Good to hear! The white screen at the start has also been turned black. Hoping that it's a little more evident now that the game's tone is (eventually) darker than in the first game.
The floating orb things look really cool :)

They're supposed to be red. I don't know what's going on there, lol. Will have to look at that script.
The multicolor ones look really cool though so don't stress about it too hard. ;)
I dunno, I kinda like the original title screen a lot more than this new one you got here now. I mean, the original title screen (this one) looked absolutely fantastic and not only did it have the proper windowskin to go along with it as well but it also had the same matching logo and font patterns of what you would usually see in a Final Fantasy game that made it look absolutely professional upon viewing it, but the music that also accompanied with it as well was great, and it totally set you up quite nicely for the tone of the adventure ahead. This one, however, well…it kind of feels like I’m playing something completely different due to everything that’s going on with it, especially with the music (no offence to the composer behind the track), because when I hear a track like that in action it doesn’t scream to me that I’m playing a Final Fantasy fangame whilst listening to it, it sounds more like something that I would probably hear in a horror / suspense game more than anything.

But I guess if there’s one thing that I like about this new title screen over the old one is probably that finger icon and how it animates and scrolls up and down along with the cursor. It looks neat. That I like.

That title screen you linked hasn't even been in use for a few years now, haha. There have been a few changes this then, and I've been using this title screen layout for at least two years now, only it was white instead of black before. The save/load screen matches it as well (heavy on blacks and reds), and it's all like this to match the tone. Once the player reaches the Berona Republic, pretty much every plot development is depressing to some degree.

It's okay that you're not a fan though, you can't please everyone after all! So far the response has been pretty positive overall (RMN, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), so I won't change the look at all for now. I "might" change the music though, since it's also used in-game somewhere so it would at least still be heard by the player at some point. The look and feel are both final, but the music could change. We'll see.
I'm going to have to agree with Addit on this one. I've seen the floaty orbs thing on many title screens (it's a script), usually not in colours, but still, nothing new there. Sometimes simpler is best. The one he linked was interesting to look at - it was dark, the music was sombre and the feel of it was "You're about to jump into a FF Fangame, and don't expect rainbows and lolipops". It was a lot more serious in tone than "floaty lights wooooo~".

I'm also not a huge fan of the layout and colours used. The red is a bit overdone, especially with the red balls flying around in addition to the splash background. The logo doesn't stand out as much, either, despite it being the only thing on the screen. IDK, it's definitely no match for the other one in terms of visuals, atmosphere and clarity. Sorry! >.<;

If everything else is final, could you at least do something about the font of the Start, Load and Exit options? To be frank, they look terrible. The lettering looks sharp and misshapen instead of smooth and consistent like the font you used before.

Well, glad to know that I’m not the only one here who doesn’t like the new look. Yay for indifference! :D

But, yeah, you’re right, UPRC; you can’t please everybody in the world. If you think the new title page looks great and fits in with what’s going on with the underlying theme and stuff and everyone else here besides Liberty and I seem to like it, then all the power to you. Besides, it’s just a title screen. You end up staring at it for sixteen seconds anyway before hitting the new game / continue option, so it really isn’t a big deal to get all worked up over, as I’m still gonna play it regardless of what you do because I enjoyed the first game so much.

@ Corfaisus - Isn’t the font more along the lines of what they used in something like Final Fantasy 8?

Either way, I think it looks fine just the way it is.
Perhaps a compromise would be keep it but remove the orbs? I mean trying to see it without, it'd be pretty awesome as well. It would have more of a Final Fantasy look being a still title screen without the floating orbs, sorta. /shrug

Either way, it's up to you ultimately. I'll also play it either way, it's just a title screen. xD

I actually had this look for 2-3 years, only white instead of black! The particles were supposed to be red, I think what makes them look extra tacky is that somehow the script decided to make them random colours (so it was completely accidental anyway and I didn't decide to try changing it when I posted this, just decided to see how it would be interpreted). I was fiddling around and got rid of the image for the particles just to see how it looked and, for the time being, I do like it more without them floating around. They meshed well with the title screen when it was all white (as were the particles), but maybe not it was just a little jarring. The title image with the red Ramuh is not being changed though, nor is the new/load game/etc. text at the bottom unless there's an outcry to do so.

It is, yeah. Assembled from very clean rips.
