A very outstanding game!

I would like to begin this review by stating that I have played through the original OFF dozens of times. When I first found this game in it's earlier stages, I was quite taken with it. I've been keeping up with updates to this particular game since it's beta stages. Now that I have beaten HOME a few times to get most of the endings, I shall state my feelings on the matter.

The game works the same as the original off does with improved battle mechanics. The element system that was introduced in the original off is a lot more pronounced, where it is actually beneficial to utilize competences with an element on certain enemies. Introduced in home as a very pronounced physical/special split. This effects how compentences work, as physical minded compentences will be effected by attack, whereas other compentences will utilize esprit to affect how strong it is. This adds a layer of depth to the game, and makes it more interesting.

In terms of aesthetics and music, this game emulates the OFF style to a T, with new enemies that still fit the bizarre and abstract world of OFF. The soundtrack to this game gives an abstract and weird atmosphere that further immerses the player in the game.

In terms of story and its characters, this is an AU of the original off that has you in control of The Judge. You travel through the familiar zones and try to help the various denizens of the land. Along the way, you meet more kitty cats that will gladly help you on your adventure. Valarie makes a comeback as a party member, alongside two new characters of original design. Alain and Jozyln, which reside in Zone 1 and Zone 3 respectively. As for the endings, I personally feel that they should be experienced by the player personally, so I shall not spoil them in my review.

To make a long review short, this is a fantastic game. However, I personally feel that it is unfair to compare it to off or it's other fangames. At the end of the day, each fangame is capable of standing on it's own. However, this doesn't stop it from being a fantastic game. If you are a fan of the original OFF, you owe it to yourself to play this game.
