Dragon Glory

RPG Goodness? Check!
Archetypes? Check!
Evil Dragon King? Check!
Thunderbirds, all systems are go!

This is a pretty accurate description of what Dragon Glory is all about. A game harking back to what many would think of as the Glory days of the rpg. But the game isn't just about imitating the classics, It also satirises them beautifully.

Gameplay

Story
You are the son of Bludwulf, the most famous hero in the land. His fight with the evil dragon reign levelled an entire city, said to still burn to this day. Obviously, you have some big shoes to fill, and now with Fanfir the evil dragon lord terrorising the kingdom of Grindsland your perfect chance has come up! Or as Bludwulf puts it...

Boy dad, I do love our father to son talks!
Of course there’s more to it than that, but for fear of spoiling it I shall say no more. Suffice to say the story is well made and extremely enjoyable.
Combat
Combat is well balanced although tends a little towards grinding near the start. Since you can’t recruit anyone till you get a decent level of fame you have to complete the first dungeon with just your character.
After you start being able to recruit though you'll quickly find yourself assembling the most unlikely bunch of heroes you could imagine. From Aristocracy, to a nymphomaniac. From a nun to a pirate. Your party will certainly be anything but boring.

Death to slime!
There’s just one problem though, and I’m unsure if this is avoidable or not. After you get the ocarina flute and talk to the king My main character reset to level 1 and the default name should you not choose to name them near the start, hero. Very, Very irritating this needs looking at if possible.
One more little thing... The merchant in the cave where you get the stones of destiny sells permanent hp buffs... A personal bugbear of mine, true, but still something that I would suggest be removed, or at least the cost increased from 200 per to at least 1000 each.

Presentation

Graphics.
Graphics are mainly default but are used very very well. Not necessarily the eyecandy that you get with some custom graphics jobs but most certainly fit for purpose

Audio
The audio is nice, very nice. The audio defiantly has the classic, retro feel that I think the game has been going for. Tough to suggest anywhere that it could improve in this respect: p

Summary 4/5
Dragons glory is a very good RPG. It was very enjoyable to play, gave me quite a few laughs along the way and I highly recommend a download.

Peticks!!!

Thank you so much for the review! It sent me over the moon when I read it and was like a supernova blast of happy through my soul. I was wondering if this game would just be a shot in the dark. I am overwhelmed that it connected with you (and I'm assuming others as well, we'll call them the silent majority) and the intended laughs paid off. Thanks for making my day and spurring me on to keep working on my next game. It is an honor to know that you so thoroughly enjoyed my endeavor to the by-gone days. Excelsior!

And Excalibur!
