Latest Update: Version 1.5 (January 23, 2021)

One hundred years after the events of Blackmoon Prophecy, the world of Gaia has recovered from the conflict with Emperor Belmont, Malacore, and Zeul which saw a group of adventurers, today known as the Light Warriors, save the world from certain doom.

The rebuilt Lindblum Kingdom stands proudly as the world's fastest growing economical and military force. With the fierce backing of Esperkind behind the kingdom, it appeared that nothing would disrupt the immense prosperity that Lindblum was experiencing until Esperkind suddenly turned against Lindblum. The game follows the adventures of a young Augurer (specially trained anti-Esper monster summoner) named Zephyr Highwind who is forced to abandon his simple lifestyle of looking after Winter, a white chocobo which belonged to his deceased sister Ezra. With new friends aiding him, Zephyr seeks to put an end to the rising hostilities between Lindblum and the Espers, led by Ramuh, before the conflict engulfs the entire globe.

Blackmoon Prophecy II features twelve main characters, five optional characters, and two guest characters. Expected playtime should be in the range of 40+ hours.

Check out Blackmoon Prophecy across the internet for lots of progress updates and screenshots not shown on RMN (in order to prevent spamming the front page/everyone's notices).

Me ALSO likes a lot. Can't wait for this new version to be released!

You and me both! I like feedback! It'll probably be sometime this weekend, since my main tester wants a part of the game I haven't finished yet to be part of what he tests. I need to do some script work for that today (as in dialogue and not RGSS). There's a bit of stuff that happens towards the end of Lenadia, including the portions I have to finish by the weekend, which might blow the roof off part of the story. Been looking forward to writing the post Lenadia. It has a pretty standard Final Fantasy-esque personal revelation of sorts for someone.

I don't think that the game uses RTP. I have the software but I don't know how much that relates to the problem.

The original game doesn't require any aspect of the RTP to run, so I'm not sure what the problem could be. I always hate saying this, but I think it could be user error. Can't say for certain without knowing exactly what you're doing, magna.

I finished your first one loved it, started the latest demo after it and lost 5 hours playing. I am going ahead and lose more soon. You have done great and now you have a dedicated fan

Glad to hear it! Lenadia is, so far, the best part of the game. The gameplay really starts to take off there with tier 2 spells, counter attacks, and several other things coming into play to make battles more interesting. Unlike in the first game, Lenadia is also very, very wordy this time around!

Lenadia is going to be a lot of fun though! Serious strife for one character and a major revelation for another, the return of someone from the first game, encountering some more Espers (and fighting one for a second time, this time putting him down for good), and some pretty fun character conversations and interactions. Also, every character now has their own unique casting animations. Hurray for that and such, too!

This is definitely going to be the meatiest download yet, since it encompasses ALL of Lenadia. As I said to Brandon (my composer) last night, Lenadia should cover about 10 levels (it starts around 16 and should take players to 25-26 if they're not grinding too much) and is probably going to be several hours long.

Definitely aiming for a weekend download. All I have left is a final conversation in one of Lenadia's towns followed by a very small dungeon that ends in some heavy character development. That should all take... two and a half days or so if I work exclusively on the game when I'm home?
I've forced myself to only play what you sent me to test and modify scripts for, months back. If you keep releasing demos, I'm gonna lose my willpower and stop trying to wait for the final version. Keep up the good work, dude!
I downloaded the first one, and when I went to run it to extract all the files, it said file not found. : /

Oh, I didn't intend for there to be another one originally. There's just been so many changes to the way Tankentai works, as well as how the game itself plays (I think I've successfully removed all signs of the old crafting systems) that it feels like a good idea to throw an updated download out into the wild.

Speaking of the scripting and such before, I have a problem! It's something you had a fix for ages ago, but I changed scripts at one point and lost the fix as a result. I'll show you later when I'm home from work.

Are you trying to play by opening the RPG_RT.exe file?
It wouldn't even let me do that. It downloads it through my browser on the bottom of the screen. When it's done, I click on it, and it asks if I want to run it, and then asks me to extract the files. I get none of that. All I got when I clicked on it, was file not found.
Just tried again. All I can find is Blackmoon Prophecy Plus and it downloads as a rar file. When I click on it, it says "application not found".

Sounds like you're running Chrome and that it's download right to the default downloads folder. Do you have a folder/shortcut on your desktop that says "Downloads" on it?

Do you have WinRAR installed? If so, right click it and go to "Extract files" and you'll be golden.

I think I should make an alternate setup file download for the first game for those who would find it easier. If you can't get the game running in the next few hours, I'll gladly make a setup version when I get home from work.
I do not have winRAR installed. Maybe why I'm having trouble.

An alternate version would be great. I work tonight myself so it'd be tomorrow before I could get to it.

No worries then, I'll whip something together later today.
Thank you. I've been watching Blackmoon Prophecy 2 for a while and really wanted to try the first out before playing the second. You just made me very happy :D

If everything goes great, you may have just earned yourself a fan ;)

Thanks for reminding me that it's not out on Wii U. :(

I'll have to grab the PC release of it, I guess.
Ive been keeping up with the updates. I gotta say man, you've got a good knack for adding content to your game. How did the idea for the Reuben character come to you?
UPRC

Well, I wanted to have a Mystic Quest cameo/name appear somewhere, so I decided to settle on Reuben. I went and made an FF6 version of his sprite and then decided he'd be an inventor in the Berona Republic who the player can bring back to Bacchus Garrison. The three things he can built pretty much just fell out of my head like quivering placenta-covered babies moments later. I didn't even really give them much thought, they just sort of clicked.

Reuben won't be in the download next week though, since the Berona Republic won't be in it at all. The download will simply cover up to the end of Lenadia.
Did you whip something up yet? I can't do .rar files. Is there any other way to play it?

Also, you could have a machine for him that does crafting. Like, you can make the ultimate gear by bringing him items and materials. Just a thought.

I meant to, but I got dragged out by a friend as soon as I got off work on Wednesday, and yesterday a nap that was supposed to be an hour long ended up being... well... ten hours long, haha. I don't have any plans today, so I'll get a setup file up and running when I get home in about two and a half hours.

Nah, I already know how and where the best weapons and pieces of armor will be located. Nothing crazy like farming like materials will be involved. Most are obtained via personal quest related content. Not sure if I mentioned those before or not, but all of the main characters will have their own personal quest when the player has free reign over where to go in the world.
Ok. What about an invention that'll warp you anywhere in the world? Maybe even a secret dungeon that can only be reached by this machine?
