Important Map Announcement

Hello! Unity here! It's been a little bit since the last blog, but I have something important to talk about that I should have brought up sooner.

Something that may seem obvious needs a disclaimer and I totally didn't put one on it. I need anyone making maps to know that I'll be editing them to work in the game. Now, this may sound obvious, as of course I have to edit them to put in events and transitions from one area to the next, but also, we want the game to feel consistent, so I may have to edit other things as well. I'm going to try not to do anything major to them, but I want everyone to understand that minor tweaks may be necessary for them to all fit together.

Several of you have already sent me maps. If you read this, please let me know if I have permission to make small edits as needed to your maps. If not, I'll be contacting you via PM over the next several days. To anyone making a map, please be aware of this. I'll be adding this disclaimer to the Make A Map page as well.

You may be asking "Why the big deal over something so minor, unity?" The answer is, with so many people pitching in and providing content, the last thing I want to do is upset them if they didn't want something they made to be altered at all. It's unfortunately a necessity, but I'd like everyone to be aware of it, and I apologize for not being clearer about it earlier.

***

In news more related to the actual progress of the game, the second region is still under construction, but it's starting to come together. We've added Blaïze to the list of characters that will join in this region. If you want your character in there, there's still time to volunteer ^_^

Also, to any of our map-makers who reserved one of the locations being featured in this next region (they all have a *** next to their name on the Make a Map page), if I could get them within the next two to three weeks, that would be fantastic.

A huge thanks to everyone for all the support we've been getting! Unfortunately, the nature of how this game is being made makes it really hard to give an estimate as to when we can release the next demo, but rest assured that I'll be putting in work on it constantly to get it in that direction ^_^

Eh, I don't think I'd mind whatever edits you make to my maps. They could probably use a little spiffy-ing up anyways.

I don't mind your making changes, unity, but I'd appreciate it if you'd consult with me concerning any major ones, especially in dialogue, similar to the interaction between an author and his editor. Which reminds me- I'd like to review your edit of Hitori's intro.
Um, what? Unity is in charge of the dialogue and eventing. The main dialogue for the characters is already done - it was part of the character creation. If there's more added I'm sure unity can do a great job at it and you can give feedback after the fact, no need to get ahead of yourself. She is quite capable you know? And it's not like there's going to be a shit ton of dialogue if there is any extra anyway - maybe two or three sentences. Easy on, mate.

Wait a sec, isn't Hitori LockeZ's creation? Um, what? o.O

Edit: fixed

I would have more makerscore If I did things.

Who the hell is Hatori?
LockeZ
I'd really like to get rid of LockeZ. His play style is way too unpredictable. He's always like this too. If he ran a country, he'd just kill and imprison people at random until crime stopped.

Yeah BurningTyger started sending me pages and pages of dialogue for her and I was just like "I don't care, I'm not involved in the story, Unity is handling that." But I'm pretty sure he sent me more dialogue for her than she needs to have in the entire game.
I have no problem with this, Unity.

I hope my map helps the game! It was really fun working with elevation and water since I hadn't done much of it.

I guess I got a bit carried away here but there's such potential inherent in the characters that I hoped to assist Unity and the rest of you in building on what was already there, to enhance it, take it to the next level. I do know that Unity liked my idea that Blaize would be in Mount Arazia and suggestion how ze might join the party. I certainly am not trying to be obstructionist in any way; this is, after all, a team effort, and there's no I in team. *Goes back to his maps to make certain they're ready in time*

If anyone's overly worried over what I might do to their map, they can request I send them a list of what I plan to edit. Beyond that, however, I'm just asking for a little bit of trust on the issue. In the worse-case scenario, if you think I've done something that's drastically hurt your map, we can discuss it and work something out. You'll still have the original so it's not like it's lost, either.

As for Hitori and me sending you my edit of her intro, I need you to understand my position. I like your enthusiasm, BurningTyger, and you have a lot of neat ideas. However, you've flooded my inbox with ideas not only for Hitori but for several other characters and aspects of the story, and while I appreciate the input, I can't provide constant instant feedback on how I'll use said ideas. I also cannot offer you a large degree of control over exactly how they play out in-game. There are thirty characters and tons of details to this game. If I tried to get everyone's ideas to mesh perfectly and constantly PMed them revisions and made sure I got constant approval, the game would frankly never be completed.

It's my understanding that LockeZ has given you the okay to write Hitori's dialog, and you've sent me plenty. Once I've put together the next demo and Hitori is introduced, if you don't like how I used the dialog you sent me, we can discuss it then. But I don't have time to send you every piece of dialog right now and wait for your approval on it.

Thanks very much! And your map has helped a ton! I love what you did with it ^_^
Hey, hey take it easy. I'm all for the edits, I'm not the best at mapping myself. So, go ahead and go wild!

( My attempted summary) "I appreciate your ideas, but know that I have to tie together a lot of different materials into a single game and don't have the time or luxury to go over minutiae individually with you one by one. If when the next region comes out, you feel something is really off, we can discuss it then, but right now I need to focus on finishing the section."
Unity, I completely understand. I hadn't meant to be so demanding and sharp; I look forward to seeing what you do with what I gave you and we can always discuss it later if there are problems. Good luck, and I'll have the other maps for you soon.

bluh I'm sorry for tossing Arazia back to you, *I just wasn't certain how to go about it... It's not a dungeon and it's not a town,So i wasn't quite certain what approach to take.
