The redemption!

Hello!
and welcome to the unexpected sequel of the unexpected game called "The shoe is on the other foot"... that is unsurprisingly called "The shoe is on the other foot 2"!!!

Ok, I admit that I was mildly dissappointed by the first game because of some bugs, the impossibility to save, the inexistence of a story/plot and some ok minigames. The only excellent part was the graphic style, that was pretty memorable and unique, but it was not enough to make it a good game (mapping was not particular exciting either!).

"The shoe is on the other foot 2" is divident into three different chapters, with the option to save between them. The first part may be called "The airplane & the house", the second is "the investigation" and the third "the concert". During these chapters we control two different characters: a dark skinned man with sunglasses and a black cat. It's not clear if they are the same characters of the first game, probably not since the man has a different appearance, while the cat... well it's a black cat just like the one of the first game (but this one does not really talk to people, just to other cats and behaves like a normal cat... more or less)!

Hey are you a relative of Claude Speed? But what is happening here? Play this game to find out... maybe!

So what's this game about? Well it's still a sort of walking simulator, with some minigames that involve catching rats and avoiding rats, for example, and these are all integrated into a story, because yes, there is a story this time!
And it's really a surreal one, that involves a ghost, a serial killer, a detective... and a cat! I warn you that the game ends with a "to be continued" sign so probably the story is not complete but in this game there is enough to understand what is happening, and for the rest the player may interpretates some events and who are some recurring secondary characters. As usual I won't spoil the story, but from what I know the sentence "the shoe is on the other foot" is used to say that a situation has changed to the opposite of what it was before (and that's what happens before the ending credits roll).

Something that surprised me was the graphic style because... it's normal! Yeah, the old, weird, original wacky style is changed to a more normal use of Rtp and some additional graphics found from various sources, and there are no more voiced dialogues, anyway I did not mind because mapping is really improved, pretty e realistic (we have a place, a house, a city block... more varied than the weird park with gardens of the first game). Lightning is also well used, the only problem is that when the character is behind a wall sometimes it cannot be seen (like the cat behind the house walls), while other times there is the elegant solution of making the walls transparent (for example in the plane).

The gameplay is ok, I mean this time the tasks are easier, even if last part with the mutant rats isn't exactly easy (the difficulty is due to the darkness of the area), but it can be done, and you cannot fail since you may re-try all the times you need until you succeed. For the rest there are a couple of tasks and many interactions but it's all linear and made to tell a story... but does the game succeeds in this? Read the final verdict!

What a little cute guy!

Final Verdict
... short answer: yes it does! Despite the use of a more usual graphic style, the overal quality of the game is greatly improved. The first episode was justa a bunch of minigames of mixed quality, here instead there is a real story with some interactive parts, one who lets your imagination fly!
Ok, it's a really short game but at least there are no bugs, ok there are a couple of typos here and there, but you cannot get stuck anywhere and there is the possibility to save between chapters! I think this is a reat improvement.
What is instead the same is the surreal modern setting, that is explored more in this adventure, even if a lot is left unresolved... but I guess I understood most of what was happening!

A ghost, a killer, a weird detective, and a cat that likes concerts! Aren't you curious? Try it! It's so short (but not bad and you do not need to play the first at all)!

That's scaryyyy! And it's not the scariest thing in this game! (that is NOT a horror game, mind this)
