Elsa, a Death Knight working in the mainland, returns home to Helena's Kingdom to "save" it from monsters...But all is not as it seems.
For one, the monsters don't attack people; they just make themselves a nuisance. And they will only fight females.
Join Elsa as she sets out to defeat all the monsters on the island and discover what is it that the monsters are planning.

-Made for the VX Ace Lite cook off contest.
-Boss rush gameplay. All enemies are powerful one-time encounters.
-No grinding for items or experience. Each of the four powerful bosses unlocks a new level and items are freely replenished.
-Choose from 10 supporting party members, each with a unique skill set and mechanics.
-3 different endings and various new game unlockables..
-Humorous characters and lighthearted storyline.
-Complete game takes around two hours (Seeing only one ending. You mileage may also vary).
-Online achievements.
-This game is part of the Arum universe.

The game was made in a two week deadline for the VC Ace Lite cook off contest.
Being made within the Lite limitations, there were a lot of things we could not pull off smoothly, because there is no script support, only ten events per map, twenty maps total, and a bunch of other stuff.
Please keep that in mind when playing, since many of the things that may come to mind as odd gameplay choices are not us, but Lite being a complete evil bastard XD
Update! The recent version has been revamped a bit and we removed the ace limitations (as well as adding a few extras) so that's taken care of. Enjoy ;3

Lastly: please, please give us your feedback!
What bosses did you find harder? What was your best team? Did you get all the endings? And if so, which was your favourite?
(When talking about endings or plot events, please put the text within a spoiler and put a warning before it. They’re supposed to be a surprise ;3)

Glad you both enjoyed it and thanks for the review ArtBane.
Mrs. Indra I don't know how to make a character say their custom name that the player chose. Can you tell me how?

Use the \n(x) command in the dialog. It will print the text on the Actor ID X.
(So if the first actor's set name is Mariah, \n(1) will print that ingame)

Edit: Ugh, the forum is beign silly about the backets. Instead of normal () it's the square ones. The forum formatting jsut won't let me use it ;-;
For more reference, hover the mouse over the text input screen in the editor. It'll give you a list of commands you can use.
I cant beat the three M's. At this point Victoria still cant join
Have you spoke the Queen? To trigger the night scenes just speak to the maid after beating any of the shadow bosses.
Yes and she sends me to rest and when I wake its night time and the same battle is there all over. I have swapped out different members and used the skills available but some of the hits kill them immediately and once fully revived killed immediately again. I have altered my attack as well taking out the lesser ones first or concentrating on mother first. Maybe I am simply having bad luck. Is Veronica supposed to be recruited by this time?
Oops misunderstood which fight. I thought you meant the 3 Medusas. Kill them in the order of youngest to oldest, the oldest sibling only counters anyway. Not sure who you mean by Veronica, if you mean the thief in the dungeon then she can be recruited at anytime:
http://rpgmaker.net/games/4844/helpunlock/
Sorry I meant Victoria. Yes I should have been more precise about the three M's. And I did go back and kill off the youngest ones but the Mother just keeps on coming and killing far too frequently with an instant death hit.
Maybe on the bosses it would be a good idea to have a gauge to give an idea how much fight they have in them.
Since there are no more monsters unless theres something after this battle, there isnt another way to level up. Finding the right group is the answer I guess. And the swords LeRoy sells....I dont quite get it. They all seem to have the same sats.
She has a skill that adds Poison, Sleep, Stun and Burn.
You can try Alan again, she'll attack him more than the others, the other equipment you can buy has more Runes allowing Elsa to attack with her more powerful skills more often.
You can always try Libby's method:

Congratulations on getting featured! Just started playing this not too long ago and I LOVE IT! Oh man, the dialogue is fantastic and actually had me laughing-out-loud 'fo REAL, yo! Haha. The light-heartedness just adds so much to the charm this game has, and I'm glad I finally got around to trying it out.

I've only played for 45 minutes (roughly) so far, but I've gotten 7 additional party members! Really enjoying mixing-and-matching them... although the battle system took a while to get used to. PRETTY SURE I've got the hang of things now, though not 100%. =P
Just finished my first playthrough got the Normal ending but I was pretty sure I figured out how to get the true ending about half way through and the after credit hints pretty much confirmed it...with the death scythe and the ring of death i might try hard mode this time.

As for my favorite party I went with:

1. Elsa - Initially because you have to but her abilities make her really versatile and can easily adapt to playing the healer (Blood), the damage dealer (Frost) or the damage taker (Bone) personally I found Blood and Ice the most useful as between Alan and to a lesser extent Argos I had plenty of tanking power. (Fun note: I renamed her Rachel which is what I use for most female protagonists ie. FemShep and it was fun to find out her grandmas name was Rachel I just thought to myself it's a family name :D)

2. Alan - At 1st I thought he was going to be useless since his only ability was monsters hate him but once he got the ability to attack after guarding (making him an ideal damage soak) he started to build EX really quickly than he got berserk which charges whenever he attacks which includes the defensive attack so between his rapid EX gain and the fact he attacks every turn it got up to 1000+% DMG pretty expediently he became a great damage dealer vs. bosses

3. Argos - This guy was key to my success against most boss monsters being able to crank all my characters to 400HP and 20 Defense power really helped against the more powerful boss attacks and some of the more tough normal enemies. Also if I needed to I could throw out Warriors Prayer to draw fire away from Alan. Lastly besides Elsa (blood fountain is amazing) he's the most consistent healer IMO mainly because unlike others there's no limit to his healing (ie. Ruby's spells need to charge which takes too many turns, Victoria's healing is too reliant on monster action, etc.) you just choose who you heal and it happens. I couldn't figure out what the protective ward spell did though.

4. Tira Misu - First off the premise of the character is hilarious Food+Explosions FTW but Lemon Meringue Shurikens were my best damage dealer throughout the majority of the game and once I got the death ring and started having Elsa smack Blood Fix on TM whenever possible this lady became unstoppable especially with 20 DEF and 400 HP from Argos. I rarely ever used the healing foods though.

Oh despite this being my favorite party I actually enjoyed messing with all the other characters unique abilities and I must give Carmen an Honorable mention for killing the Second Shadow Sibling for me with Death's Scythe.

Basic Battle Strategy: Argos boosts everyone's HP than defenses, Alan Guards...ALOT than uses berserk at around 1000% DMG, rinse, repeat), Elsa uses Blood Fix on Tira Misu whenever possible to boost EX otherwise uses Ex Pots on TM until they run out than Blood Fountain or best Ice Attack that doesn't use a death rune, Tira Misu Bakes Dangerous foods a bunch of times until EX is at a good level...than I kill the boss :)

Favorite/Hardest Enemies: The Slime and the first Shadow Sibling: The former messed with my BBS and killed me multiple times before I figured out the trick, the latter forced me to invent my BBS to beat him since he'd heal any damage dealt at the end of his turn (it seemed at least) so I cranked up Tira Misu's EX and blew him to kingdom cum.

One note though the RD was fairly useless you may have well just had the queen grant Elsa's new swords along with the levels I would have like to have seen new weapons for the other characters as well(if only to get some more awesome flavour text :D)...this is a VERY minor issue though I had a great time with the game and I was actually in a really bad mood when I downloaded this and it cheered me up so thank you :D

I hope to see more light hearted RPGs like this....any suggestions?
Glad you both enjoyed it, did either of you try out the online achievements? Curious to hear from any of the people who tried it.

The first major boss is trivial with Evvy and his tree. I'm a bit jealous, I've completed the game 7 times now and Carmen has never stole the death god scythe for me!

After his complete rework I'm glad to see Argos is getting some use now. Protective Ward stopped his MaxHP from falling below 200 when he used his tanking skill.

I'd recommend Dead Moon Night (also by me and Indrah) but it's nearly finished been revamped so I'd check back in a couple of weeks for it.
I also just completed the game! Got the "Normal" ending. I'll have to play through it another time and attempt to obtain the TRUE ending. Other than that, I loved this to bits! Amazing job, folks. Short, sweet, and a blast from beginning to end. Especially loved the dialogue. Perfect length, it's not too hard, lots of character choice and plenty of customization options so suit your play style...

Wonderful! Two big thumbs up! =D
I was wondering about that too, actually! Is the Invincibility Ring just there as a tease, or can you legitimately kill the Trap Chest?
Well I just finished the "True" Ending and the "special Ending as well as hard mode and I gotta say fighting the final boss on hard mode was brutal but totally worth the special ending which I vote should be entirely Canon :P or at least have a sequel where a group of Rebels try to take out the <spoiler removed> Empire.

Anyways you guys said this game is part of the "Arum Universe" is there other games like this...maybe dealing with Captain Robin or others of his kind...are they more serious or same tone?

Edit: NVM I think I found what I was looking for http://forums.rpgmakerweb.com/index.php?/topic/292-arum-the-rm-universe-general-information-and-discussion/ Is there any paticular chronological order to these?
