It Moves MV and Steam

Exciting news, me and my new friend Kodama Games are releasing It Moves on Steam. Kodama Games (or Nansensu on rpgmaker.net) generously offered to pay Steams fees to put the game there, and it’s going to be released soon. Since it’s kinda lame to just rerelease the same game years later, we have also been working on porting the game to RPG Maker MV. Nansensu is also helping with this, since it’s actually a lot of work doing this. What a great person!

This is great news for everyone that wanted to play the game on another platform than computers. MV also supports HTML5, so you’ll be able to play it on basically ANYTHING that has a web browser, like for example newer Playstations, Nintendo Switch, newer Xboxes and basically all mobile phones and so on.

Another massive improvement is the resolution on MV. That does mean that I’ve converted the graphics in the game, to a whopping 1.5X improvement in size. Here’s a example of that:

As you can see, it will look the same, except way bigger. You can find the “It Moves” page on steam already if you search for it, or follow this link https://store.steampowered.com/app/1028930/It_Moves/

It will just say “Coming soon” until it’s released, so there’s obviously nothing to download yet. The pictures are also from the old version, sadly. There’s a cool trailer though, so that’s something! Oh and just for claritys sake, it will still be free. Drop a comment or something on the steam page, I’d appreciate it!

The end is here

The game has been finished! Holy crap that took a lot longer than I thought (three months more to be precise) but it's finally here. I'm really psyched for this thing and I hope you are too.

Progress Report

The end is near

5/7 parts of the game are done, and the rest have been partially completed as well.
I'm excited, I think this is gonna be one of my best ones.
It's probably the game I put the most time on so far, so it shouldn't be a big surprise, I guess.

Progress Report

Back on track

I'm back to working on the game after a month of other stuff, including but not limited to: Making another game, being sick, crashing a car and watching copious amounts of horror movies.
Have some screenshot as an apology for my slow progress.

Recognition

I was watching a Let's Play of the demo, and the dude playing it got to the 3rd dream. Suddenly he exclaimed "Oh, this is by the same person that made Rust and Blood!". That means I'm doing something right, because not only did he remember the other game, but he even recognized my style.
I thought that was kinda neat.

I think the best thing you can ask for as a game developer is that your players remember your games (in a positive way).

In other news, I'll be starting up again after a weeklong break, since I've been adjusting to some schedule changes (new job).

Progress Report

Streamlining

The download is updated. As I said in the former blog, I've been improving the ambient sounds and general BGS of the game (alot), I've also made small improvements (hopefully) in a lot of old areas, like adding creatures to the jungle, made some small changes to the intro, and a couple of other things. Basically I've tried to make the demo as good as it can possibly be. Apart from that, I've haven't really added much new stuff (finished the 3rd dream), but what's there should be pretty much the same quality through the whole thing. If not, feel free to tell me.
I'm feeling good about this release.

Game Design

Sound design

The last week I haven't actually added much new stuff. Instead I have been working on a area that I love in horror games. Ambient sounds. If you ask me, this is the difference between a good horror and a great horror. It's the kind of sound that nobody will ever thank you for adding, but it adds SO much to the experience.
Try playing virtually any great horror game without the sound and you will see what I mean.
I just love those distant moans and groans, buildings that creak and insects that buzz in the background.
