This has got to be one of the funniest parody rpg's I've played in a long while, even compared to games like Bob's Big Adventure and Worst/Worster RPG. The humor is crude, but very witty, and the characters you control remind me a lot like my own friends back in the days of highschool. I could even pick out my friends in each of the characters.

The story itself is your typical run of the mill, save the princess from a growing evil and prevent somebody or something from opening a gate that will allow a demonic entity from coming through. However, the execution of the story is another matter entirely. Initially, I feared that the best pieces of humor would be found at the beginning of the game and that the story would grow dry over time, but I was wrong. The game continues to flow nicely, and the humor gets better every moment.

However, that's not to say this game is perfect by any means, or without its faults, because there are plenty. First, although the writing was near flawless, a lot of the humor that might have been gets lost in a lot of auto text scroll situations, where a person has much to say and it's not meant for the viewer to read any of it, or when other characters are constantly interrupting. It's a cheap trick, and I'd very much like to know what was being said on those occassions. Another problem was in some situations the text gets cut off. I know it's hard to fix these to a perfect "T" in 2K/2K3 because a preview tab is lacking, but that's what game testing is for. Make sure that your text scrolls to the next line if it doesn't fit onto the line you are currently at. There were a few potential game crashing bugs (mainly dealing with teleports), and some scenese repeated themselves because switches were not properly used. As for mapping, most of it was done well, but town mapping seemed fairly horrendous.

Luckily, the story and gameplay more than make up for these negatives. I know it's been too long to really know where a sequel is at... and I'm really not sure what's up with 2k/2k3 games and there incomplete stories (A Blurred Line, Carpe Diem, Balmung Cycle, and now this), but maybe we will all get closure at some point down the road.

Story 3.5/5 - Fix those cut-offs and that will give your story a much better boost.
Resources/Mapping - 3/5 - Good use of music, most of the mapping was okay, work on town maps.
Gameplay 3/5 - Bosses were fairly easy, more cutscenes than game play time, but exploring and random encounters were fairly well balanced.
Execution - 2/5 - Fix those bugs, add switches for certain events.

Overall: Game falls just a little below 3/5 stars.

There you go, a short, simple review. So long and... Shabong!

Aha! The most polarizing game on the site!
I never shared the hate for this game that it garnered from its time as the featured game. I probably didn't like it as much as you either though. Someday I may give it a more thorough play through, I just wish he had done something different with the battles.
