"My name is Felix Omin.
Ever since I was born, I've been afraid.
Afraid of what?
What is there not to be afraid of...
"

Story:
Cardiophobia follows Felix, a teenager with a unique heart condition.
Whenever his heartbeat raises, he cannot get it back to normal without taking medicin.
Living with such a condition makes it hard to have a normal life, but he manages at his new home.
One night, there is a blackout in the house and weird things start to happen.
Felix finds himself trying to survive the rest of the night, while saving his friends.

Premise:
In this game there are Scares and Spooks.
Scares are things that make Felix's Heartbeat rise. If it gets too high, he dies. The scares don't always happened either, most of them have conditions.
Spooks, on the other hand, are harmless. However, these things only appear depending on how scared Felix is, stuff like blood, messages, noises.

You will be faced with puzzles that range from very easy to thinking outside the box, and most of them are optional. However, puzzles isn't the only things you will have to face before you can escape...

The game is meant to be played multiple times, because I doubt it's possible to get the best ending on your first playthrough.

It's important to note, that even though it has horror elements, I would rather say this is a puzzle-survivor game. The scares are more for Felix the character, but if I manage to scare someone else, then I do see that as a plus. The scares also varies from small things to more elaborate.

This game contains:
  • Ending that recaps what you did or did not do in your playthrough, with 8 different endings.

  • Multiple puzzles that range in difficulty.

  • Multiple playthroughs.

  • With over 50 Scares.

  • New Game+ saving to keep track of your unlock progress.

Authors notes (Might be important to read through):
This project started years ago, and over those years, I've been working on this game from time to time. Some weeks more than others. Lately, I haven't felt like wanting to go back to this game. Don't get me wrong, the game is complete, but it has been complete for a long while, I've just been adding more to the game. I feel like if I don't release this game now, it will never be released.

With that being said, I just wanna say that I am not an artist or anything, this game has problems. Spelling error, dialogs being just plain bad etc. You kinda have to take this game with a grain of salt.

Just like any game, it is not 100% bug free, but I'm pretty sure all the game breaking bugs are gone (The ones that crash the game).

Thanks

I'm really stoked about Cardiophobia getting over 50k views, so I just really wanted to say thanks for that.

I also wanted to say thanks for the spotlight, I couldn't believe it at first when I saw it.

While the making and first couple of weeks after completion had some rough patches, I've had a lot of fun watching people play the game and hear all of the feedback in the comments.

I don't know what else to say, thanks for everything.

I just wanted to say that I'm really liking the game so far. It's scary, oppressive and unbelievably atmospheric, and I'll be sure to write a review as soon as I manage to beat it!

Thanks, looking forward to it.
Hello.

I am stuck on the toolbox puzzle. There's three sets of three numbers on the floor and three other sets of two numbers, always on the floor. I can't seem to understand what I am supposed to do.

I *think* I have looked everywhere else too, because otherwise I wouldn't know how to open the door with a two hole mechanism, nor how to get Marcus' Orb. And if there's a use for the rope, then I haven't figured it out either. :(

Am I missing something obvious?

Standing in the corners will hide all the irrelevant numbers. The toolbox leads you to another room, and the inside of that room will in turn lead you to yet another room, so there are rooms you haven't been in yet.

The rope has a function, that's all I'll say without spoiling.

Thanks for the tip! Not that it really helped, because I still could't figure out how to use it. :P

However, now that I was certain of which numbers were not present in the solution, the next most logical move was to tackle the problem via brute force (I.E. to try each combination of each certain number). And it was surprisingly effective, if a bit slow.

Now onto another question: What is "the deadliest word"? One would imagine the answer to be deducible from the books and the notes within the house, but apparently this is not the case...

I don't mind a challenge, but obscure mechanics in puzzles make for one hell of a stonewall.

The toolbox numbers aren't brute force, they are in the correct order in the room (from left to right). Just sayin.

The deadliest word is a play on words puzzle. The correct answer is sword.

As the creator of the puzzles, I can't really say what's obscure or not. Maybe my way of thinking is very different from everyone else. It would explain a lot.
Whew! Just finshed it for the first time. Kudos for the oppressive atmosphere. The ever-growing sense of paranoia during the first few hours is incredible. As a whole, I found this game to be quite impressive in that regard. But some of the puzzles are...not as much. I shall explain, but know that I will spare no punches.

The "deadliest word" puzzle left me a bad taste in my mouth. There, I said it. It was completely unrelated to what was happening in the house. It felt random and unnecessary.

The teddy bear puzzle has one big flaw: it takes years to move the bears around. You can't swap them from their seats, no, you have to bring one of them back to its far away circle before you can move the others. Mechanically speaking, this is the kind of old-school puzzle that is simply meant to grind people's gears.

The stonewall and the toolbox puzzles suffer from a terrible lack of hints. As in, the creator knew what kind of reasoning you were supposed to do in order to solve them. You don't. The result? people gets stuck and doesn't understand why. Luckly these two are optional, which leads me to my next and last point...

The exit key! How was one supposed to find it on a freaking wall that you can't even see?!? This isn't an extra for the better endings, you need this ULTRA IMPORTANT key to finish the game at all! Why. Is. It. So. Painfully. Hidden?!? *incoherent babble*

*gets a chill pill, calms the f**k down*
Good game overall, would play it again for the atmosphere. Definitely not for the puzzles.
I'm sooo frustrated! I really like the game but I just get the same ending over and over again, for me it doesn't look like I'm overlooking something...

For example I found the piano and I have the music sheets... but what now? Where is the hint that tells me how to play this damn thing?

How can I get into this skull room? And how can I survive what's waiting after the teddybear puzzle? Where can I find the golden key and how can I enter the room in the basement with this weird puzzle? And what should I do to meet that girl in the basement?

I'm playing this game for 2 days and I'm really stuck. Is there no chance you can write a walkthrough? I really don't know what else to do... And that's a shame because this game is pretty good.
Datau; I've read and I am hearing you. In the newest version, I added a short hint for the toolbox puzzle (maybe this helps future players). When interacting with the mirror in the tv room, Felix now points out that there is something hanging on the wall behind. While it may be well hidden, when playing the game the next time, you don't have to do anything to get the key, you just simply know where it is. It's meant to be easy to get once you know WHERE it is.

However, I'm still glad you liked it and I'm happy you are honest, thank you. =)

lycorisaurea; The tempo hint for the piano is in the library. The puzzle page has the solution to 3 of the puzzle in the game, you could check that out if it maybe helps you (it has the teddy for example)

I did start writing a walkthrough, but it became a big mess. Check out the media tab maybe?

What ending is it you always get? Could be easier to help you if I knew that.
I agree with datau, that tip didn't help, I'm still stuck at the toolbox.
It really is a nice game, and I'm enjoying it, but the toolbox is frustrating.
I've tried brute forcing all the numbers on the floor, left to right. It didn't work, did you change the code on the toolbox? I can send all the ones I've tried.

Sorry for the late response. The correct answer is 394. How/Why? When standing in the corners, your lantern only lit up those 3 numbers, from left to right.
I play this 3 times but always get Forgetful ending

Maybe since I couldn't finish all the rooms like :

1. Skull room. I dont have key or so
2. Painting rooms. After I got into painting rooms in basement, i realize that there's something behind the bar, and maybe I should press some button to open the bar. But which one?

3. Room with some mechanics in the door. I dunno what should I put on the hole. Orbs? Nah, not working..

ALSO, the piano. I don't have any clue which tempo I should play.

4. A silver chest in Golden room

So, could you please give me a help?
This game made me addicted but i am stuck
Nice game, anyway
Well, I tried those numbers, the game crashed, I tried it on an earlier version, they worked, I re-downloaded the latest version, tried it again, it finally worked. . . have no clue what was going on.

So, I have all the endings 'cept the middle 2, endings 3 and 4 I'm guessing. . . no matter what I tried I can't seem to get them, can you give a little guidance please?
Looks cool :) I'm not too great with puzzles, but I'll definitely give this game a shot.
Also, perhaps you can make something that collects all the texts you receive?
I've been away for so long, I hardly remember where things are, but I hope I can still be of help to some of you.

4. A silver chest in Golden room

You get the Skull Key from the dragon statue upstairs in the little room on the balcony from Mother's Room. You need 2 Red Gems to get it, one of the gems is located in the basement hall behind the spikes, the other is the the painting room behind the bars.

Painting room. This is a nod/ripoff from Resident Evil painting puzzle. You are to press the paintings in the right order, the order is telling the story from start to finish.
Solution to the painting puzzle:
Little boy > Young man > Man and woman > A couple and a group of people > Man decapitating woman > Man covering his face > Hanging man

Is this the same room with the silver chest? I'm guessing so, so ive combined them into one answer: To open the silver chest, you need to insert the orbs into the holes, but you need all 6 orbs and in the right hole to complete this puzzle.

Piano room. When Felix is scared enough, the shelves changes into long and small bookcases, that's the tempo.

That's really good actually, I'm impressed. The 2 middle ones are the special endings. Here is how you get them:
Special Ending 1:
First up: Don't save Emelie or Marcus.
You need to Lie about Robin to Marcus. (Lying to Marcus will make him no longer appear in the game, i.e, he won't be in Robin's room.)
You need to have entered Emelie's room. (Emelie's life is on a timer, so just don't do any of her things, do other stuff until finally her door no longer is closed.)

You need to find Lucas. (You'll find him in the secret room in the basement.)

You also need to do at least 2 of the following, this is so that you don't get the worst ending.
Finding Mother.
Confronting Levi (Tips: Confronting her means talking to her at the attic after meeting her in the caverns.)
Finding Research Data.

In the eastern rooms in the basement, there is a mask hanging on a wall. Inspect the mask and then go down some so you can't see the mask anymore. The mask is now gone.

Lastly, you need to read the open book in the library.

Now all you have to do is leave like normal and the special ending should play.

Special Ending 2:
This one is a lot easier. Go and save Emelie and Marcus (If you don't know when they are 'saved', Emelie is saved after you've given her the rope and she leaves her room. Marcus is saved when he says "Fine... I get it..." when being straight with him in Robin's Room.

After saving both of them, go to the exit BUT DON'T LEAVE YET. You need to have Felix dripping blood from his eyes. This is something that might happen when Felix is at max scare (meaning one more scare will kill him).

As another tip: After using Medicine, Felix heartbeat is at 0, you need to get to 5 to try and activate the eyes. 6 is death. The easiest way is to go to the last save room in the caverns, save, and then use energy drinks to try and activate it. Use a medicine and then 5 drinks, if the eyes don't show, reload and try again.

I know this is a pain, but it is a special ending after all.

You mean the notes? In your inventory, you should have all the texts you collect so that you can re-read them, or am I misunderstanding what you mean?
I made a mistake on how to get Special Ending 1 in my previous comment, it should be correct now.
Green is not a primary color and yellow is, so the hint for one of the puzzles is confusing =(

I've heard this before, it seems like everyone has different opinions on what a primary color is, and that is why I changed the hint to light spectrum long ago.
If you still think that light spectrum isn't right then I don't really know what to tell you. I've always thought that red green and blue were the main colors, mainly cause those are the 3 colors you talk about (at least for me).
I've only seen RGB being a thing in things like photoshop, so I don't really know what to tell you. I've admitted that I was wrong, hence why I changed the hint, but any more than that, what else can I do?

Before this I didn't read the comments, so I didn't know what was said before. But I'd change the puzzle so that instead of yellow one of the colors is purple. And so that the numbers follow the order of the colors (red, green, then blue) instead of being random.

No, this is not the case. I dunno what corners you stood in, but I tried all 6-7 corners in the room, and the lantern lights up literally every number except the 3 behind the wall's shadow.

On another note, the game seems to be impossible for me to complete now. I've used every med key I've found on a med kit box, and there are still 2 med kit boxes I don't have keys for. Advancing the plot (with the shed or the basement) triggers a scare that kills me, and I'm out of medicines. Is there anything I can do, or am I just screwed?
