Game Over

Hi, everyone.

I posted this forum to inform you that, sadly, I won't be working on this project anymore. The reasons behind this decision are two:

The first reason, is that I made the mistake that every rookie developer has to avoid: I was too ambitious in my first game. I thought too big, and that's something that happens to me every time I plan a game. I take a simple idea, and I put into it all kinds of features without thinking about how it will affect the planning of my project, just because I think a big quantity of features will make the game more fun.

And the second reason, is that in the bottom, I didn't knew if this was really the project I wanted to accomplish. And that just lowered my motivation to continue with this game. I want to make a project that not only people enjoy, but that I also enjoy too.

Because of that, this game will be cancelled. And until I don't work in these personal issues, I won't make any other project.

I'm sorry if I let you down, and I promise that when I make another project, this time I will finish it. And it will be a project that hopefully, not only you will enjoy playing, but it will be also a project that I will enjoy making.

I'll see you in another project

Initial response:
Ouch.

More thought-out response:
Having ambitions aren't necessarily a bad thing. Though, perhaps it's more a case of realizing that you don't have the skills to make this game "right now"? As for feeling that this might not be the project you wanted to make in the first place, I'm not so sure about that. Something inside of you wanted to make this game happen. The desire was there. I dunno, maybe you just need to take a small break from doing this by, as I think you're suggesting, making something else?

...Darigaaz, look who the hell is talking.

Well, that's sad. I hope you rediscover your motivation and perspective to work on game projects soon.
Thanks for the words of encouragment, guys.

As for the ambition part, maybe I wanted to say that I made the game too complex for my own good. The structure and the ramifications (giving that it was going to be a game with multiple endings) were too much for my first project and for me. I think that what I have to do is to start small, but also in a way that I can enjoy the making process, if you understand what I'm talking about...

But anyways, I'm going to focus in another things for now, like the Heartache 101 character I'm making now. :)

When the time comes, I'll be ready to show you my new project.
