Navigating the World

The world of Nsala is massive. To help you navigate there are a number of options at your disposal.

Early in the game you will get the Call Clua spell. If you are unsure where to go or what to do next use the Call Clua spell. You'll be able to then ask her for directions on where to go or you can ask Clua for help on a puzzle. You can also visit your friend Rawjal at her home for guidance as well.

Plus, Clua will provide other hints along the way as well and you can also get hints from special Hint Statues scattered across the land.

If you need help finding the Elemental Emblems visit Tingtembo. You can find him easily within the jungle settlement of Yoba Village. Tingtembo will mark your map with the exact locations of the Elemental Emblems. This is an optional upgrade for your map. If you enjoy exploring on your own than don't mark your map but if you're having trouble finding the Elemental Emblems than this option will make it easy for you.

Lastly, there's even a guidance system for leveling up. The fortune teller of Umoja City can help you if you want to find more Mystic Gongs which raise Lanoa's Max Life and Max Magi.

Nsala Liberation and future games.

Hello my friends, hope everyone is having a good Black History Month. I decided it was a good time to let you all know what I've been up to and what I have planned. I am currently working on what might be the final update to Nsala Liberation. The new version will have various upgrades that I think will make the game a smoother experience for players. For example, I have reprogrammed almost every enemy in the game for a variety of reasons but one reason was to facilitate the ability to Auto-regenerate when you die. Essentially, it works like a fairy in the Legend of Zelda. I still have to do more testing but so far it seems like I'll be able to accomplish this addition to the game. This is an optional thing the player can have but I felt it was an important addition because the difficulty of my game has often been a barrier for new players and I want my game to be able to be played by a large number of players. Besides quality of life improvements, I'm also adding some more side quests and other things. I hope to release this version of the game sometime this year or next year. Hopefully it'll be sooner than later but I do tend to take a long time to work.

Outside of Nsala Liberation, I've been working on a card game, which at the moment is planned to be physical cards though I may make it into a video game at some point.

I have recently bought a 3D engine so I may make a 3D game in the future and I also still have ideas for 2D games which will likely still use RPG Maker.

P.S. I do also want to continue the prequel game Nsala Sunset though I may prioritize new projects first. As you can see I have a lot of ideas to work on. So its hard to say exactly which one will come out next but for the time being the main priority is to finish the current Nsala Liberation update.

That's all for now. Thank you for your support.

I've only been playing for about half an hour, but I'm very much enjoying the game so far. As a westerner who doesn't know much about the culture, this is a fascinating way to get exposed to it! The opening was really well done, and the art is amazing. I'll definitely keep playing ^_^

I'm enjoying it so far, but there are a few moments where I was not sure what I'm supposed to be doing. Like I have to stun a guy, I don't actually know how to do so.

Random thoughts
life and magi are of screen a bit in full screen

i thought the EDU stuff was supposed to be real. whats with this story of humans transforming into animals?

there are times when the audio is so annoying i hate to mute it so i don't go crazy...like the north temple after you clear the forest maze...

in the water area the memory puzzle...this was too much for me...i found 5 things got tired of looking and gave up.
dropped

General 1H 30M Dropped (i imagine 8-10+H playtime)
I...can't bring myself to finish this. the gameplay and length are tedious.
looking at the map which isn't even all of the areas...
the lack of enjoyment i get from anything in this. and the stress of puzzle solving makes this a unbearable experience for me. the grammar also has a lot of improvements that are needed.

but with that said i do not think this is a bad game. between real world information and lots of areas to explore with custom graphics being probably the best part of this. it has value.
it just does not click with my interests.
it also does not have turn based battles so that's a plus.tho at times it made the enemies pretty annoying.

if the amount you had to do to finish the game was like 25% of what the game is i would of liked it more.theres just too much to do to spend time on this.

Overall
despite not liking it i do think its worth giving a chance.
Thanks for the feedback Shayoko.
I'm glad you contacted me before I finish the next update.

You say the life and magi are off screen a bit when you full screen? Since no one else has had this problem maybe you need to change your screen resolution but I assure you if more people mention this issue I'll try to fix it.

The EDU segment you are referring to is a retelling of an African Folktale I figured that was obvious. Would you prefer I have a note stating that somewhere?

I've been considering changing that song you mentioned. I guess it's more of an acquired taste but the music of the Baka people is very unique and I thought it'd be cool to include. That being said I realize it's my job to ease people into the African culture so I'll try to find a song that's a bit more pleasing to the western ear.

I've already made that water puzzle easier you'll see it in the next update. In fact, many of the challenges of the game have been tweaked to make the experience simpler and easy for the players. (For anyone reading this, keep in mind I'm talking about a yet to be released update which may still take a few months to come out)
So hopefully you'll like the next version more.

As for the grammar I'll be correcting what you notified me of. I actually had an English Major look through the main story so those parts I'm pretty sure don't have much grammar errors.

I know when compared to other RPGMaker games mine seems really long but compared to my inspiration (The Legend of Zelda series) it's actually a short game. My game takes a little over 10 hours to beat. A Zelda game typically takes way more than that.

It's long because I spent many years trying to make an epic game.
I have however been, finding ways to trim the game's play time without reducing the scale much.

Thanks for the sharing your thoughts Shayoko and helping me to improve the game.

Thanks b0yflea :D I put a lot of effort into making things look interesting in this game. Just the city of Umoja alone has tons and tons of unique assets. I actually hurt my hand putting together all the graphics for it, which is why I need to pace myself more lol. You get to see that city in the intro but later on you can fully explore it.
hello,
i've been playing the game for the past few weeks and now i'm stuck. how can i move the mashetani across the green tiles in the sky ruins of the great zimbab? i tried to walk normally, walk with the heaven spell, try to stand still and use the spell to move the mashetani, but i keep on getting hit by it. i can't seem to figure out how to solve it without pure luck.

thanks in advance!
Are you referring to this puzzle?

Hopefully this doesn't sound redundant but have you asked Clua for help?
She will tell you this:

I can also say that you should try to stay in front of him but you dont have to be directly in front of him for him to follow you. Send the wind in the direction he is facing and it will slow him down.

I sent you a video clip of me doing this puzzle.

thanks a lot for the video! it really helps. yeah, i already asked clua for help, but i still can't figure out how to. i was using the spell several times until my mp down to 0 several times until i got tired to wait for it to refill. i guess the word "changing your speed" stuck on me so much that i started to think that the spell is used to speed you up, and not changing the wind's direction permanently in the said room.
Ah I see what you mean. Well I'm glad the video helped you to better understand the spell and how it works. Basically I like to think of it being like using the Wind Waker in Zelda except simpler because you don't have to perform a jingle like in Zelda.

If you get stuck again feel free to ask me for help. :D

haha, i don't really play wind waker so i don't really know the mechanics (i only played some of the old zelda games)

actually now that i think about it, i think i missed a mystic gong on the ancient temple, in the left side of the building (near the elephant). i tried to find a way to go there from outside the building and tried to check any exit from the left side on first floor, but i don't see any exit. i thought that you're gonna get it later, but since i already left the area, i'm sure that i missed it now..
You can return to the Ancient Temple using the Tele Kalimba so long as you activated the warp gate there (technically you can return even without the Tele Kalimba but that's much slower). If you want to still get that Mystic Gong its still attainable even after you finished the area. There is a secret exit on the first floor of the temple on the left side that brings you to the grotto that has the Mystic Gong. The secret exit is directly opposite of the entrance you use to sneak into the temple. A bunch of boxes in the room form an arrow pointing to the exit. You can see it in this picture here:

ah, i must have missed that spot. i checked the corners before but i didn't find it. there is some white creature that blocks me though. i can't seem to get past through it.

EDIT: now i'm stuck on pold. i can't seem to beat it. any suggestions?
You just have to slide underneath that white creature he's just an invisible version of the enemies you would find on your initial journey to the Ancient Temple.

Wow you're already at the last boss that was fast!
Which form of Pold are you stuck at? He has 5 forms.
You can save before the final form make sure you use a secondary save file if you do just for safety. Clua will tell you that as well but I might as well say it too.
1st form is his Earth Magic form.
2nd is Water
3rd is Fire
4th is Sky
and then there is the Final Form

If you are on the final form, here are some tips. Duck down at the start, Pold hovers at various heights when you see a shadow under him you can just duck under him. Also even before that, you may be able to take down the 1st crystal on your left if you move quickly enough. Use wind magic to run away. use water magic to push and pull everything in the room other than Pold (the crystals can be pushed in all directions but the enemy drones can only be pushed vertically). Use fire magic to destroy the crystals and finally when all the crystals are gone trap Pold with Earth Magic AKA the Rock Shield.

If you need a video let me know.

I just tried to slide through it and it works. I don't really use sliding and ducking that much so I tend to get stuck on those puzzles. Thanks!

Anyway, thanks again for the suggestion on Pold! As i already said on the pm, i already beat the game, so i don't think i need a video for it (thanks for the thought btw. i appreciate it :) ) And yeah, i was on final form. It took several tries to beat the first 4 forms, but at least i still managed to figure that out. It's just that i can't seem to figure out how to beat its final form with it keep on charging me every time with a lot of damage.
Now that you finished the game, I thought I'd ask a couple of statistical things that'd be good for me to know like:
What level did you reach for Lanoa before beating the game? (in other words how many mystic gongs did you find?)
And do you feel like you found enough healing and magic restoring items in your quest?
Also do you feel like you found enough cowries to fund whatever items you needed to buy?
