Butterfly Chronicles: Palemoon is the new title for Butterfly Remnant, as the previous one was merely temporary; I still had many things that needed to be done, and changing the name was one of them. The world map of Caisha will also be undergoing a slight redesign(but will mostly remain unchanged), as well as have plenty of expansions added onto it.

Story:

Continent of Southern Yemitel, May 1479.

Caisha, a world wrapped in never ending mist. No one has ever seen even a glimpse of sunlight, or even what it is. Anyone who has ever gotten close to the inner reaches of the mist becomes inflicted by a powerful curse, losing most of their precious memories. Vri'qua is the name given to those that are cursed, but why are they cursed? For what reason have they been branded, and why do the people of Caisha loathe those with the Vri'qua brand?

Xear Schwartz, a man cursed with the Vri'qua brand, must overcome a series of events thrown at him, while protecting both himself from the true evil of the world; people, and a young woman known as Eson Mesto from her own powers.

Features:

  • Seven very different playable characters! (Only six characters can join you, depending on the path you choose.)


  • Parallax Mapping!


  • A great deal of optional content! Chance Mini game, Fishing, Alchemy/Crafting, Mining, and more for when you want to take a load off, and relax~


  • Side-quests a plenty! (Depending on your path, these can be picked up at either a “Pub” for the Ruxenberg path, or a “Brotherhood” for the Novran path.) Some of these may even give out outfits!


  • Alternative Outfits! (These change the character's sprites!) A total of 75 outfits will be obtainable through the course of the game. Any outfit you collect will be stored in the home that you have purchased.


  • Different Outcomes! Based on your choices made throughout the course of the game, the storyline will branch out and follow a different path, allowing for multiple ways to experience the story. (Certain things will remain the same no matter what you do.) Going by this, you can follow both the “Ruxenberg” path and the “Novran” path, as you're given an indirect choice early on. (This, however, will shut out a character from joining. The one that doesn't join, may even end up as an enemy later on, so choose wisely!) Certain areas will also be blocked depending on the path you've chosen.


  • The Skill Master! Travel to the snowy island of Muisa, and give Gateway Orbs in exchange for learning new skills for your character. It can be visited from any Tear of Kismet.


  • Stat Trainers! These have replaced the stat points, and will allow you to train your stats manually for a fee. They will be found below either the pub or brotherhood in Ruxenberg and Novran.


  • The Power of Weapons! Every single weapon in the game (other than the default ones), has a hidden power that unleashes a unique, more powerful attack at a low rate.


  • Fully Interactive World! If something looks it can be interacted with, then it surely can be.


  • No random encounters! All enemy encounters will be roaming around on the maps.

Out of the "RIFT"!

Lol..yeah so for the past couple of weeks..I was basically obsessed with the MMORPG RIFT as it had just gone f2p. And, because of that I could hardly get in any work at all. Now, I haven't quit it completely, just that the f2p craze has died down within me, and I'm getting out of the haze~ Huzzah! o(^u^)9 (Okay, I friggin' love that, and I have like no clue what it is! Pacman/Kirby doing a fist pump with a big ol' happy face or something? xD)

Anyway, here's some good and bad news. The storyline has been revamped and changed from the 1800's and steampunk setting, back to the Medieval time of 1479. Now, was there a reason for the change? I actually think I might have said something about that..somewhere, but me being as scatterbrained as I am, oh well~ :p

Three playable characters have been removed because the amount of work was beginning to pile up just from even one or two character..so yeah they're gone, at least from being playable...for now. If you've been checking in then you'll know which ones were removed in the characters page. Oh, which now have their sprites included.

Now, every character has a different default playstyle, of course, but how will they be used? Xear starts out with heightened Celerity(Agility), and Armour(Defense), however he can become a pure offensive type magic user if you want not only by going to a stat trainer, but by picking a magic based star sign, choosing magic type skills from the skill master, and even cloth armor/staves which no character restricts to wearing. That still isn't every way to change how your characters improve by the way~ (Find them secret bonuses! ;D)

Welp, I'll end this with saying, yup Palemoon's out of the short hiatus, and I'm currently changing the tiles for the maps to more of an..RTP type look? I mean it won't be like full on square city of anything, just I guess more natural, and eye-pleasing, well at least imo. Anywho, cya'll around~ o(^u^)9

That limited save idea may be offputting to a lot of people. Would there be something like quicksaves so that players don't have to waste a save each time they want to stop playing?

Be very careful with limited save features. People like me are worried about them.

Yeah, I think I'll put in a quicksave..just found a script for it, so I'll try setting it up.

The item required for saving, is fairly numerous though (especially once you reach the chance game/alchemy); I mean I wouldn't do something as awful as only including like five of 'em or so.

Sit Ubu sit, good dog~ xD Welp, it'll be awhile before I setup the crafting/alchemy, but the mining and fishing are good to go..sort of a boring way to do 'em, but it works~ :3
Any sort of customizing and crafting is cool. All mini games and features are a plus to me.
Just curios, how far are you in making this game? Also please say you wont get bored like some other awesome games I can think of. AT least get a demo done. :}

I'm working pretty hard, just..well slowly, like usual(that cabin map took me about half a day, and I was entering an Insomnia-like state). As to how far I am, it goes from..Timaraun's shore, to the beginning of Neralin Forest; basically intro - entering first dungeon-type map. :x

More games (RM ones anyway) need to have alternative outfits, tbh. Gives players a more interactive experience, and lets them customize characters any way they want~ :3

I do know a small few of RM games that have included alternate outfits though, like Dawn's Light for example. :)

Only some I'll sprite myself. Others will be just pre-existing outfits recolored. :)
