Plain and Simple, a Great Game

This is an old school RPG designed to look like the original Final Fantasy with Dragon Quest's monsters sprinkled in there. The bottom line for this game is that it is fun no matter what else is said it is fun. So fun that I have beaten all 22 hours of it!

The game does an exceptional job of capturing the feeling that those games offered. It also captures the feeling of Final Fantasy where everything is needed and nothing is there for the heck of it. Even towns have more of a purpose than just buying things. You must talk to people, usually a high chief or leader to figure out why you are in the area and what you have to do.

The gameplay is straight forward, there are areas blocked off either by magical doors, guards or things like that which restrict the player to the area they are supposed to be in. Sort of like, town, enemy area, kill something, repeat.

Because of the challenging, but good level of gameplay, there are item shops everywhere. They are usually between passageway caves and the big castles that are there to kill the boss creatures enslaving or terrorizing the area. It provides a nice little break in the action, because often a cave leads to an evil castle.

The story keeps things going even if it is old school, find the four orbs to destroy the evil power that threatens the world.

If you love an old school feel, then this game is for you. If you love games with challenge that are not insamely frustrating, then this game is for you. If you love games that have endings and are not incomplete demos then this game is for you.

Advice: This does start off pretty difficult for the first few caves, but if you level up before the cave after the first game you will be fine. Put some quirks in there, random strange events, or interesting characters that give the player a break from the straight forwardness.
