Beastiary Journal Feature

Lakria Legends - Beastiary Journal

This is a little look at the Beastiary Journal for the game.
It will keep track of all the enemies you have encountered
so far in the game.

Among that, it will list some pretty important information about
the enemy. Things like it's attributes, it's weaknesses, it's
loot table, and it's monster type and location.

Things like this will help with battle strategies, and monster/item farming.

Noice! Looking real good!
Nice work man! That must have taken a while to animate. XD
Kool stuff!
But uh .. the descriptions are a lil weird.
There are a couple of typos like "it's" instead of "its" claws etc, and it looks like a couple of sentences were botchered to fit the size. It's a lil difficult to understand what they are supposed to mean sometimes.
Like "It's almost mutant"? What is that supposed to mean for a closure? Are they mutated animals, or are they changing their form? And if they are, why is that the result of their strength?
Or did mutant suddenly become a badass adjective without my noticing?

So, would be neat to have someone look over them me thinks :) Would be too bad to let it be any less than awesome. (I LOVE compendia)

I feel you in a lot of what you're saying. Descriptions could definitely use some work, especially since I kinda just made them on the spot. As for the information given, would you say it's all important? A friend suggested using the standard rm2k3 message box instead of displaying the text on the screen for legibility purposes. As for the grammar aspect, I'll definitely fix that up. Really appreciate the input though!
I know some systems use on page for the stats and gameplay relevant things, and another for the flavor text. So there definitely is room to format it better, but I think it has a better ring to it when it is on the written page. It would imho be perfectly okay to turn the page and then have the same picture with the flavor description. The many text blocks and the small font make it a little difficult to read.
But using a pop-up would be a waste given the animation and idea of reading a book. It would destroy the whole flair you are creating.

There's Soul Sacrifice, for example. Pretty much the whole game is inside a book, and the consistency in its presentation is part of what makes it really atmospheric and laid-back.

And glad you can appreciate it! Makes more sense, I would just try to come up with a few descriptions over time, once you know where they reside (can have some links to why they are in that area), and have fun with it. And if that doesn't work, sit yourself together with a friend and brainstorm.
