Hooked on Phonics

Everyone is familiar with books in RPGs; you read a book, you learn some stuff. The issue with this can be twofold though; 1. If you're reading a book for a gameplay hint or information, like the solution to a puzzle or directions to a sidequest, or the like, that knowledge ends when your character puts the book back on the shelf. What if you need that info later? 2. If you're reading the book for lore, if you want to refer to it later, you can't, and you have to hope you remembered it when you want to fill in some pieces later.

So I made the option to take books and notes for later.

If you see a book in the field, you can elect to read it as normal. Then you can take it for later viewing.

At any point, you can review that book or note in the Item Menu at a later date.

I especially like this from a lore and worldbuilding perspective, as a developer I can fill in much more lore and worldbuilding without the player feeling bogged down by it. The lore that isn't pertinent in the plot can be discovered by books in addition to NPCs and side quests and whatnot, and the Books can be reviewed later at the players leisure. Just something I wanted to share. Next up is another installment of the Character Gameplay Showcase, so I hope you guys are stoked!
