Karuna and Aurelie were friends. Then Aurelie went off and found the infernal armor of Ellicide and became the Evil Overlord Darkloft. Karuna is the only one who can stop her. But Karuna loves Aurelie, even now.

Luxaren Allure is a medium-sized RPG (12-20 hours) that follows Karuna and her allies as they explore the isles of Luxaren and confront a former friend who now wants nothing but destruction. This is a wlw (women who love women, lesbian romance, yuri, etc) game with an all female playable cast.

Also included are:

  • Title Screen Art, Face Portraits and Illustrations by M-3-1 (http://m-3-1.deviantart.com/)
  • Side View CTB Battles, with animated heroes and (semi)animated enemies!
  • New tilesets and battlers, made just for this game!
  • No random encounters. All enemies are visible on screen, and each triggers a different enemy party.
  • No RTP needed! Most resources are custom, and everything's included with the download.
  • A simple crafting system.
  • A short, character driven story that plays with the standard RPG formula.

Characters:

Karuna has been training with the School of the Unwavering Blade for years, and is considered the best choice for defeating the evil of Darkloft. She's serious, strong-headed, and confident, but her reasons for choosing to be a hero might not exactly be selfless...

Chisa is Karuna's self-proclaimed squire. She's timid but very strong, if a little naive. Her loyalty to Karuna is unquestionable.

A mage from the Naga clan, and one of the few of her kind that does not view humans with suspicion. Carefree and laid-back, she quickly finds herself fascinated with Karuna's quest and even more fascinated with Karuna's squire.

The great-granddaughter of the paladin hero Estes, Lynette is a well-balanced warrior from Rezael who has trained for years to master both the physical and magical arts to make up for the fact that she didn't inherit her family's holy magic powers.

Now known as Overlord Darkloft, the evil one who has placed the isles of Luxaren in dire peril. Karuna has so many questions for her. What will happen when they finally meet again?

Scripts used:
  • Yanfly's Ace Core Engine, Message, Menu, Equipment and Battle systems!
  • Kread-EX's Animated Battlers!
  • Fomar0153's Compatible Customisable ATB/Stamina Based Battle System!
  • Coelocanth's Item Crafting system!
  • NeonBlack's No AutoShadows

And a special thanks to Red Nova, LockeZ, Crystalgate, Archeia_Nessiah, GreatRedSpirit, and everyone else in the Rpgmaker.net forums for their fantastic suggestions, advice, and general help!

I've put about an hour into the game so far and I'm definitely hooked. There was clearly a lot of love put into this and it shows!

It's been so long since I've played a big, epic-scale RPG Maker title like this and it really hits home. Can't wait to play the rest!

Thank you so much! :DDDDDD I am so glad to hear you're enjoying it! ^____^
I loved this game! My friend watched me as I played it and we were both having so much fun!

Merel and Chisa were my absolute favorites. I was squealing every time they had a little scene together. (I am somewhat disappointed they didn't kiss but I'll live) I really liked Aurelie's skills! She was fun to play. I didn't like Lynette too much, which was probably the point. The second water dungeon was pretty annoying. I couldn't remember where I'd been and I just ended up looking it up. Also I had a hard time with the choosing elements part. I looked it up but it still ended up wrong. I don't know how I messed it up so many times while looking right at it but I got it eventually. Anyway, the game overall was amazing! I loved it so much.

It's a bit sad to hear that you had trouble with the elemental puzzle, even after consulting the solution. Though, while you eventually figured it out, if there was a way to make it clearer for future players, that would be great to hear!

I'm not even the dev!
I first had trouble with figuring out which picture was which element. I have no idea how I got it wrong with the solution showing which order by numbers though. I must have miscounted a bunch.

Thank you sooooo much for playing! I am thrilled that you enjoyed it! As for the second water dungeon, yeah, I think I went overboard on it >.<;; As for the puzzle with the elemental buttons, do you think it would be clearer if, when you examined the buttons, it said "Press the Water Button? Yes/No" so you would know which one you are pushing? I was also thinking of having the clues bold the important words if the player kept inputting the wrong order, too.

Thanks so much!
Hmm, I think I'm the only one who didn't have any difficulty with the 2nd water dungeon?

I didn't find Tidal Caves 2.0 difficult. Just lengthy, with a lot of encounters. It was the only time I ever ran low on supplies and had to make a trip back to town to restock.

I can see how navigating the flood areas would be confusing, but I just used the check of, "if there's an enemy, I've not been here before," to keep track of my progress.

RE Elemental puzzle: The important words could be in all caps to stand out. Another technique to make those words stand out is to set the colors to be different. So, for example, maybe something like...

...this?

*Edit: Though, labeling the buttons might not be a bad idea.

As far as that puzzle goes, its more a matter fo just realizing the order of the tablets. once I got that down, I was good.

That's a good idea, Marrend, but I'm still wondering if I should wait until the player fails at least once before I start making it more obvious?

Maybe how soon the hints appear depend on the difficulty level? How feasible is that idea, though?

*Edit: So, for example, maybe at the easiest difficulty, the hints appear at the offset, and each difficulty level beyond that adds, I dunno, up to two tries before the hints come up?

Good idea! I can definitely do that! Thanks, Marrend! :D
Regarding the element puzzle, the issue I had with it wasn't that it was hard, but that it was difficult to tell which button represented which element.

For example, at first I thought that the button with the dark green stuff was plants, and the button with the bright green was poison.

This didn't work, and I realized that the button in front of the the bright green picture, when pushed, had a little symbol of a leaf appear on it. So I realized it was actually plants, and the dark green one was the poison clouds.

Except that also wasn't true. Turns out the dark green button was for the wind, and there was nothing representing poison among the buttons.

I had no idea. If not for a comment by Marrend, I'd probably still be stuck here.

Ironically, even though the comment helped me figure out the correct order, it still referenced poison incorrectly. Marrend said the correct order was
"Dark, Earth, Water, Poison, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Light."
In fact, the correct order was
"Dark, Earth, Water, PLANTS, Fire, Wind, Thunder, Ice, Light."

I've seen multiple comments from people who have solved the puzzle and who still don't realize that the bright green button has a leaf symbol and is for plants, not poison. If not for the fact that it conveniently resulted in them pressing the button at the same time anyways, who knows how many would have gotten stuck?

Unless, perhaps, the bright green button actually IS for poison, and the leaft symbol that appears when it's pressed is a mistake? Regardless, it's confusing.

Anyways, this is my single biggest issue with the game, so I definitely think something that makes it clearer which button is which would be good. (And it's something to keep in mind for future games)
Really? Well, for a seasoned RPG veteran, I know there's no such element called plants.

But yeah, you're right that the plant icon should be changed to look more like a poison icon.

You've never played a game with a plant elemental? Also, if you go back to the religious concepts for various elements, the Chinese elements include "wood" as an element, so plants being one of the elements doesn't seem off, especially when it's related to a story about the essential elements that created the world, and plants are kind of an essential part of the world.
@Mad_Scientist: Actually, now that I think about it, I did (I forgot I played Pokemon haha).

And ok, now that I took a 2nd look at the puzzle, I understand why you took the leaf as plants instead of poison. But for me, I didn't think of it as plants in the first place because of 1) the sound effect when you click on the button (it gives a poison-like bubbly sound, which is uncharacteristic of plants) and 2) the square icon above the leaf button pretty much shows a poison-like icon.

But yeah, like I said, you're right that the leaf icon should be changed to something else as it can be misleading.

That's a good point. I'll add a prompt that says "Push the (Element Name) button?" so players are clear on what the button means. I'll change that icon to look more like poison than plants. I'll also be implementing the color hint system Marrend came up with. ^_^

After looking at the actual icons, the one Mad_Scientist is labeling as "Plants" appears to have a skull-like figure on it to me. That is probably where that association with "Poison" comes from on my end. Also, recall what the Riddlemonger says...

The ground was shaped and changed by endless GEYSERES of the tears of the old gods. Their memories became buds, and soon the world was covered in greenery.

Some of the greenery released vile TOXIC gas into the air, and so the Ageless purged these abnormal flowers with an eternal FLAME.

The confusion here stems from the fact that Nature element includes both poison and plants. Though I put both poison and plants in the description "some of the greenery released vile toxic gas." I knew I put that leaf icon there for a reason. ^_^

I didn't think there'd be this much confusion as the upper icons are the same ones that appear before your characters elemental moves. But I will label each one so future players can avoid the confusion.
