Worst Grandma ever!

Grandma's house was a contest entry in the 2013 Halloween contest, the game is difficult to play due to horrendous lag during the monster sections.

Story
Very little in game, most of the story can be found on the gamepage. You've inherited your late grandma's house and upon arrival a freak thunder storm knocks out the power. Super natural shenanigans follow. There isn't much else to say, I didn't encounter any more story sections during my play through.

Gameplay
The fear meter is particularly annoying given how quickly it drops, but it didn't seem to do anything and it eventually bugged on me. You have to search everywhere to try and find key items needed to progress. This is just an exercise of click on everything. Eventually you'll come across your first monster and this is when an average game became a subpar one. The monsters use a path finding script which causes awful lag, especially when far away from the monsters. This is mentioned as a feature by the game. I completely disagree, it makes the game virtually unplayable.

Et cetera
Sometimes bugs can become features, this is really not one of those times. I can't recommend that you play Grandma's house as it currently is. With some work though there is hope for the game, I'd recommend removing the path finding if its adverse affects can't be solved or mitigated. Also more hints as to how to deal with the monsters would be appreciated (perhaps on player death).

Here's my play through if you are interested:

Hey I appreciate you reviewing the game!
I know it was pretty bad, and I can't get those pathfinding scripts to work for the life of me...
Not to mention it's the first game I've ever completed :| haha!

I'm currently working on giving it an overhaul, and I'll definitely take in to consideration what you've mentioned here! Thanks so much!

It's also worth mentioning you probably had the sound turned off during your playthrough... there's some voice acting throughout, and also some at the very beginning during the "A game made by Prescott Games" scene ;)

EDIT: Obviously!!! It's the pixel movement!! That's why it lags so much! That may need to be compromised!
Umh I don't know if it'S normal, but after the cat runs into the baseman, I can't move or anything. She just says oh no and the cat runs away but that's it. Menu doesn't work either. Maybe it's just me.

The rest is nice :)
The cat may be hitting one of the enemies, I think I forgot to put it on "Ignore If Can't Move" haha!
It didn't happen on other playtests so this would most likely be the problem.

You should always be able to open the menu... try using the Esc key or Num 0 or X to open the menu. Your keyboard may be configured differently.

Did you try starting over at your last save point? (Not with the option from the load screen, because that's jacked up too. Fixed in the new version releasing soon though).
Hey dude Version 2 is out now, I recommend you play it all the way through and re-review the game :)
