Arcade Hero is an arcade simulator where you are the arcade owner, customer, and game-maker. Arcade Hero is a Community Project where members of the RPG Maker community can submit mini-games to be included in the game as arcade games. Create and play the games you know and love, talk about the latest episode of Alf, and watch Max Headroom from that new station "MTV!".

Players earn quarters as people come in to play your games. Make sure you have the newest hit so you can maximize your profit! You can buy rad stuff with all your quarters like a television for the arcade, new Nintendo and Sega Genesis home video game consoles, and a paint job for your ride.

Soundtrack includes 8-bit covers of popular 80's and 90's music.

Credits (In progress):

- Celianna (Tiles and Arcade machines)
- Lunarea (Contributor - Celianna's Tiles)
- Mack - (Interior walls/Misc - Celianna's Tiles)
- Avadan (Modern Tiles ie. Street, Car)
- dollarcube - Base Model, Street Fighter II Sprites
- springfieldpunx.blogspot.com - Simpsons Style Ken (banner)
- "The Rainmaker" by Paulo R. at Dafont.com - (Banner Font)

This is a cool idea. Will there be a story based around the game, or will it simply be a museum of arcade games?
There's really no plans for a story per se. You start the game as the new owner of an arcade with $500 in quarters. You have to buy arcade games to put in your new business. You can borrow money, talk to customers, play your own games, etc. Think "Wall Street Kid" for Nes. The game is pretty open to the community so If someone does have characters/stories/games/etc. they're free to submit them to be included.

This seems really interesting! What are the details for the mini game submissions?
Sounds interesting.
I can imagine what the arcade mini-games will be like but what about the simulation/management system? How will the "NPCs spend cash" idea be handled and presented?

Mini-games should be arcade-esque. So, it would be strange to have one that uses the default battle system since I can't think of any turn based battle a la DW/DQ/FF at arcade unless you want to put a spin on a classic by making it use that system.

My mini-game, a Street Fighter II parody uses only events and commands like button x being pressed = kick but I'd love to see how creative people can get. I can only imagine what people could do with a Dragon's Lair parody.

The business sim management end of things is something I toyed with in my Dragon Warrior Tactics game. In it, you, a priest, own a temple and people come in asking for save, exp to next level, de-curse, remove poison, etc. In this game, you would post up behind the counter and kids would come in to play the game, bullshit with you, etc.

You'll have a catalog or ancient pc that you can use to view game prices, order cabinets for your arcade, and so forth.

and if you are feeling particularly squirrely, you can try to beat your customers' top scores and replace them with your initials ...

Can I make and summit sprites?

yes but remember to make them fit the "theme".
Every time I load this game page up I get the urge to listen to Buckner & Garcia music on youtube. Already you've done a great job of bringing up all those old arcade memories. I'm excited for this!
How's it going? I certainly hope that contest wasn't for nothing!

How many people actually made a complete game for this?

I mean if there are actually games for this it would just be a matter
of putting them all together (provided they are all in Ace and don't use conflicting scripts.)

Probably got cancelled because not enough people contributed.
