Latest Update: Version 1.5 (January 23, 2021)

One hundred years after the events of Blackmoon Prophecy, the world of Gaia has recovered from the conflict with Emperor Belmont, Malacore, and Zeul which saw a group of adventurers, today known as the Light Warriors, save the world from certain doom.

The rebuilt Lindblum Kingdom stands proudly as the world's fastest growing economical and military force. With the fierce backing of Esperkind behind the kingdom, it appeared that nothing would disrupt the immense prosperity that Lindblum was experiencing until Esperkind suddenly turned against Lindblum. The game follows the adventures of a young Augurer (specially trained anti-Esper monster summoner) named Zephyr Highwind who is forced to abandon his simple lifestyle of looking after Winter, a white chocobo which belonged to his deceased sister Ezra. With new friends aiding him, Zephyr seeks to put an end to the rising hostilities between Lindblum and the Espers, led by Ramuh, before the conflict engulfs the entire globe.

Blackmoon Prophecy II features twelve main characters, five optional characters, and two guest characters. Expected playtime should be in the range of 40+ hours.

Check out Blackmoon Prophecy across the internet for lots of progress updates and screenshots not shown on RMN (in order to prevent spamming the front page/everyone's notices).

Anyone know where I can find some redwood?

Saplings on the world map will drop redwood, but it's a fairly uncommon drop. Best place to look for them would be in the large forest north of Mohadmal Desert. There are a few other forests as well that have them, but I forget which ones they are off the top of my head.

Every time I go to the Hummingway's Abode, I get a black screen. The music still plays, I'm able to access the menu and actually move the cursor, but the screen stays black. Even after I leave the place, the screen stays black. If I hit F12 or use the Return to Title options in settings, the screen remains black. The only way out of it is to shutdown the game. Is there a bug fix on the way?

Edit: BTW, I'm playing on the latest version of the game.

In addition, ever since downloading the latest version and coming to Balmag Subterrane, there is a 10 second delay after winning each battle. The screen freezes and the battle music plays for an extra 10 secs before the victory pose and theme plays.
I have been having a blast with this. I'm just about to return to the Village of Zen and up to now everything has been loads of fun.

enormous rant about skills which wound up going for much longer than i predicted:

One weird thing, though, that I find quite aggravating, is how spells scale terribly bad. They all deal flat damage + 2.5*mag... which means that magic is relevant, at most, in the very beginning of the game, and the further you go the less useful it becomes (as a stat)

I opened the game up on the editor and looked at the magic formulas -- Level 3 black magic deals ~6000 + (magic * 2.5) damage... which means that, at 300 magic, you're going to contribute 750 points of damage to the spell, or about a 10 or so percent increase. Every weapon that increases magic, therefore, is useless, and any non magical character equipped with a Level 3 black magic spell will deal very high damage regardless of stats -- or of flat enemy defense, for that matter, as every point of spirit seems to contribute to only 1 point of reduced damage.

I've been exploiting this by givinb Bolt the very first Fire 2 tome, and bolstering his Speed -- not magic -- through equipment, so he can get 3 times more turns than a mage character ever could and deal like, 200 less damage every cast. With ethers being quite cheap, this is really strong, bt also makes the mages feel useless save for utility

Anyway it's a minor nitpick that reeeeeeeally messes with the balance of the game imo. Every Magic Shard contributes to... 2.5 damage on a Fire 3 (or a Fire 1)

It seems like the same applies to every other skillset attack, actually -- Good flat damage + very, very poor stat scaling...

Onto more gameplay feedback, I'd also like to be able to see when I manage to increase or reduce a stat, as there is no indicator saying i sucessfully reduced enemy defense, for the matter. Not that reducing defense matters all that much since even endgame enemies have on average 200 defense/spirit, which when halved mean about a 100 damage increase vs most abilities, and a 200 damage increase against physical attacks. actually it kinda feels like you just hit the "quick formula" button and went with easy to balance flat numbers instead of thinking of the formulae... which is fine, it doesn't directly hinder my enjoyment of the game, but it means I will have to forgo several mechanics -- be it stat manipulation, stat shards, proper equipping, to focus solely on secondary equipment effects, elements and Speed, when the characters' skillsets clearly seem to favour otherwise (such as having the distinction between mage characters and non-mage but in practice having both doing equally well with magic)

anyway thats it
im enjoying it a lot, i'll keep playing and i'll take notes of such things so as to think of how i would avoid them
Thanks for making this Y`v´)Y

edit: On the boss of the Forest of Zen, it really soudns like we must withstand and defend (like Dark Cecil on ff4) instead of attacking. I defended for like 34095230495 turns but then i opened the project up and nopey dopey, we gotta beat it! I"d change the text a bit on that end
By the way I love Sapphire's development so far~

edit:
I was forced to fight tritoch without my 2 strongest characters, Carina (who has been getting all the skill shards and has very very high magic which is actually kinda very useless) and bolt (who is quick and full of utility plus very well equipped) but i get the feeling it was intentional so we wouldn't be able to Libra/Peep it, since its an unwinnable battle hmm

edit:
insofar the underground berona laboratory is my favourite environment, visually
edit:....i wonder if the blue/green/red shrubs are a reference to resident evil

edit: AHA. I was not expecting that.
EDIT: THAT TRIGGER CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, GOOSEBUMPS

edit:

euheuhuhruhehejhjrhjehuyrh nope
also, they were underground but somehow they manage to exit the laboratory straight into the upper part of the city, i inda expected some long stairs with (perhaps treasure filled? ohoh) small floors in between or something

edit:
sleep girl, for now you will be reunited with your loved ones

tbh i wasnt expecting to get attached to the characters but about 5h into the game i realized i would and grrrrrrrrr
Where do you get star dust? (after you give the guy the Varanadon horn)? Also, what do you do with the Desert Lotus? It costs 20 Rosetta stones, so I thought it would be good!

I was told to go to the Balmag Subterrane. However, nothing happens when I get there. Is there something in particular that I have to do or am I missing something?
Put Vera in your party as point and examine the blue thing.

Thanks for the tip.

Hi, just started playing through this a few days ago! So far, game is pretty fun! I have just received the Diving Gear and found Godot in Lindblum. He asked me take some key to "Altair" and I don't know where that is?

Any help would be appreciated!

EDIT: Nevermind! I forgot that random town I visited near Kaipo was called Altair!

So I'm nearing the end now, final dungeon but backtracking to do some optional stuff. Few questions about that (and a bug I found):

First, the bug. I entered Barrington in the third world map. When I left it teleported me to the first world map sans airship, so if you save inside the town you're screwed.

Secondly, where is Lysha? Where is Kappa? What else am I missing? I already have Carina and I attempted Ozma and got my ass handed to me. What else am I missing? I haven't finished the Necropolis yet (but I'm playing Duder's file and I'm not sure if he did it already). Also, whatever happened to Edric's sister?

Edric's Sister is in a new house northeast'ish of Barrington next to a big lake that appeared. She has a cutscene and a gift if you visit.

Lysha is in the MistWalker outpost and in the Fahlud castle (seems like a bug). After talking to her in both locations she will join the team.

Kappa is in the necropolis, but you may have to clear it and the boss, then leave and come back for him to appear (he wasn't there on my first clear, but was after returning later).

Also, for my own question, do you know if Kappa had a pre-quest before wanting to go to Mysidia Archives @Varn? I brought Kappa to the archives, put him in the party lead, and tried to interact with every single inch of the area but he never interacted with anything.

Another sidenote, now that ribbons are fixed I tried to fight Necron again. When getting him to about 70k life remaining he used an attack called Oblivion which dealt around 8,000 damage to my entire level 60'ish team (which had about 6500 hp each), which instantly killed everyone even with shell and protect active. Maybe I was too low level, but I'll be honest, I don't feel like grinding an extra 10-20 levels just to beat the final boss since that attack felt kind of over-tuned. Just my opinion of course.

Where exactly is Kappa? I beat the boss the first time I was in the underworld, and went back at the 3rd world map, but can't find him. Also, I talked to Lysha in the castle, and now she is in my airship. She is not in the Mistwalker's house. She did find me some nice items though.

Varn,

Carina is still supposed to be able to heal! She can on my test save, but I just found that she doesn't have her healing abilities in her list of spells by default, and I'm not sure what's going on with that. I'll have to make sure this is fixed in the next update. In the meantime, you can take the following two map files. Activating either the save point just before fighting Garland or talking to Carina on the airship will make sure that she has these abilities.

My final party was:
1. Summoner:
Vera

2. Melee#1: Sapphire
3. Melee#2: Jazmine
4. Healer:
Carina

Reasons:
1. You really want someone to be able to use all those nifty summons you find. Zephyr's just about as good at it, but I liked this character better for higher magic stats and speed.
2. Speed is simply far and away the best stat in the game; and Sapphire has it. Moreover, I was able to make her dual-wield and wear a genji glove; by endgame this was four 9000+ damage attacks, with 3 turns for every 2 of most other characters. Plus, you may notice that I didn't really have a dedicated wizard; her ninja scrolls seem to scale off weapon damage, and would hit, for free, about 60% as hard as Neo-Bahamut (and come up far more often). Or *harder* than him if they targeted a weakness. Queue the final grinding area being filled with enemy formations all weak to the same element...
3. I opted against a second wizard, and wanted another fighter. Jazmine was undoubtedly my weakest character; the one I would swap out for Bolt whenever I thought something might need stealing. If I'd found another dual-wield materia I'd unquestionably have used someone else - Bolt full-time, or maybe Silas, Kappa, or Zephyr to make use of the Atma Weapon.
4. The healer slot - for much of the mid-game, it was Izulde.
I'd been planning to use Carina again here once I got her back; little did I know that she doesn't come back as a healer. D'oh! But with X-Mastery, she gets X-Cure3 and X-Flare, making her a really good mage and healer anyway; I wound up barely using her shadow skills. I probably should have stuck with Izulde, or tried out, say, Lysha in this role instead. Or used both Vera and Zephyr, with Vera mostly stuck on healing duty. But I mean, after going through all that, how could I not use her?

Others to seriously consider: Bolt (even faster than Sapphire, have to use him to steal sometimes anyway); Zephyr (almost as good a summoner, swords are awesome); Silas and Kappa (swords, again, are awesome). Hautley is too dang slow, and magic tends to lose steam as the game goes on (he might make an okay healer though!); Trigger always seemed sort of okay (but his attack animation taking forever really turned me off); Izulde is a good healer, but I went more exotic; Lysha seemed good in theory, but I didn't actually find her until the last dungeon, so she was way underlevelled and I ignored her.
I see no reason to ever use Reiner, Edric, Loxley, or Twill when you can help it.
Anyone have ideas about best team to play through out the game once all are available ??

Will be trying to throw an update together in the next few days.

Going to quash the belief that there could be another Blackmoon Prophecy though, this is the end. I want to finish an original game for once, so I've gone back to work on Shattered Wings (the game I cancelled to focus on this Blackmoon Prophecy II).

I can respect that. Honestly, don't misunderstand - I love and appreciate the hard work and constant dedication to FFBP1+2 but...I'm stoked to see what sort of original narrative you develop.

I think I'm going to write a review. I have enough playtime (50 hours) to do so. Still at the final boss though.
Wow, I think you should have that bug that instantly kills you in odin' thing attack you over 100 times so that you can waste your time and get a game over all the time in Odin's place! Realistically, having 100% chance at death is ridiculous when he can attack your party 2-3 times with an extremely high speed. His speed must be over 1000 since it seems that the bug will attack probably 3 times before my paladin ATB fills....
Oh. Right. I hadn't used any stat-boosting shards the whole game, waiting to see which 4 characters I wanted to take to the endgame. Kappa was my last to find, but I focused on the quest before feeding him any (and eventually decided against him, anyway); so I had plenty of those shards to go around.
It's - probably not a great thing to require for his quest, since they really could all be used up before you even find him.
For how this game ended it feels like it opens to another sequel. I really can see another open final fantasy in space.

for fighting necron, I'm using carbuncle and spamming limit break multiple times (using unlimiter). Using sprint shoes may also help you.
