Does this thing come with a remote?

Nocnitsa's SIDESHOW: Horrific Oddities is an entry for the 2013 Halloween contest and certainly an interesting entry to say the least.

Story
Nocnitsa preys upon the souls of children, specifically the disobedient ones (next time your mom says tidy your room you better do it). She traps them in a nightmare and feeds on them. That's as far as I got, I didn't manage to complete the game. What I did see showed promise though. When I have more time I'll certainly have another go and try and see the ending.

Graphics
In terms of presentation this game is top notch, from the high quality of the graphics to the old TV styled menu. Have the load game option be a rerun channel was a stroke of genius. Visually you are in for a treat.

Gameplay
Sadly this is where the game falls down, you have to avoid ghost jellyfish things while making your way to a door, if the ghosts catch you it's game over. On later levels you also need to find and flip a switch. The game has a small platforming element where you can jump gaps on the walk way but you need to be careful to stop before the gap as you can walk off the walk ways and then it's also game over. At the very least the game offers us essentially a level select of the levels you've reached. One improvement I would suggest it to speed up the process, if there is a save file perhaps the game could start us on the rerun channel? Also the splash screens would be better if they were not repeated. If you need a bit of scripting help to accomplish this then feel free to ask as I did have some fun with this game and it wouldn't take much to make it better!

Et cetera
Had the gameplay been up to the same standard as the rest of the game then this could have been a winner but sadly, approach player, on event touch game over do not make a great game.

Here's my play through if you are interested:

giaks provided me with saves for the other levels so I could at least try them. They are all difficult and I didn't manage to complete any additional levels that came with story. There are some new mechanics added in the later levels and a new type of level altogether later. One that involves memorising colour patterns, unfortunately I couldn't work out how to advance it correctly as completing the sequence didn't seem to start the next sequence, I would wait a bit enter another one and then get it wrong and then it would progress. So I feel that it needed more instruction about what to do.

Other than that I feel the review is still accurate.
