Entry for the RPG Maker VX Ace Lite Cook Off.

Naia, a young woman from a poor background, travels to the grand city of Alchemy where Alchemists enrich the citizens and light the streets at all hours of the day. Some are mere craftsmen of ordinary objects and others are master engineers, known across the world.

Naia desires to learn the secrets of Alchemy from the best, the great Master Ernest. However, he has never taken a pupil though many have sought his tutelage. What will make Naia different from the rest?

It's a nice little game!

But...
It's so short! So very short! ;_;

The alchemy system is a little lackluster, but that's understandable.

I like the various alternate endings. :)

The queen's a bit short, isn't she?

Nice game overall, but so short!
Yeah. I wanted to do quite a bit more but I just didn't have the time. Especially with the past week. I was working double shifts and Valentine's day.

Also, the queen is a child, so of course she is short.
I updated the game. I realized that I hadn't put the credits in the actual game anywhere so now it's right at the beginning!
This is interesting, and I'd like to see what you do with it once the contest is over, so I'll subscribe.

With the download you've got up at the moment, I had to work around a missing resource error (Graphics/Characters/Vehicle) before I could start a game.

I also have some nitpicks:

  • There are a few typos -- 'tutelage' is misspelled in the introduction, and 'visitor' is misspelled in Naia's dialogue at the start of day 5.
  • Some of the scrolling text you've used is getting cut off.
  • I think you'll get some complaints about day 2, since whether you win or not looks almost entirely luck-based, but it seemed like losing was very unlikely anyway, so I'll give it a pass.
  • The 'Talk' command could be misleading -- I'd have preferred 'Done' or 'Finish' -- but there's a warning and a chance to go back, so I don't think it's actually a real problem.

EDITS: Added another nitpick, and mentioned a more serious issue.
@Pete: Thanks for the feedback and taking the time to play. I had a whole lot I wanted to do with the game and if time permits, this is definitely something I'll be working on more in the future. Yes, the material gathering is random, but I think I made it likely enough to get materials that it wasn't a problem. (Plus, you can save before you go and do it over and over again, reloading.)
I forgot about it when I first made that post, but I also ran into a missing resource error when I tried to start a new game.
Yeah, when I updated the download file with credits, I deleted a bunch of stuff I didn't need and deleted a file I shouldn't have. Poo.
Sweetie, all the files are missing. All of them. All the RTP files that should be in the folder... ;.;
I can't play or judge it like this. Please fix this. I should be able to just extract and play.
Yes ma'am. Thank you for bringing this to my attention and sorry for the trouble.
There were only two missing files, afaik. Replacing them was no problem. ...Anyway, I liked the story. It was kind of interesting. If only you could couple that with actual gameplay this could make a fun little game in the future. =P Actually, I have no problems with a game based entirely around menus, but as such it needs to be a lot more intuitive and stylistic to pull it off.
You can require in the RTP by adding this:
rtp=RPGVXAce

to game.ini

which is what I did to get the game running.

I would've tried just modifying the project itself, but it doesn't seem like you can use the full version of Ace on a lite project.
Gibmaker
I hate RPG Maker because of what it has done to me

Well I finished this ... Obviously it is under-realized in this version. :X So it's probably pointless to mention that you would need a more intensive GUI for using alchemy if you plan on working on this more, since as it is we can't even view the recipes for the different items! I would also add that as awesome as Town3.ogg is, it gets kind of annoying considering it plays for practically the entire game. ;)
I really like this one for what's here and really hope you do get the chance to put more work into it in the future. Your writing is so charming and rich without getting all full of itself like a lot of people with your ability get caught up in. I noticed you added different reactions to the daily tasks depending on just how well you succeed too; it's a nice little touch of depth that shows off your thoughtful design.

I think I'd like to see some exploration-based gathering in a future version though. As it stands, with few characters and day planner style gameplay, I felt fairly claustrophobic.
Is demon strictly demo? Or main game it will open up bit! PS how do what you do with the map? and not see actor on screen at all?
