Karuna and Aurelie were friends. Then Aurelie went off and found the infernal armor of Ellicide and became the Evil Overlord Darkloft. Karuna is the only one who can stop her. But Karuna loves Aurelie, even now.

Luxaren Allure is a medium-sized RPG (12-20 hours) that follows Karuna and her allies as they explore the isles of Luxaren and confront a former friend who now wants nothing but destruction. This is a wlw (women who love women, lesbian romance, yuri, etc) game with an all female playable cast.

Also included are:

  • Title Screen Art, Face Portraits and Illustrations by M-3-1 (http://m-3-1.deviantart.com/)
  • Side View CTB Battles, with animated heroes and (semi)animated enemies!
  • New tilesets and battlers, made just for this game!
  • No random encounters. All enemies are visible on screen, and each triggers a different enemy party.
  • No RTP needed! Most resources are custom, and everything's included with the download.
  • A simple crafting system.
  • A short, character driven story that plays with the standard RPG formula.

Characters:

Karuna has been training with the School of the Unwavering Blade for years, and is considered the best choice for defeating the evil of Darkloft. She's serious, strong-headed, and confident, but her reasons for choosing to be a hero might not exactly be selfless...

Chisa is Karuna's self-proclaimed squire. She's timid but very strong, if a little naive. Her loyalty to Karuna is unquestionable.

A mage from the Naga clan, and one of the few of her kind that does not view humans with suspicion. Carefree and laid-back, she quickly finds herself fascinated with Karuna's quest and even more fascinated with Karuna's squire.

The great-granddaughter of the paladin hero Estes, Lynette is a well-balanced warrior from Rezael who has trained for years to master both the physical and magical arts to make up for the fact that she didn't inherit her family's holy magic powers.

Now known as Overlord Darkloft, the evil one who has placed the isles of Luxaren in dire peril. Karuna has so many questions for her. What will happen when they finally meet again?

Scripts used:
  • Yanfly's Ace Core Engine, Message, Menu, Equipment and Battle systems!
  • Kread-EX's Animated Battlers!
  • Fomar0153's Compatible Customisable ATB/Stamina Based Battle System!
  • Coelocanth's Item Crafting system!
  • NeonBlack's No AutoShadows

And a special thanks to Red Nova, LockeZ, Crystalgate, Archeia_Nessiah, GreatRedSpirit, and everyone else in the Rpgmaker.net forums for their fantastic suggestions, advice, and general help!

As for the difficulty, no worries about playing on Easy/Normal. The game veers on the challenging side, and that's what the difficulties are there for; to get an experience that feels fun and right. :DDDDD

Hey, that was another of the game's great features, actually! The "difficulty mode" setting is something that I haven't seen in too many RMN games, and it was well suited to a game like this: those who are playing mainly for the story and exploration (like yours truly ^_^) can use the easier modes, while those who enjoy tough battles can use the harder ones.

Hope the Tidal Zones aren't giving you too much trouble; I think they're my biggest regret, as they've caused a lot of frustration in some players ^^;;

What's life without a little challenge? ^_^ Besides, I guess they must have been fun or challenging to code in the first place. In an alternate dimension my reckless youth, I once fell prey to the same syndrome while writing a text game: I stuck in a series of puzzles that were a challenge to work out and seemed like a good idea, but those who played the game felt they were a bit of a momentum-killer. Balance is always a tricky thing. =)

Thanks again, and a huge thank-you for contributing to my Patreon as well! I really, really appreciate it!!! ^_^

No, thank you for creating a great game! (I'm also playing Chase for Divinity, and I like what I've seen of that so far too.. ^_^) Doing a little (extremely amateurish) game development has made me all too conscious of how resource- and time-intensive it can be, and I figured my two cents might help a bit. =)

Now to go back and finish the game! ^_^
I am a few hours in and am absolutely LOVING this game.

Really like the graphics, the music is super catchy, has some good humor, and the battles seem to be just the right difficulty(Playing on Hard). I also really like the battle system. Locking down enemies before they use their strongest techniques and the combination of magic and impulse skills add a lot of strategy to the battles. I am definitely gonna wind up posting a review for this game once I finish it.

Is the music custom made? I absolutely love most of the tracks.

Btw...the sound effect that plays at the end of the battle makes me smile everytime I hear it. It was a nice touch. :-)
although im a little turned away due to the fact that it sounds like yuri is put in as a selling point i will still try it out because first i dont have a problem with it and second im hoping there this is a challenging game

Well, it's a selling point if you like lady romance? vOv
it doesn't effect the game play or the story so could care less all it does is effect the fan art btw im talking the sooz i dont know how to reply to stuff yet im very new

Thank you so much! ^____^ I'm no good at music, so the music's not custom. It's all from various artists from Jamendo, with Monster Cyborg being the most used.

I think that the lesbian romance does, indeed, affect the story, but I'm hoping you'll find the game challenging and enjoyable regardless of that ^____^

Darigaaz, I need to get back into playing this. I think I might be at the second wave of tidal caves (pun absolutely intended), though.

At least I'm not bothered by it. I find it to be pretty hot, as a matter of fact!

Good luck! Feel free to use the page with hints, since that area can be frustrating ^^;

I eventually started planning my moves through the maps in the editor, actually. Still, that dungeon took a lot out of me. I dunno if it's just me, or if there's something that I'm missing, but I've been noticing that the encounters are becoming a slog/drag? I'm not sure when, exactly, I noticed that trend, mostly because I picked this up after a two-month (I think?) hiatus, but, I can definitely feel it.

I'll still play this, though, to the end. I highly expect to set the difficulty to "Easy" rather than the "Normal" that I've been doing thus far.

*Edit: *gives unity a Preemptive Hug Attack!*

Thanks for the hug attack! ^_^

I think the Watery Depths are possibly my greatest failing in the game, given how much annoyance they've caused. It's a good lesson for me, in both managing encounters and making areas with annoying mechanics. I'm not sure if adding even more seconds to the timers is called for (I somewhat recently increased them)

You're not alone. The battles do feel like a chore, especially mid-game. Except for the end-game battles, that is, thanks to the awesome powerful end-game skills. Would have been a lot better if the whole game is like the end-game (except the beginning, of course).

And Unity, I don't think there's a need to add even more seconds. Frankly speaking, the original Watery Depths isn't that hard per se. It's really just a matter of memorizing the routes and such. Good for training the brain :p
Wow!!

I am now 16 hours in and I have to say that this game is amazing!! Varied bosses, great characters, unique battle skills with a great battle system, great custom art(which has grown on me more and more while playing), fun puzzle sections(really like the tidal wave dungeons and the love labyrinth), I love the relationship between Merel and Chisa. Great Job!!

You can feel that you really took time to meticulously balance the game. Just enough alchemy items to make some, but not all of the alchemy items towards the beginning of the game. Combat is always challenging, but never unfair(been playing on hard) and the balance of impulse and magic skills let you do so many different strategies.

The only minor complaint I might have would be that maybe the mountain path on the way to Hotenshin may have dragged on a little to long, But, honestly, I love the combat so much it didn't even bother me.

I also had a couple glitches. Once, I tried to escape a battle multiple times and for some reason after the 4th or so time the enemies endlessly bashed me for about 6 turns straight until I died before my characters could go.

The other glitch was, if you make it into the exit at the tidal wave sections when the timer hits 0, the counter doesn't reset and you get hit by a tidal wave as soon as you exit.

I am still somewhat new to the site and have only played about 20 or so games. But, so far, this is my personal favorite. Gonna try and finish this one up tomorrow and write up the review in the next day or two.

Thanks very much! ^_____^ I'm glad you're enjoying it! I'll look into those glitches. The battle system's combination of ChargeTimeBattle and animated battlers can make things a little wonky sometimes ^^;;
…You know what - f**k it! I’m going to give in to the hype finally after all these months and give this “strangely exotic game” of yours, unity, the old Addit tries!

I was mulling it over the other day about what new game I should review to ring in the new year and this one always seemed to pop up as one of the many different possible options to do...what with its recent success at the Misaos and all. I mean, I’d be lying if one of the reasons why I haven’t considered reviewing this game yet is because of its sheer length (12 - 20 hours!? F**k), because I don’t get a lot of time to play a lot of massively lengthy games with my schedule lately, and, of course, the yuri themes… *cough* *cough* *LESBIANS!!!* But I think it’s something that I should personally just give it a try, you know...to broaden one’s own horizons??? Plus I haven’t played or reviewed any of your games before – so no time like the present, I guess.

Expect a review up whenever I can. In the meantime, just think happy thoughts. :)

OMG, that would be a massive honor! Thanks so much, Addit! I hope you enjoy it! :DDDD

And yeah, in the future, I'll probably be making shorter games, because just one of this length really was a huge investment in time and effort ^^;;
…And yet here I am working on an hour long game and it’s probably taken as long as it did to complete this, which is 10x longer.

Sometimes I just don’t know what’s right anymore…
