Another game to add to the already quite large pool of existing Yume Nikki fangames. In this game, the player takes control over a girl named Umiko as she explores her dreams. Gameplay is simple: You safe at your PC and you enter the dream world by going to bed. Once in the dream world, Umiko can visit numerous surreal worlds, find effects that change her appearance (and give her new abilities) and collect Mementos, which are needed in order to complete the game. While exploring the dream world, the player is encouraged to interpret the different events, locations and NPCs they encounter to uncover Umikos backstory.

I tried to make the game a bit easier to navigate than the average fangame, but there are still huge areas to explore and get lost in. The tone of the game ranges from light and fluffy to dark and creepy but is probably less grim than most fangames overall. All graphics are either heavily edited or drawn by me. Usagi also boasts an original soundtrack composed by myself and my good friend Slank. While the game is certainly cryptic, there IS a coherent back story and a lot of thought went into each character and location in the game.

Actually i had a little problem with the game, when i start it it pop up a message and close the game...
Hmm . . . Even with the RTP installed, I'm getting the following error message upon startup:
Fehler DirectDraw (DDERR_UNSUPPORTED)

before the game shuts off.

I'm going to assume this translates to something along the lines of "DirectDraw Failure", but I don't understand what that means. O~O Anybody got any ideas?
@ExtremeDevelopment:
Glad you enjoyed the game! Man I really need to get here more often, it's pretty cool to see that people still play it.
It's kinda funny how everyone assumes Hamako is a boy, when she's actually supposed to be a girl. It's probably the short hair. :P

I`m glad you`re enjoying the game! Sorry for the late reply, I haven't been at RMN much recently.

To find the lipstick effect, you have to get to the center of the glass maze, which can be a little difficult. If you're still having trouble, I can send you a map of the maze.
Hi! I recently stumbled upon your Yume Nikki fangame, and I'm thrilled to find it very interesting. I would like to request help, since I currently have all of the effects and 13 mementos. I can't find the last one, which is lipstick. Do you mind helping me locate it?
Thanks! I'll make sure to try that out with my next project. :)
Does this trick work with RPG Maker 2000 as well?
Ok, well step one is to open up the rpg_rt.ini file and add the line

FullPackageFlag=0

This is all it takes to tell the game that RTP is not needed. It also means that it won't look for files in program files/rpg2003/whatever. So you need to make sure that any RTP resources are included in the proper folders within the main game folder. If your game uses any.

You'll want to test it out before releasing it to make sure the .ini line is working and that all files are actually in there. Sometimes you'll get a missing system2 or vehicle file because they are easy to forget about. Even though you don't use vehicles in your game, the editor might have it set to RTP and it wants to load it.

If your game uses all custom resources, or even if it does use some RTP, you can do a simple fix so that people don't need the RTP. If you're interested, let me know and I'll teach you. (Some people don't care to do it, so I don't start out by explaining it all anymore heh)

I dunno. I guess there are at least two or three games I plan on making with rm2k and rm2k3 before changing to VX Ace (maybe more) so that might actually be kinda useful. Please enlighten me. :)

For some reason when I try to open the game, this window pops up and says "RTP (Run-Time-Package) nicht installiert!" Help!!?? Can this be fixed?? >_<

Have you installed the RTP for RPG Maker 2003? The game needs the RTP to run. Just google "rm2k3 rtp" and you should find it eventually. :)

I like that the location of the devil effect basically guarantees that you will be caught by the chaser after you try to leave with it. That's... cheeky.
Hello, LunarRabbit.
First, good game. It has an interesting atmosphere,
and is very vast in its contents ^^
Second, can you help me with one thing?
I only achieved the same ending when I play the game...
What I have to do in order to get the second ending?
Well, good luck in your next projects, and thank you for the attention o/

I can't unlock the good ending either and I'm out of ideas'' could you give some instructions, please? Anyway, great game! The "story" is very intriguing~

I send you a PM with instructions on how to get the good ending. Glad that you like the story.;)

Thanks Fedora!:) Yeah, this was done by me with some additional music from Slank.
This is pretty trippy and amazing. Is this all done by two people?
Cool, I'm looking forward to that. Yeah, the maze is a bit annoying. It was much worse originally though.^^
It's pretty good, from what I've seen. Some parts, like the maze, were a bit annoying though. Once I find the second ending, I'll post a review proper. ^_^
