Hello RMN. For those of you who are interested in Father, thanks for showing your support. I really appreciate it. Today, I have a mini event that will be taking place. Here are the details:
Example enemies:
Mr. Fowl
Scaredy Cat
Info: Father encompasses an era where human influence has become very strong on wild life and insect life. The main reason for this is GOODY Corp, an unethical corporation, that will do ANYTHING to progress. Thus, wild life has suffered from their continuous forced natural selection, chemical emissions, and overall human influence. So, the monsters should be based off of real animals. That's the cutting point. I guess it is in a way like Mother 3 but the choices you can make are endless.
Running Time: Until Development Finishes.
Objective: Father isn't using Mother 3 enemies any more. I kinda found that to be quite tacky. Thus, I am beginning to create my own monsters for the game. The monsters are going to be influenced by the world. Essentially, the world is corrupting the wild life and upsetting the balance between humans and animals/insects. So... anything goes!
Rules/Conditions
A.) All participants must send me a submission form to be considered.

You can also view the information and fill the form out on the Monster Maker Page.
B.) You may submit any number of monsters you want. You can send the sketches via PM or post it on this blog.
C.) Monsters must not use any strong sexual references. I know Crack Cocanine is going a bit far but there's not crack on the dog to be seen. In other words, I don't wanna see bananas, cherrys, or anything of the sort. Unless they are properly clothed.
D.)You must send it as a PNG file!!!
I will not accept any jpg, bmp, or any other file formats. Naturally, cameras take jpegs but you can find numerous raster based programs that allow you to export to PNG.
*REMINDER* The maximum monster size is 128x128 Pixels. That isn't the maximum file size but the monsters will be made in a 128x128 all the way down to a 16x16.
My only hope is that you have fun with this and you'll be able to see your monster in Father when it is released. Until then, you can try out a demo of the game that encompasses what it might be like.
The only incentive for you to participate is that you'll be noted in the credits and you'll be aiding in the creation of Father. I'm not asking that you do picasso work here. Just a sketch that you would make in your notes or something. I have plenty of ideas, I just thought it would be cool if enemies from RMN were on here. But I guess I'm not that popular to run such an event.

IT doesn't matter that you haven't drawn in some time. I just thought it would be cool for RMN to have their creations in this game. Others are taking it the wrong way I guess. Thanks for your submission! I will most likely be adding a poll for voting of enemies. Thanks again.

I'm a bit rusty, so I asked my friend if he could draw the next one.
I know these probably aren't what you're looking for,
but he and I are both huge fans of Earthbound!
So we're gonna try and throw in a few more and maybe revise them a
bit so they're more appropriate pokemon/earthbound-ish - these are quick sketches.
The Foul Mouthed Fox said something about your Mom!
- 200 HP of damage!!

7.) Anything else I should know about this monster?: He's an a-hole.

Thanks much. Actually, I encountered a road block with the contest. Apparently, I'm not well known on the site and I can't really run an event yet. I understand that. I really appreciate your help. If you actually don't mind, you can keep sending in ideas as long as development goes on. There is not contest but I will do my best in recreating you and your friends' creations. Seriously, I appreciate what you're doing. Now I have to catch up with the illustrator and work on that XD

You can run an event on your page, there's nothing saying you can't do that, but on the forums themselves it's a good idea to get staff backing or people are just going to ignore and/or hate on the seemingly self-advertisement side of it. If people are responding to this page event, keep it going. Nothing says you can't and you're getting people to help out.

Good to hear! In the inbetween time where I can't get full character propositions up, you are more than welcome to add ideas. My hope is that these monsters will help shape the overall direction of the game.

This event is a pretty good idea! There are probably a lot of creative people here so I'm looking forward to seeing some awesome monster designs. I'm not really confident in my drawing skills but I may still try to come up with something.

But it didn't turn out as good, so I'll probably finish it up or try to fix it up later -
So ya, simple is definitely better, I think.

1.) Name: The Yale Frog/The Varsity Yale Frog/The Ivy League Frog?(still deciding on a name. etc)
*for harder levels, you can re-color him brown and call him the The Harvard Toad (...Because of that one year, where Harvard beat Yale 29-29)
2.) Monster Attack Phrase:
(throwing suggestions here)
"The Yale Frogs asks if you're a Yale man"
"The Yale Frog asks if you went to Yale"
"The Yale Frog asks you a skill testing question"

he has to be standing on something, maybe a football -
he has to look really smug, while croaking and wearing
some sort of university varsity jacket or sweater with a "Y" on it.
But the "Y" has to be placed somewhere, where everyone
can see it, because he's really proud of the "Y" - it's like a medal to him.
I dunno, I will probably do a more simple version later on...
...I need to draw more

Wow! That is pretty good. I was gonna start on these soon but you beat me to this one! If you don't mind, you can send me the original spritework via PM so I can start making a monster bank/record. However, even though the idea for a Yale frog is a great idea, I would have to change the Yale to a different name to suit the game's atmosphere. In the end, I might or I might not. Thanks to you both.Keep the ideas coming! You'll see more work from me soon as well.

As for me, i don't mind at all, i'll send you the original soon. In fact i feel something is amiss about my work so if you'll be making any touchups to fit the game's resolution, mood and atmosphere, please share with me too! :)
