Lumina is a bright and wondrous world. Nothing, but peace reigns upon it. Conflict and War? They rarely happen. In this world, humans live with the Ludivines. They are beings on a higher pedestal, because they have the ability to manipulate the ominous source of energy... "Magic". , Unlike the humans who defy the law of nature, the Ludivines have always lived in the forests and they have always carried great pride of themselves---pride unbeaten by any.

However, there is one whose pride would be considered...questionable.

Lucile is a Ludivine had been disowned by her family, mainly her father, because she treats humans as if they were equals. She's shown interest in their odd, but curious inventions rather than focusing on the traditions of her people. Often lectured to abandon that odd interest, she has to make a decision to give up one or the other. She makes a decision to leave her home and her family. She lives near a river, not too far from her old home and not too far from Rolan town with Bell, the young feline spirit, who she had met during her trip.

Since then, Lucile has done several odd jobs, including one that forced her to explore the ruins of her hometown. And what she discovered changed her life and her worldview...

Lucile:

Age: 16 years old
Description:
She's a young and joyful girl who decided to leave her village because of her too many argument with her father.
Lucile is a airheaded girl and can be capricious sometimes but she's always smiling and very sociable.
Because of her Ludivine pride, she doesn't hesitat to help human in need.

Bell:

Age: ???
Description:
A young cat spirit. The spirit can take a human and animal form and can talk.
Bell was always alone and can fight pretty well. She meet Lucile few days after she left her village and since then, they lived together.
Bell really appreciate Lucile. She feel to be like a big sister to her.
Unlike Lucile, Bell is more introverted.

No more PM in here, the battle is still a turn based system but with a AP (Action Point) system.

There is six icon in the top-right of this screen.
These are AP. With them you can perform more than one action in one turn. Each action use one or more AP,. (Magic for example)
Each character have 3 AP and if they use 3 AP in a turn they won't be able to perform another action until the next turn.
Don't worry, if you have a skills who requiere more than 3 AP you can always borrow AP from your party members.

Skills:

Most of skills are in weapon and need SP (Skill Points) to be able to get and use them permanently.
You can obtain SP by defeating monsters and when you lvl up.

Quest:
To do quest, you need to find a NPC with a bubble like this:

He'll explain his problem and a quest will be add to your quest journal.

The numbers of stars represent the quest difficulty.
You can access to your quest journal in the menu.

Back to the project for real

Heh heh, well yeah. In case of you hadn't noticed it I'm back to the project since few weeks and this time, it's for real. You see, I tried to focus on my other project but I could not help to think of this one so after few maps I decided to work on Lumina for a while.
You might didn't know, but Lumina also participated to a french contest and only won the soundscape award. Adding to that I received several review and critic. So, I'm planning to change few things from the beginning of the game.
I started with the Rolan Town:
old version:

New version:

Those next environment will follow:
-Alnoa Forest
-Alnoa Village
-Stars (A big city I didn't show yet)

Lucile's complaint:
While I like her, we told me a lot that Lucile is annoying. What do you guys think ?
As for me, I think I'll reduce her capricious nature a little. As well of making her less naive.
But only for the beginning of the game. Lucile is supposed to grow in the game.
Aside from that, I'm very motivated to work on Lumina ! Ironically, I will not be able to release another demo soon but I will guaranty you that the game development will be fast...For this time at least.

PS: I not forget the project I told you in the previous blog. I'll talk about it later.

Thank you nhubi.
RitoJS, I should have a demo review for this game after I finish if I time. If I don't get around to reviewing the demo, I'll just give you some feedback. The game looks beautiful by the way.

Rose,

How do I turn SmartScreen Filter off or on?
The SmartScreen Filter can be disabled in the Internet Options of Internet Explorer. Open the Internet Options by clicking on Tools > Internet Options and switch to the Security tab.

Select the Internet Zone and click on the Custom level button. Scroll all the way down until the Use SmartScreen Filter setting which is Enabled by default. Selecting Disable instead and clicking on OK will disable the filter for general Internet usage.

You need to confirm the changes. This will disable the SmartScreen Filter so that no visited websites and computer information will be submitted to Microsoft.

It is also possible to turn of the SmartScreen Filter by clicking on the Safety link in the Internet Explorer toolbar and selecting SmartScreen Filter > Turn Off SmartScreen Filter. This menu can also be used to check websites manually and report potentially dangerous websites. The last two options can be performed even if the SmartScreen Filter has been deactivated in Internet Explorer.

That being said, RitoJS, you can upload a copy here to RMN, each gamepage gets free storage thrown in.

Alright, it's done.
Thanks Rose_Guardian :)

RitoJS, what tileset do you using with?
and how can i use that too?
A combination of Hanzo Kimura's tilesets and Celianna's tilesets

I couldn't find Hanzo tileset.
How are you doing this? Are you import the
Tileset into rmva directly or you using photoshop to make a map with tileset?
I have a question ^^
I am playing this demo right now and I am enjoying it.
But now I don't know what to do :o
I am right now in Alona (I don't know how to write it O.O) and I done all the quests I also was in that tower with her friend.
And now I don't know what to do anymore :o
Nothing.
You finished the demo, like I said before I forgot to announce it.
Just out of curiosity, what kind of games or other things inspired you to create this game the way you did?

Hum...Let's see.
The main purpose: I was sick of games including war, country conflict and "World is in danger, save the world".
Sure, they are a lot of good game with those things but I wanted to do something different with Lumina, something I really like without including some of obligatory rules because "Hey ! It's RPG".
Don't misunderstand though, Lumina HAVE conflict (internal one) but the main vibes of the game will be the same from the beginning to the ending.
In term of game, the first game wich bring me the idea of Lumina is a Japanese DS game: "Noora to toki" and well since it was in japanese I didn't really understand a thing but the main purpose was about a girl crafting various items and met a lot different people. And later I played a Atelier game for the first time : Atelier Totori plus.
A game when all you do is synthetize item with alchemy and doing some quest. The story is pretty small, there are no war and all (In Totori though).
My first though was: "Ho, It's like playing a anime, It's kind of relaxing".
So yeah, Atelier games is one of my main inspiration.
Finally finished the demo. It ends in Lucile's hometown without any hints of ending, but so far I liked it.

+ No saving world conflict with lot of characters that distucts you from main character. Also several hints about future mysteries
+ Very very good atmopshere, music and overall mapping
+ Lucile is nice character, not annoying
+ Good battle system with unique gimmick that makes it less repetetive
+ Alchemy stuff
+ Being not english speaking person I don't see any mistakes in your grammar )
+ Running from home conflict...

- ...ended rather dissapointed, aka "I'm sorry that I left" "Ok"
- Too little interactivity. No comments to various objects at all
- Basic minigames
- Weak underground mapping that reminds me that I'm still playing RMVX Ace game
- Load of bugs
- I liked that harpy...
- Love interest, go away!
- Need more wacky NPCs to make it more lively world
- I still don't get that running from hpme conflict
- There a no status art for Bell (
- Zero characters animations
- It's still a demo T_T

Thanks for playing !
Wich underground map do you find weak, I actually like most of my home map.
For the conflict, well six month has passed since then. Lucile and father had time to think about what they've done.
And for the whole conflict, you need to go futher in the game (thought RN, you can't). You'll know all about the protagonist past and personality later in the game (the order, will depend of you thought)
Still, this is not the first negative review of this, I need to read more of these.
Sorry for the Harpy x)
I'll try for the wacky npc.
A status art for Bell will be added
What do you mean by zero character animation ? They don't have any more sprite then the basic one ?
There will be more interactivity along with new object you can craft in the game (like the magic key of lvl 1)
As for the minigames, There will be more type of them in the future thought I don't know you'll find them original, (I hope at least ! )
Thanks again !
That means you nave only basic sprites without additional animations, it's subjective, but they all just standing all the time no matter that happens.
That's not a negative review, and not a review at all XD

I see, a friend of mine took a request of mine for release battle sprite. Thought he's pretty busy right now.

Yeah don't worry, I was just saying that was not the first negative note I read about the conflict stuff.
Sorry the misunderstood, not really good with english. x)
So far I love the game, it's beautifully made, and I love the characters so far! The English isn't the best, but I can understand it since your first language is French I'm guessing. I can generally understand what your getting at, and I can understand the french used.

But I do have a problem on my hands as of right now. I was playing the demo, and the screen went black on me. I can bring up the menu and go through everything, but the actual game seemed to have stopped working. Is there something I can do to fix this, other than start a new save file?

Well, I think it was either the 3rd or 4th of June. I had started the gem-finding game in Lucile's hometown, and as I had about 3 seconds left of the game, I went inside the building. As the time ran out, the screen blacked out and the game play never began again.

As stated before, I can still hear the music and I can bring up the menu and everything in it just fine, it's just the viewing of the game that has completely shut down.

And sorry it took so long for me to reply to this. I went on a vacation outside of the country I live in (US) and had little to no internet connection the entire time.
Great game. ONE question? where do I heal? Is there any INN's in the beginning of
the game??
Technicaly there is one at the first town but it supposed to be a luxurious one.
So can't sleep in there.
There a lot of way to heal (battles, recovery object, quest, or just do the story, you'll see).
Inn will be added in the next update.
i just started this game, and it seems really pretty and interesting. if you want any help with english, i would be happy to proofread stuff or do anything like that that could help you ^-^

^this! I'd love to see the game completed and in English because it's stacking up to be beautiful and quirky. I hope it's still being worked on. :D I'm loving the demo.
Thank you ^^
I did too much thing on it to just cancel the game.
I'm still working on it when I have time (but man, this year was hella busy for me)
