I'm proud to introduce the first step in the transformation of Chronology: New Facesets, courtesy of JosephSeraph!

Some of you may remember the recent announcement that Chronology of the Last Era is getting a visual upgrade to all original assets, to prepare for a possible (and looking more probable) commercial, more professional release.

I'm glad to announce JosephSeraph's addition to the team and contribution via brand new, original facesets for the characters of the game! I'm super stoked to have someone of his talent gracing my project, and I'm looking forward to everything that's coming next in my project. Check out the first batch!

For reference, this is what I had before; edited facesets from the PSX RPG Maker. Out with the old...

..and in with the new.

And a bonus! The evolution of Callox.

I'm super stoked about this, guys. Much love, and much thanks to JosephSeraph for bringing my dreams to a reality. Check him out and perhaps even support him!

Callox looks so amano now, like a weird fusion of amarant and firion. i'm okay with this
I really like Amano so I'm glad you caught the influence tee-hee! <3
Firion, Terra and Cecil are so iconicccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

I'm excited to be partaking in thissss!!! Will be an awesome journey! Hope my hands can be of use! <3 Let's do the best we can : D <3
Exciting! Loving the new graphics so far.

These are so freaking fantastic! Jo, you never cease to amaze!
Damn, they look really amazing.

Loving this, you did a great job Jo!
I gotta admit, I kinda liked the old ones a bit better, at least for the first two - I dunno, something about the shading or colouring looks better. And second dude looks really weird in the new faces - his mouth is just a block of white. >.<;

Then again, I'm not much of an Amano fan, though I can appreciate his work.

That said, the character design itself is better in the new lot - they definitely look like their own people - I'm just a bit meh about the restricted colours I think. Or the shading. Something. orz
I'm kinda with Libby on this one. Must be the bluish-gray tint of the portraits, making it look a bit desaturated. Plugged into the bluish-gray windows, it sort of blends in.

Just a passing opinion :)
Thanks for the compliments and feedback!
Indeed I myself am not very happy with the palette for now, I used to be a lot better with it haha
But I a keeping this in mind -- the tendency i have to use overly gray, dull skintones, for instance -- for the next portraits to try and develop a coloring style that will work for the game. As the style slowly shifts and gets better while I progress through the game, I"ll reach a point where i'm comfortable going back and retouching the old stuff so it all has the same palette / shading style : D
(this is something we've already talked, so it'll be fun to see the style progressing : ) )
Well, for what it's worth, I like the cold colours.

I agree with Liberty about the dude's smile, though. I think it just needs to broken up with some more shading.

Truly amazing!
Dmitri's smile is REALLY goofy lookin' and the two soldiers look more like foppish bards (with their berets and tousled hair) than they do soldiers. The way the portrait cuts off the top of their heads really makes them look like they're wearing Chun-Li style hair buns. My only nitpick about Callox is that the shading on his jawline is a little bit... I don't know. Something about it bothers me. Just the bit under his ear. It is a real nitpick though!

All of their faces are excellent, though and Callox is especially professional looking. With the exception of Dmitri's giant block of smile, these could easily be artifacts from a PSX classic. It's very cool to see such high quality stuff appearing in a style I love.

I can't wait to see the accompanying sprites!
Thanks y'all ~;u;)~ there's a warm new batch of facesets incoming perhaps sometime soon tee~hee!
the palette has already changed a lot from the first batch to the second so eventually when i come back to it i'll have a better direction to use when color-correcting! ´v`)

thanks for the critique as well, I'm going to assess them when I come back to touch it up! A lot of it was deliberate choices (such as a beret, or a hairstyle keeping in line with the original) but it was valuable critique nonetheless!
