Karuna and Aurelie were friends. Then Aurelie went off and found the infernal armor of Ellicide and became the Evil Overlord Darkloft. Karuna is the only one who can stop her. But Karuna loves Aurelie, even now.

Luxaren Allure is a medium-sized RPG (12-20 hours) that follows Karuna and her allies as they explore the isles of Luxaren and confront a former friend who now wants nothing but destruction. This is a wlw (women who love women, lesbian romance, yuri, etc) game with an all female playable cast.

Also included are:

  • Title Screen Art, Face Portraits and Illustrations by M-3-1 (http://m-3-1.deviantart.com/)
  • Side View CTB Battles, with animated heroes and (semi)animated enemies!
  • New tilesets and battlers, made just for this game!
  • No random encounters. All enemies are visible on screen, and each triggers a different enemy party.
  • No RTP needed! Most resources are custom, and everything's included with the download.
  • A simple crafting system.
  • A short, character driven story that plays with the standard RPG formula.


Characters:


Karuna has been training with the School of the Unwavering Blade for years, and is considered the best choice for defeating the evil of Darkloft. She's serious, strong-headed, and confident, but her reasons for choosing to be a hero might not exactly be selfless...


Chisa is Karuna's self-proclaimed squire. She's timid but very strong, if a little naive. Her loyalty to Karuna is unquestionable.


A mage from the Naga clan, and one of the few of her kind that does not view humans with suspicion. Carefree and laid-back, she quickly finds herself fascinated with Karuna's quest and even more fascinated with Karuna's squire.


The great-granddaughter of the paladin hero Estes, Lynette is a well-balanced warrior from Rezael who has trained for years to master both the physical and magical arts to make up for the fact that she didn't inherit her family's holy magic powers.


Now known as Overlord Darkloft, the evil one who has placed the isles of Luxaren in dire peril. Karuna has so many questions for her. What will happen when they finally meet again?

Alright, I've added that script to the project and uploaded it. Click the Download Now button and you should now get "Luxaren Allure 2018.zip". Unzip it and move your save files from the old one to that folder, and you should be able to continue from there.

If there are still issues, please let me know. Worst case scenario, I can send you an altered version that skips to the final fight in that series of three battles, or bypasses it completely if we have to.

These crashes are in fact a known issue that I haven't been able to fix. As best I can pin down, they seem to be related to the Animated Battlers script I used, but they, for me at least, usually spring up at Singing Winds Pass. If this latest script fixes them, I'll be really happy because I feel like I've tried everything else XD
You, mate are fuckin' A material!!! i've been testing the updated version with the new script for the past two hours in a number of different areas some of which the game would crush on every second encounter upon launching and am more than just glad to report that the game has NOT crushed once! To think that you responded within just a couple of hours and not only that, but you actually fixed the problem right then and there... You deserve a statue to say the least!

Also, a huge thanks to you, since you brought the script to my attention that fixed the problem! ^_^ If you have any other crashes or issues, please feel free to let me know and I'll see what I can do!
I just finished the game, took me 20 hours or so.
I played it on Hardcore Difficulty until the first encounter with Darkloft (3man where Karuna is stuck charging) then I switched to casual since I wanted to rush ahead and I was worried I had actually missed something.

First of all, I want to thank you for the free hours of enjoyment you have given me.
Second, I want to say that, for the most part, the game's balance and gameplay is truly well done (with few exceptions here and there like the Chisa solo in her dream or Darkloft with Karuna doing nothing) so I must commend you on that.
I wasn't expecting much when I started this game, but the gameplay and the fact that all characters are all diverse and useful and well balanced really kept me sucked in, so well done!

Now the parts where I nitpick:

1) I didn't like the fact that Karuna's final weapon is a missable item (if you don't collect all the shards of hope, I didn't miss it, I got them all), but in the end it doesn't really make that much of a difference I suppose.

2) The game crashed for me after a while when I accessed the save menu. I save often, this seems to be a sort of "memory leak" problem. Probably nothing you can do about, but after 1 hour or so of gameplay, accessing the save screen made my game crash. Another crash occurred when I hit with Nebula Siege (Chisa Impulse) a Force Ghost (those absorb physical damage), I got a message that a "class" was missing, presumably because the engine did not know how to handle "negative" absorb events.

Sorry about the crashes. They've been plaguing the game for a long time, possibly due to the sideview animated battlers, but I'm not sure. I found a script that eliminated some of them, but it still really annoying when they happen.

And yeah, I probably won't do a final weapon like that again. Glad you enjoyed the game ^_^

I must say... I am enjoying this so far. I am IN LOVE with the custom artwork. Did you do that yourself? If so... wow. Or, whoever did it... wow :-)

The music is amazing. When I entered the first cave I was like... whoa! Did I just walk into a RAVE?! And the item system feels very rewarding. I love how you get loot after every battle. That's something I need to learn to do better.

And that first boss battle was a blast. I really enjoyed it. I had to think about what spells and impulse skills to use. Love the Lockdown skill to help with crowd control. That impulse saved my butt a couple times. Overall-it was fun and challenging.

I'm going to definitely continue playing! Loving it so far.

The art was done by M-3-1 who does such pretty work. I was originally going to do it all myself but I'm not quite at a professional level yet. (Here's an example of what my drawings of some of the characters look like):



I really liked putting in types of music I like even if they aren't what people usually think of as standard fantasy music! Super glad it's to your liking ^_^

If I have any regrets it's in some of the pacing of the game and that some of the dungeons are a bit too long (and that I'm slightly better at writing romance than I waS XD). All in all I'm pretty happy with the game despite that.

I'm really sorry at taking so long to read these chapters. To be honest, when I started, just reading my own characters talking and behaving through the lens of an outsider made me really embarrassed for some weird reason, and for a while made me wanna hide my face in my pillow XDXD;;;

But now that I've calmed down and read the chapters, they are all very well done, and I'm extremely pleased to see how well you've captured these characters voices, down to, like, minor NPCs! It is very impressive and super flattering.

I look forward to more and again, thank you so much for writing this! :DDDDD

Turning minor characters into major ones is kind of my thing, so I'm glad you like that. I actually found Zeri and Davis fairly easy to write (compared to Merel and especially Chisa). I had less material to work off, but that also meant less worry about contradicting canon.

There's something I've been wanting to say ever since I went back to rewrite the opening, and now that you've seen it I can say it. My thought process at the time went something like this:

"Okay, this scene needs to establish some context for non-players...better mention Darkloft and show a bit of how Merel thinks...maybe I can have Merel compare this throne room to others; that would set the scene, introduce some Luxaren geography, and show that Merel's somewhat well-traveled; three birds with one stone is good...okay, running with that, let's look at the throne rooms in RPGMaker...hey, wait a minute...
