Later generations would call it the Second Askigagan-Hachisukan War. The Hachisukan army, led by it's princess, had the upper hand. However, during the defense of the Temple of the Oracle, a new hero arose for Askigaga: Ishihara Oharu. Not only did she defend the Temple with no losses, she quickly liberated the territories belonging to Askigaga. However, when ordered to invade Hachisuka by her superior, with a will stronger than steel, she refused. The war came to a stand-still; Askigaga ultimately did not invade Hachisuka, and Hachisuka could not progress against Askigaga's defenses. Thus, a treaty was forged between the two nations, with the nation of Gojo acting as an arbiter. Part of this treaty was the marriage of the prince of Askigaga and the princess of Hachisuka. Askigagan royal tradition holds that the prince go on a journey to each of the three nations to receive the Blessings of the Goddess.

Personal History:
I made this game back in 2009, but, it really didn't work very well for varying reasons. With this incarnation, I hope to make it work, maybe even fun. Though, certain parts of the game is going to hit a bit close to home, but, hopefully, that won't matter in the end.

Other links of Interest:
The game's TV Tropes page. It's pretty bare-bones, and in need of Wiki Magic Love.

Story portions DONE!

This is it. The story portions of this game are, as far as I'm concerned, done! Let me take a brief moment to thank NeverSilent, for the Anti-Procrastiation Initiative, and Dozen, who's been cheering me on in the background! Let's all give 'em a round of applause!

*claps hands in a circle*

Anyway, saying that, I could see me tweaking mechanics at a later date. The previously mentioned Temple of the Spirits is among the chief things that probably needs to change. Bug reports are also welcome. Otherwise, can we call it complete? No, we do not call it complete. We call it...

COMPLETE!

Now, if you excuse me, time to chill with Myriad Cypher sleep.

I've been on a Heroes of Might and Magic kick lately. A semi-relevant-to-this-game story approaches!

One thought that occurred to me was to make a Heroes 3 scenario based on the war that preceded this game's events. The partial pun is that I'm kicking myself in the shins for basing this game's world map on a Heroes 3 map that was never saved as a Heroes 3 map-file.

What I did do was take numerous in-editor screenshots to Frankenstein together a PNG and PSD version of the map, which was then used to make the world map of this game. However, the fact that I only have PNG/PSD versions of the map is something of a dismaying factor.

There is also a sense that going through the motions of re-making the map as a Heroes 3 scenario would be a waste of time and effort. Like, who the hell would play this scenario, other than myself? It's not like an RPG Maker game that just about anybody can pick up get the RTP and play!

I added a few more tropes to the page from what I still remembered while playing this game.

The only response I can have to that is...

...this, followed closely by...

...this.
When I click on New game the screen goes black and the won't start. I have to reboot to get out of the black screen.
tried it 4 times and the same every time.

Now that my entry for RMN's 9th Birthday Bash is done (it's more than a bit awkward), maybe I can get back to this?

Yeah no.

Small update: I've finally gone back to re-do Castle Askigaga. I cheated (and am horribly lazy), and copy-pasted the maps from Castle Gojo. The exterior maps have been fixed up as have transfer events. However, the interior maps could probably use another once-over. Such as when I am less tired.

Small update to the game's description. There was a blurb about the Oracle having dreams, and cautioning Hiroji about them. Which may have been true at one point, but not-so-much anymore. I mean, she still has dreams, don't get me wrong, but, at least as far as what's available is concerned, she does not warn the Prince about their contents.

Anyway, sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused!

My play-testing went pretty well! Though, there is the fact that I know stuff that the average player would not, and it's really hard to account for that sometimes! Still, I kinda wanna say "screw it" with messing with the encyclopedia for the moment, and pass off what I do have to my testers.

I dunno. I guess I just want something out there for this game that isn't the duel demo that I might not even end up using?

I think I'm about ready for a self-test. I'm a bit worried that the boss is over-powered, and that the sub-bosses aren't quite varied enough. Also, I'm noticing that the game's description could use some updating, as well as some info in the manual that nobody reads.

There's also the fact that I haven't actually put any info into the game's encyclopedia yet. That can be after the self-test, I think! Though, I'd probably want to test again after I put in the info. I still recall that instance that a tester reported in the old Konae where the formatting for an entry was a bit off, and that caused an exception to be raised that auto-closed the game.

I've started to slowly, very slowly, convert all my text into the format that would be used with Yanfly's messaging system. It's gonna be weird to format, as I'm so used to doing message-box previews! For example, I'd be ignoring whatever is being put in the name-box, and the special formatting codes, such the bold or italic switches.

I'm not sure if I'm keen on allowing text to be skipped. However, for the moment, I'm leaving that functionality in. Though, the kinda good news is that this gives me an perfect excuse opportunity to come up with some NPC dialogs! Now, this isn't Okiku, Star Apprentice a game where the main focus is supposed to be on humor. That's not saying that there would not be humor at all, though. We can afford to have at least a few silly moments. Right?

So, I've been thinking a bit about this game, despite RMN PLAYS looming over my head, not to mention certain commentary elsewhere on RMN.

Now, I haven't messed with this all that much in the last while, and inserting Yanfly's messaging script is still on the docket. There will certainly be straight-up re-writes in places, since Momo isn't a guest character anymore. However, there is also an experiment I wish to perform in regards to enemies. Mostly, I want to see how a level 1 party fairs against a sub-boss found within the Temple of the Body. Mostly, I'm curious to see Hiroji's reconfigured debuff, and how difficult it is for such a situation, given the situation that the sub-boss is supposedly designed for. Then there's the desire to make each sub-boss fight increasingly difficult, and Darigaaz, what am I going to do with the main boss?

The duel system was intended to use for boss fights. However, after a bit of re-evaluating, I think it would be best as something aside from the main game.
The duel system is interesting but confusing, is kinda like rock, paper, scissors but looks like there no way to attack without taking damage, and I'm not sure if this system would work for a full game, it would get repetitive really fast

Good luck anyway

Clarification: The duel demo is a demo showcasing the system I intend to use for boss fights in this game. It is not intended to be an example of regular gameplay. That demo is still in the works.

Thanks for giving it a spin, though!

ok played this for about 25 minutes
its not my thing but that does not mean its bad as a idea
(id be a hypocrite after playing one piece triple duels 2 for over 24 hours and said it was bad!)
But it was a good idea, something you haven't seen 100-1000+ times

maybe if this incorporated into a short story it could be a bit more enjoyable
but as is its not a bad way to spend 20+ minutes :3
don't be afraid to invent creative things
even if only a few someone is bound to appreciate it.
heck people even defend games with R*** as a major foundation
so your in the clear :3

forgot to ask tho whats up with the screen shots?
normally(ive seen one other case like this)
they are something in the game but it seems they are not :3

No, this is definitely an active project. I'm trying to slow-roll this, though. "Try" being the operative term.

Anyway, I suppose you could try the duel test. It could be interesting. Maybe not "fun", but "interesting". Also, I would not recommend Konae's Investigations at this time. It's a mess of a game, and it's been put on haitus until I know what the heck I want to do with it. Again. Stupid existential issues.
