Name: Scima Invasion Crew

Developer: Brady

Story: You control an elite force of soldiers who's job it is to find and eliminate the rebel leader. Four go in. Anyone who dies get's replaced, but there are only eight of you, and you each have unique talents and skills. There. That's the story.

Gameplay: THIS. IS. NOT. A. TACTICS. GAME. This link takes you to a tactical battle system. You can immediately spot the difference. This is a standard RPG. It has strategic elements. There is nothing tactical in this game. Moving right along. You begin in a conference room, where you must choose your warriors skills. There are plenty of unique choices, from healers and medics to protectors to explosives experts. You form teams based on their abilities to work together. This is a great system. Sadly, the game is boring as hell. You search stretches of winding corridors of a dilapidated space station that all look the same and all of the rooms look the same, on giant maps. Most random encounters are button mashers. I suppose they'll get challenging when you run low on resources, but that isn't going to be for awhile. The game is low restorative items. Your characters have very limited restorative abilities, but there is little way to restore them. Obviously, the point is to add an element of conservation. All this really serves to do is frustrate the player. The game isn't interesting enough to care and with the dearth of restorative resources and nowhere to rest to speak of you start to quickly feel the pinch in a very dull game. My breaking point came when I realized I had played this for an hour, had gone through endless hallways of the same thing over and over again, with the same battles, and had only had one mini-boss fight which was essentially a bonus version of the same boring fights I'd been having. It was here that I learned that my marine had the aim of a stormtrooper. After this fight ended, I used his firearm ability until I ran out of ammo, and he didn't hit a single target. Every bullet was wasted: every single one. Not one hit their targets.

Graphics: Looks like Mack and Blu or Celianna, but I could be mistaken. Those floor and ceiling tiles certainly look like Celianna's work, and Mack's sci-fi chip certainly had plenty of pipes. Hell, I use them both, myself. I don't remember those cardboard boxes, though. The character sprites appear to be made in the character generator.

Music: Straight RTP, and the most repetitive selection available.

Conclusion: This is a boring RPG that promises interesting gameplay but fails to deliver. Skip this one.
