Part of the RPG Maker Classics Archive: an initiative to upload classic RM games so they are not forgotten.

Developed by: Flare
Date of Release: 2001

Romancing Walker is a romantic RPG that follows the story of Ryle, a young man looking for his purpose. Leaving on a journey of self-discovery, Ryle eventually uncovers not only the secret of his past, but one of world-shattering importance. Joining Ryle in his travels are a bevy of lovely ladies who he may choose to romance and bond with through interactions within the story.

Romancing Walker was made in rm2k and utilizes hand-drawn anime sequences in battle, as well as pictures during important cut-scenes. The biggest draw of the game, however, is the dating simulation which allows you to bond with the other party members. The choices you make during certain scenes will either draw them closer or push them away.

While the game does suffer from 'Engrish' and bad grammar in some parts, it is considered a classic and one of the few games of its time that is complete, with a decent epic tale, interesting characters and interaction between your party. Add in the back-then great graphics in and out of battle and you have a game that is well-remembered as one of the best.

Okay. Um, I'll see if I can't get a download link to you that has all the RTP files in it instead. It'll have to be tomorrow though, because I'm about to bed. ^.^;
thank you very much Liberty, that was nice of you, I can wait to tomorrow
PRAISE BE TO AREMEN FOR THIS BLESSING
Very fun game and IIRC it's decently long for an RM game
Aremen
Then the LORD Aremen said unto Zack, "Behold, I will rain gams from Heaven for you; and the people shall go out and play a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in My maps, or no." - 3TileRule 4:16, Holy Help File

Thus I say unto thee; Whomever asks and believes in Me, shall I bless with abundance. Speak My Name and It shall come to pass that your prayers be answered. Check again, My Childe, for I have given unto thee a new version, with which you shall play and praise My Name.

Here Happy~ Just paste it in the game folder (where all the maps are) and it should work fine.

Yeah I placed it there from other game already, I just figured it might cause trouble for casual downloaders in general.
Ah, okay.

"Oh Great and Mighty Aremen! Your humble servants beseech Thee to please, if at all possible, add to the site a revised download, that we may bask in the glory of Your chosen game.

Damn you, Nofam! If I had Latyss use Heal Rain rather than Blaze Shooter, I swear, you would not have killed half my party that turn!

Uh, don't mind me!

As if to answer Liberty's question...

Death Master is all kinds of lame. His special attack's apply status conditions on Fina, despite the fact that her armor protects her from them. Of course, the statuses are applied via an event, so that could be it right there. Anyway, I've had more than enough moments where Fina's just recovered from STUN, she's at critical health, I queue up Heal Star despite knowing that he's acting first, he attacks with pretty much anything, she's dead, GAME OVER. It's never the first time he pulls that ability out too. It's, like, the second or third time he pulls it out. When I've already put a decent amount of time/effort into the fight, and get the impression that I might actually win. Then, of course, this crap happens.

Sorry about this rant/rage. I really would like to see a conclusion, but, this game is seriously pissing me off with these end-game bosses.

Mines? The one that the Elves want you to visit? The entrance is really small on the world map, but it's in the mountains north-west of Lite Gryn Forest.
So...

I've never played this game before, even though the premise appeals to me, because the translation looks really terrible (I have read through a Let's Play which gives a pretty comprehensive look at all the Engrish.)

I've been wondering for a while why nobody's ever given it a proper translation before, since it's been out for such a long time, and is apparently so popular. But really, if you're going to wonder why nobody else has done something before, you might as well take a shot at it yourself.

For clarification, I do not speak Japanese, and would be revamping RM2KFan's translation.

However, I've never actually worked with this software before, and am unfamiliar with the actual mechanical process of reworking the script for the game.

If anyone is interested in helping me rework the script of this game, please let me know. I'm prepared to do the writing work myself (although I can't by any means guarantee that I'd get it done quickly,) but mechanical assistance would be invaluable.

I am vaguely interested! Though, I can't see how it can be done outside altering all the SHOW TEXT commands that have errors on an individual basis. If there's a faster, more efficient way to do it, I'm not aware of it.
I'm not just planning to correct the errors of grammar, word usage and such, my intention is to thoroughly revamp the script, in the vein of Ryusui's retranslation of Breath of Fire II. There's really no way it wouldn't be labor intensive, and I'm definitely not expecting to breeze through it.

Really, given how much the text in Romancing Walker is difficult to even make sense of in English, I'll probably be treading a line between "editing" and "rewriting." Of course, I'll be trying to preserve the core elements of characterization in the original, and the plot will remain unchanged, but I'd like to revitalize the script to a degree that it'll be worth checking out even for people who've already played the game in its original translation.
I never had an issue (bar perhaps a line here or there) understanding what was said in the game and I did (most of) an LP of it.

You'd probably want to get permission from Flare first, if you can. You shouldn't actually touch the innards of a game with intent to release without the creators' permission, after all.
