a time and starting to wonder if I was even supposed to grab the ladder at all or if it was a trap. I also felt like there was a puzzle or something I was missing when I just ran up and killed some of the enemies, but maybe I'm just a little too aggro from Hotline Miami lately...In the future, removing the attack function might possibly help gameplay focus more on poking around the house and solving puzzles. I did really like the action with the chases and sneaking around though.

I hope that didn't come across too critical, I liked it enough to pick it apart and hope that might help, lol.

About the killing, it's all right, we added the option to just kill them instead of doing the puzzle as a second solution, but thanks for the advice. I'm still deciding on that for the remake. ^^ For the chase scene, admittedly, we forgot to add in the save option before it. Sorry about that. It's really our fault. (_ _) We'll fix that when judging ends.

Oh, saving wasn't really too much of an issue in the game. You guys did a good job with save points; whenever I couldn't save, it made sense at the time for suspense and wasn't too far removed from another save spot enough to be a pain. In the first chase scene, it just took me too long to figure out that I should run away instead of trying to fight or sidestep him.

As just an idea, maybe you could delineate better between puny wandering henchmen you can attack and reaper 'bosses' that need to be puzzled to death or run away from in the remake.

Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to a remake, I can even see some really interesting parts of the story you left open to explore later, like why using the scythe is really so seriously do not want. Here in the contest entry, that could maybe be seen as a major plot thread left loose, but I can see how you couldn't really explore it fully within the game's timescale without it maybe seeming melodramatic or flippant depending on your plans.
What kind of problem are you experiencing? Have you tried switching browsers? ^_^

I just finished your game! I had so much fun and there were many parts that posed a fun challenge (the end REALLY kicked my butt but I didn't give up (also butt but, LOL)) I can understand what most are saying about the sound. I loved the calm music and how each piece, though few, set the atmosphere. Most of all I love how you didn't lose focus of the game part of the game. Both the story and the game play kept me interested. Another thing I really like is how you used a lot of the stock resources, it was fun to see familiar things in a new way, and how the character commented about them, and the artwork was so cute!

This was a fun little game! I liked the custom artwork. The pictures, character sprites, and animations were all well done. Although it is really rough around the edges. For example, the inventory screen is really clunky and not responsive at all. Sometimes I press the menu key and it doesn't work.

I'm actually really impressed at how much work went into this game overall, though. Being able to see the lower floor of the house from the upper floor is a really clever use of tilesets.

Because the game is so short, the flaws are not present enough to really drag down the experience. Honestly, all the good points about this game far outweigh the flaws.

If I understand this correctly, you two intend to remake this game? I know it's been some time since you were active, and chances are you won't even see this comment. But I sincerely hope a remake of this comes out, and I will be waiting to play it.

Short but a nice piece of the RMN games. I had a good time on it.
It appeared there're some funny harmless bugs like a musical note popping up above Emi's head incoherently which I also had fun of it. :)
