Part of the RPG Maker Classics Archive: an initiative to upload classic RM games so they are not forgotten.

Developed by: Flare
Date of Release: 2001

Romancing Walker is a romantic RPG that follows the story of Ryle, a young man looking for his purpose. Leaving on a journey of self-discovery, Ryle eventually uncovers not only the secret of his past, but one of world-shattering importance. Joining Ryle in his travels are a bevy of lovely ladies who he may choose to romance and bond with through interactions within the story.

Romancing Walker was made in rm2k and utilizes hand-drawn anime sequences in battle, as well as pictures during important cut-scenes. The biggest draw of the game, however, is the dating simulation which allows you to bond with the other party members. The choices you make during certain scenes will either draw them closer or push them away.

While the game does suffer from 'Engrish' and bad grammar in some parts, it is considered a classic and one of the few games of its time that is complete, with a decent epic tale, interesting characters and interaction between your party. Add in the back-then great graphics in and out of battle and you have a game that is well-remembered as one of the best.

You can download it from the utilities/plug-ins section of the site (under the development heading.) Put it in the game folder. It's a small download.

Thanks but now i have this "Direct draw error DDERR_unsupported"

I have a bad feeling about this :)
Okay, that one is odd. A quick search on the site for it led to this topic, however, which should help: http://rpgmaker.net/forums/topics/10204/

thanks fixed it.
Hi umm stupid question but what do the questions at the start affect the main thing i need to know is if it is important or if it like has no reason to be there.

Plz no spoilers if that is the case just say it would ruin the game if you told me.
It does change the stats but only a little. It's not a huge deal. There are other choices in the game, however, that will change how certain people think about you so be careful.

Oh ok thanks i guess i will just pick what i would do then...I will go with
surrender self
explore the world
anywhere
options
In the first town i ran into a sign i can't read i just get a error that says "Cannot open file Royal"
I mean this one is easy to ignore but i hope i don't run into any more errors so far it's a fun game it would be a shame if it is ruined by errors.
Don’t worry, that should be the last of the errors that you’ll be experiencing with and the rest of the game will all be smooth sailing ahead.

The missing harmony.dil and the missing Royal systemset files are the only real things that were omitted from this when the game was re-uploaded to RMN quite some time ago. For the missing Royal systemset file, just copy one of the pre-existing systemsets that came with the game and just rename that new file “Royal” and that should do it.

Thank you that fixed the error i restarted my game just to be safe and so far i really like the game not a huge fan of the fact that the one guy says you can't get skills from leveling but so far it's been fun.
Oh i just got a skill for one of the girls from leveling i guess it's only the guy that can't get skills that way...ok
Hi i don't know if the maker of the game reads posts but i wanted to offer my help i would like to fix some of the grammar/spelling issues with this game....it's really bad.
HOWEVER i need you to know i am by no means good at grammar but i feel i could at least fix some of the really big issues.
The creator of the game was Japanese, and it was translated to English quite awkwardly, so there's a lot of Engrish. A lot of people actually find it pretty charming, though, as it kinda fits the game in a way. That said, sadly the creator doesn't seem to be making games any more so it'll very likely stay with the Engrish it has. Just don't take it too seriously and have fun~

Well i guess if people like it me it's like the number one thing bugging me about the game sometimes i don't even know what to do next :)
Oh and can someone plz tell me what the orbs that say NG collection are?
are they just jokes or something :)

Ok i understand.
They're just small silly joke scenes that you can watch when you find them.

Also, future reference, just edit your previous post instead of posting multiple times in a row. It's against site rules to do so, so keep it in mind.

Each time you post on a game page, the people subscribed to the game get a notice that you did so. In this case I got two notices that you had posted. It also clutters up the site so, yeah. >.<)b
I asked the original translator for permission to do an edited version quite some time back. I've been putting it on hold until my work with Chronicles of Tsufanubra is finished, so it's not an immediate prospect, but I haven't discarded the project. I may put out a call for support when I pick it up, so if you or anyone else wants to get involved, I could probably use the help putting it all together.

If there's any part of the dialogues that may seem inconsistent, you can hit me up if you want. I have the original Japanese version of the game, so I can directly translate the text from there for consistency.

In all honesty, though, while the translation is bad, as Liberty said, it's charming and fits the game in a way. I personally enjoyed the game even with the Engrish, so editing it to proper English while still maintaining this game's charm can be quite tricky. I'm all for improving the English, though.
I'll probably take you up on that. I'm not always going to consider myself bound strictly to the letter of the original text, but I want to preserve the spirit of the original.
