Thus, it has come to pass that the final version of this game is up. I fully intend to upload a separate, stand-alone version of the game later on, but I will hold off on that for a bit.

You know, in case that there's any weirdness that might still be in this game. I don't THINK any such weirdness exists, but, well, you know.

I must admit that the final sequence has me a BIT worried, but I don't want to say much more about it at this juncture.

Darigaaz, did this game seem to go all over the place! Or is it just me?

It's probably just me. However, there is just one more thing I need to do before I can truly put this to rest.

This game is...

COMPLETE!

Whoa. I didn't think that would actually, you know, WORK!

Ms. Pennyworth! Cancel all my appointments for the next three days! Okiku is finally complete! I don't care That Mr. Johnson is having a heart attack. I've got more important things to worry about!

Right on the day I have like 1 million chores? Hmph. I shall play, when I have time to do so~

Edit: Right, no more chores now, 'tis time to download! And play of course.
is it just me or did you get this done really quickly Marrend

Congrats! :D

I'll play it all the way through, though my weekend is crazy so it won't be right away. My apologies, especially since you've been such a help with Wyrm Warriors.

Got some time for the first time this weekend and played and beat the game ^_^
I'll leave my thoughts below (story-spoilers, so beware if you haven't played it yet):

That was a lot of fun! You set up a very good system for a one-character party, and the evolving skills and boss-battles were entertaining. The stages were simple but well-executed. I fully leveled-up all my spells but the Mana Leak and Silence ones.

I feel the story was a little lacking, though. I mean, it's mostly an excuse to have Okiku run around and battle monsters and be awesome. But when it turns out that Ryoko doesn't even really know what she's summoning or why, and after you summon and fight it, she just leaves saying she needs to rest and the game's over. Perhaps that's just how Ryoko is, and its just another day in the life of Okiku, but I guess I was expecting more.

But all in all, very fun and very well done!

In response to your response, I respond! With hide-tag tech!

I seriously considered telling this story about how Ryoko's master attempted the the Rite of Summoning, but went senile in the process (Which may sound familiar to those who have played Arbiters From Another World.), and that performing it was a rite of ascension for her.

However, it seemed a bit on the blatty side? I dunno. I kinda want to re-vamp the town interiors anyway, so, hell, maybe this can come in when I do that?

*Edit:
The thing I was most worried about was...

...Ryoko's skill-set. I mean, Grand Barrier and Never Die are a pretty damn broken combination. A combination I thought I had reserved for Masako, if players could get her, in Konae's Investigations. Also, Ryoko's skills are not sealed with Silence effects, which makes the fight more one-sided than it appears on the surface.

More hide-tag fun!

It wasn't that I was expecting a really complicated or grand reason, I just expected a reason to be there, since we've been spending all game collecting the ingredients for this ritual, I figured it had some purpose. So yeah, that could definitely work.

I'll be honest, I didn't find the last fight particularly difficult. But that didn't detract from the experience for me, honestly.

Well, I have some the things I mentioned a post ago in-game, though, I have it in the back of my mind to allow players to skip a good part of the ending sequence. Ultimately, this means I will eventually have to upload this again at some point. The things I'm questioning most are the map re-vamps I'm doing. Like, I tossed in some possibly appropriate tiles, but then, I started to wonder if this is what I should be doing.

I may want to look at how I did inns and general stores in previous games. The inns seem to be the most questionable in my mind, so I'll definitely have to look into that.

And here I was, thinking the revisions would be quick.

Ah, well.

Game updated!

The basic core of the game remains pretty much in-tact. All I changed where the maps to the inns and general stores of the world...

...thanks to Arbiters From Another World for the map references...

...a few changes to the lines at the end of the game, and allowed a good part of the final sequence to be skipped for both testing purposes, and for veteran players waaaaaay the hell down the road.

Happy gaming, players! I hope you have as much fun playing it as I did making it!

Played it. Beat it. Loved it.

Unity pretty much covered all the points I wanted to make. I just wanted to point out that while story is usually the first thing I jump on in game feedback, I didn't really feel like the story of Okiku got in the way here. Sure, the last fight was abrupt, unsatisfying and ended the game on a rather sour note. But while every part of my brain was like, "The story is lackluster and boring! You should hate it!" I just... couldn't. Probably because it wasn't trying to be epic. So I didn't take it too seriously. And that's fine.

... And then I proceeded to blast that doubting part of my brain with the Wand of Blasting. Seriously, that had to be my favorite part of the game.

Question: When you have the choice of donating to the church box or stealing from it, what changes? I didn't really notice a difference. I thought it would have done something special for the final boss, since Ryoko did say that Okiku's actions may have had something to do with what monster is summoned. But it didn't. And that made me rather sad.

Anyways, congrats on the game! I may play it a couple of times. Give myself some challenges, like play at a level cap of 20.

Strangely, enough, the final boss was going to be a Succubus, but I was like, "Naaaaaah!" So, maybe the choice at the shrine could affect that, in some way?

The stats may differ a bit (Succubus would have higher stats?) but, I'm not really seeing how the AI would differ all that much. Outside of the Succubus being able to Poison on top of all the other things? I dunno.
