Walkthrough / Let's Play

It has been several years since creating this, my first ever, game. Looking back at it I am still proud of it and happy I made it. So, I went back and did a Let's Play that can act as a walkthrough for anybody who gets lost or needs some help:

While you are there you can check out some of the other videos I did in a series of Let's Plays, check it out if you're interested:

But thank you again for playing and I hope everyone enjoys the game!

Thank you!

This started out as just an idea my friend and I had when we were ten. We were on a road trip during a vacation thinking of a fun way to spend our time and we decided to write the basis and plot for a video game. It was something we started writing in a notebook and then on Microsoft Word, it was never meant to actually be created. But our 10 year old minds would have been blown if we would have seen it turn into something real.

It has been well over a year since I finished this, my first venture into making video games. And while it did take a lot of time, I personally will always think it was worth it because it was such a personal game to me from my childhood. But, surprisingly, all the positive feedback I have gotten has been pretty overwhelming. It's a game that I figured nobody would actually enjoy since they have no ties to, or knowledge of, who these animals even are. Especially since it's a game created by someone who knows nothing, I mean absolutely NOTHING, about video game design. I have played a lot of games throughout my life, but I never really dreamed that I would actually be able to create one myself since I have no programming experience.

Maybe this game has not gotten the rating or number of downloads other games have, but I'm still proud of it. The complete experience of creating it, from first remembering and talking about it with my friend all these years later to seeing it completed, has been such a positive one for me. It has been SUCH a great experience that I find myself coming to this very site extremely frequently. When I finished I thought that this would be the only game I would ever make, but after enough time I found myself wanting to make another.

A different friend of mine, Ron, played my game and mentioned the idea of making something else that I had already been thinking about making. You see, both my friend and I have been lifelong / diehard fans of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. We loved the cartoon, the movies, the comics, and the video games associated with them, but we couldn't figure out why we had never played a role-playing game featuring our favorite set of four brothers.* With this program, and our knowledge of the characters, we figured we could make a game that would make Eastman and Laird proud, so we started working on just that. We have been slowly steadily working on this game in our small bits of free time and are still currently working on it. Again, it is being made by people with limited experience and technical know-how, but is definitely one created by fans and I hope it can live up to a certain standard.

All in all I really just wanted to say "Thank You!" Before this idea came about I had no idea there was such a great community of clever, creative, and talented people. I would never have found so many amazing independent games and all the support that this site, and the RPG Maker community in general, provides. So, thank you, from the bottom of my heart. You helped a man's silly childhood dream come true and I'm certain that I am not the only one that feels this way.

*There are technically TMNT RPG style video games made years ago: Ninja Tribunal and The Shredder Reborn were both mobile games. Not well known and not well received.

Game Notes

A game that was created to pay homage to all the great 16-bit jRPGs. It uses simple, turn-based game play and clever dialogue as the heroes go on their journey. It generally takes anywhere between 5-8 hours to complete the game. A great number of video game and movie references are littered throughout and should be appreciated by those who catch them. A simple and fun game that was 16 years in the making...

Tips:
• You can save at any point and any time, so make sure to save frequently. Just don't save in the wrong spot and get yourself stuck.

• Take advantage of the recently placed markers that are placed before boss battles. They can heal you and you should probably take that time to save too.

• Talk to everyone in town. Sometimes they will have little tips, but more importantly, I wrote all of it so you better enjoy what they have to say!

• There may be some mistakes, either in programming, grammar/spelling, or anything else. If you find something wrong then let me know so I can fix it.

• If you are finding the game too easy, too hard, parts too annoying, or just have any general thoughts on the game, let me know that too; I would love to hear the feed-back.

Thanks for trying out the game and I hope you enjoy it!
