Dungeon Ranking System

Lakria Legends Dungeon Ranking System

Just updating the game here a bit and implementing some new things.

This is known as the Dungeon Rank System, in every dungeon of the game, you will be scored among getting and completing various things. These things include how many items in the dungeon you find, how many chests you found and opened, and how fast you completed the dungeon.

Ranks are based as follows:
S Rank - Met all requirements!
A Rank - Missed one requirement
B Rank - Missed two requirements
C Rank - Missed all three

You will be rewarded with various loot, gold and EXP depending on which rank you achieved for the dungeon. Hope this little system will encourage those completionists, those who love exploring, or also just as a nice incentive!

Seems pretty cool!

The only thing I wonder is; how long are these dungeons going to last, in general? XD Will there be an option to retry them, or is it strictly for completionists?

It'd be kinda cool if the Equipment/Items you receive for getting the S rank weren't obtainable any other way, so there's a bit of an extra incentive.

Thanks man, the dungeons vary in time, for example, the first dungeon really takes about 20-25 mins to complete, but I set a base timer of an hour to finish, depending on where your time stands, that's the rank you receive for the Time requirement.

I considered having them replayed again, but I'm not sure if I'm gonna go with that. There are savepoints within the dungeons, I'm just not sure if that's gonna cause people to go back to save states and retry, but for playability, it is a mechanic I wanted to have as you just go through the dungeons. I suppose after the first dungeon, the player will be a lot more aware of those potential challenges in the later dungeons.

Now for the rewards, no matter what Rank you get, you're always gonna get a little bonus EXP and Gold, the amount varies with the rank. The items you receive through ranks change as well, though most items are obtainable through other methods. Now for S Rank, you'll receive some equipment and weapons that you cannot find anywhere else in the game. I also considered, giving one of the main characters their ultimate weapon by achieving the S Rank in the last dungeon.

Edit: May have misread that first question, the availability of the dungeons is throughout the whole game itself. And as you keep progressing through the story, more dungeons become available.
I'm looking forward to playing your game, but I really hate to be pushed for time in RPGs. Is it possible for you, KoopaKush, to change "time/speed" into an optional factor in regards to the dungeon rankings?

It definitely is possible, and it probably could be set as an optional factor for an extra reward of some sort.

The dungeons themselves are pretty huge in detail and layout, so I can see why a player would want the time to explore or perhaps even grind. It seems like this could happen, thank you for the suggestion :)
Thanks for your consideration. Of course, the reward(s) for beating a dungeon within a given time shouldn't comprise something unique, though. If something optional (e. g. a certain piece of equipment) can't be obtained in another way, I - as a completionist who hates "missables" - always feel like "optional" turns to "mandatory".

I know that I'm a "wimp", but I prefer to say something now instead of complaining afterwards. On the other hand, your game looks so promising that I probably will forgive you if you break a few of my absolute nitpicky RPG rules. :)
