You Must Do That In Zelda

This is a review for "You Can't Do That In Zelda" created by Isrieri using Zelda Classic. (Or as I like to call it "You Must Do That In Zelda.")

What's the most important aspect of this game:

This game manages to keep what needs to remain the same, but also at the same time gives enough change to keep it fresh. If you played the first Zelda on the NES you will feel right at home. You know how the game interacts and what the items do. But this game presents new items and ways of doing things that make it more difficult than the original (But in the good way.)

The hookshot is a good example of mixing the old with the new. And you'll be left wondering why they didn't put this item in the first Zelda to begin with.

And you always need to be pushing blocks in dungeons or exploring all the tiles to ensure that you can get through. It more than delivers on offering a new challenge.

What else does this game get right?

I think there's a decent level curve here. The dungeons start off pretty easy and get you into the game. (With the exception of the "One Shot Wizards" - See I even made a name for those guys, but you will be able to play around them once you know...) I thinks its around level 3 and 4 where is picks up the difficulty. You need to spend time exploring the country side getting those extra heart containers, the silver sword, the prescription, the blue ring, and whatever else you can find in order to get the game to be a tad easier.

I also felt that the quantity of items given out was enough to do what needed to be done in a dungeon, something I didn't feel playing another Zelda game on this website.

The graphics and the sound are right to par with the original. I know for some that they will prefer the graphics style of the SNES version (Which I'm also found of...) But this game deserves at least some of your time for what it has to offer.

Overall:

This game is great for people who played the original or are fans of this franchise. I don't know how well this game will cater to those in the new gaming generation of crappy Zelda games (like Twilight Princess.) Though I must also say that the game gives enough easy game play at the start to get you used to it (Though you had better expect to die a lot later...) I think based on my playtime with the game and my thoughts about it I am pretty comfortable with giving this game a 4 / 5.

Finally I get around to reading this review! Life's been keeping me busy. Glad that you enjoyed the game.

The One-Shot Wizards were a personal challenge: I've heard folks say that you can't ever put Wizzrobes in a dungeon till level 6 or later. To do so is like some big design faux-pax and means you are terrible and your game is terrible. And I said to myself "CAN SO." So that's what I tried to do. On the other hand, I just really like Wizzrobes. Starting to think its unhealthy.

If I ever get around to making a sequel to this game, I'll do a better job with the difficulty curve and more intuitive design.
(But there will still be wizzrobes. :3)
