Patient 213 is the story of one man who wakes up in a room with only a bed and no recollection of previous events. Not only will the character learn the rules of the asylum, but the player will feel immersed and slightly unnerved by the atmosphere in the asylum. Some patients in the asylum can be trusted, others cannot.

Every move Patient 213 makes will have some sort of impact on his experience at the asylum.

Made with RPG Maker VX Ace Lite, this game was created with very little resources, with the exception of a completely original soundtrack.
This game is intended to completely immerse the player in the asylum to feel the same emotions as the character.

This is NardWare's debut game.

Can you escape the asylum?

It's been over a year...

..Since I submitted Patient 213, and the response has been amazing. I've gotten emails from people from around the world about it and over 600 (which for something that I made in a basement for a little over a month is a lot considering I really didn't advertise it a great deal). NardWare is no more as I am coming up with something a little more professional. That name was just sort of a placeholder until I thought of something better which I never did.

I'm in the middle of deciding whether or not to remake Patient 213 with the full engine and if it does happen, I want it to be on Steam. I have a lot of projects going on right at the moment but I will provide links here when something happens.

Thanks to anyone who played 213 and especially to those who said kind words about it. Look forward to more games, but have please patience because I've got a lot of things going on. For now, you can stay updated with me at this link
where I update WAY more regularly than I do here. Thanks again.

This is my first game, and I really hope people enjoy it. It was a departure from games I have tried to make in the past and I wanted to play with people's minds a little.

No battles, no menus, just simply exploration and trying to survive this asylum.

I tried to make the player feel helpless at times throughout the game and I hope it worked.
If anyone needs help in the game or found a problem with the game just let me know and I'll try to help.

I might make a guide for it soon if it's asked for a lot.
is there any battle scenes? or is it like to the moon?

No there are no battles, I focused mainly on telling a story and building an environment in this environment-less place.
I'm stuck at the medical wing.. if i go to the left the guards catch me and put me in desolation and then i have to press F12 to go back to the start screen. if i go to the right then it just takes me back to the fireplace in the torture room.. wat am i supposed to do?? i tried interacting with the guard on left side but nothing happens.. also i keep getting caught in the stock room when i talk to the nurse. i tried to outrun the guards there but more guards came n they surrounded me..
plz help me :(
I'm stuck at the medical wing as well.. this could be a game-breaking bug:(

There is a clue on how to beat desolation. Just before you get thrown into desolation, the phrase "how long can you last in desolation?" is spoken. You don't have to press F12...
The game is designed to mess with you, it's not broken.
Hi! I liked this game, though there wasn't a lot of interactivity between the patient and items in the game. It was nicely designed and the storyline was great. I made a Let's Play of it but I haven't been able to complete all five challenges yet! If you would like to see the let's play there's a link to my youtube page on my profile :) Looking forward to your next game!

Thanks so much for that comment. I'm actually thinking of remaking this game if it can generate enough interest and get it Greenlit on Steam. I think it's amazing that you are doing a let's play of it, but I couldn't find it on your channel (I subbed, BTW). In all truth, I think the 5 challenges are a little buggy and don't work properly, which is why I want to remake it and add a LOT of stuff since I have the full version of the maker now. I made this with the LITE version of VX Ace and was super limited on what I could do. ANYWAY. Thanks so much. I'm also changing the "NardWare" name to something different as it was just a placeholder that kind of stuck, but I'll provide links when I get all that situated. Until then, I'm working on 46437 different projects!
got stuck at the receptionist. Ended up going back to the cafeteria and as soon as the other guy heard me mention salt, he walked down and the game froze. I think 535 (who was in my party) was blocking him from walking to where he needed to be and the move route wasnt skipped. I have no gripes about you using lite, but something that was intensely annoying was how most of the areas forced you to walk, slowing the game's pace to a snail crawl. Wished I could complete this though. Liked the horror tracks, reminded me of afraid of monsters

3 YEARS LATER I completed this game. It looks like the game has various ways to get stuck and mess up event flags. But it is possible to complete if you avoid doing anything out of the intended path. I don't like to stay on rails in games but here you have to be careful or you can break the game.
